Obituary:
William F. Malliet, 73, died at 10:30 Monday evening at his home in the village of Black Creek. He was born in Felmish [sic], Belgium on May 6, 1852 and came to this country at the age of 2 years settling at Bay Settlement. He was married Aug. 2, 1874, to Miss Melvina Burton at Bay Settlement. The couple located on a farm in the town of Maple Creek where they lived for four years. They then moved to Polar where they resided for 19 years and later moved to Bryant, where they were located for 18 years. Mr. and Mrs. Malliet lived at Bear Creek for the past nine years.
He is survived by his widow, eight sons, two daughters: Clarence, Abraham, and Arthur Malliet of Jordan, Mont.; Mrs. Clara Carlson, Melvin, Benjamin and Delbert Malliet of Bryant, Frank of Doering, Mrs. Grace Keitel of Sheboygan and Ervin [sic - Irven] Malliet of Deer Creek; three brothers, Frank Malliet of Bear Creek, Jule of the town of Deer Creek and Joseph Malliet of Bay Settlement. Twenty-nine grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon from the home. F. Bachelor will have charge of the services. Interment will be in the Danish cemetery in the town of Deer Creek.

HELD ON FRIDAY
Funeral services of the late William F. Mallier [sic], age 73, father of Mrs. Grace Keitel, of this city, who died at his home in the village of Bear Creek last Monday night, were conducted on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in the Danish cemetery at Deer Creek.
Mr. Malliet was born in Fleming, Belgium, on May 6, 1852. At the age of two years he emigrated with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Malliet, to Bay Settlement, Wis. where he spent his youth. On August 2, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Melvina Burton at Bay Settlement and after their marriage the couple moved to the town of Maple Creek, locating on a farm where they lived for four years. They then moved to Polar, Langlade county, there they lived for nineteen years, later moving to Bryant, also in Langlade county, where they were residents for eighteen years. They then moved to Bear Creek and had lived their since.
The survivors are the widow, eight sons, Clarence, Abraham and Arthur, of Jordan, Montana; Melvin, Benjamin and Delbert, of Bryant, Frank of Doering, and Irvin of Deer Creek, and two daughters, Mrs. Clara Carlson, of Bryant, and Mrs. Grace Keitel, this city. Three brothers and twenty-nine grandchildren survive.

Mrs. Charles De Young Succumbs To Operation For Cancer Yesterday
Mrs. Mary Louise De Young, wife of Charles De Young, tender of the fourth lock, died at St. Elizabeth's hospital last night at 8:30 o'clock following an operation for cancer.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church, with interment at St. Joseph's cemetery. Mrs. De Young died on the twenty-second anniversary of her marriage. She was born in Bay Settlement and was 44 years old. She had lived in this city for more than a quarter of a century. She is survived by her husband and by six children, one son and five daughters. The son is William De Young; the daughters are Mrs. Hubert J. Knuijt (sic) and the Misses Mamie, Minnie, Margaret and Dorothy De Young, all of this city.

Mrs. Ella Lehman, 73, West Allis, formerly of New London, died about 9 o'clock Monday morning in Milwaukee after short illness. She was born April 23, 1885, in Bear Creek and moved from new London to Milwaukee in 1942.
Funeral services will be at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at St. mary Catholic church, Bear Creek, with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Cline and Hanson Funeral home, New London, after 7 o'clock tonight.

Miss Agnes Van Rossum, 209 N. Fair St., age 76, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Monday after an extended illness. She was born September 10, 1890, in Oconto and had been a resident of Appleton most of her life. She had been employed at the Brettschneider Furniture Company in the drapery department for 25 years prior to her retirement 20 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Confraternity of the Holy Ghost. Miss Van Rossum is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Mary) Riedel and Mrs. Regina Bauerfeind, both of Appleton; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, the cortege forming at 9:30 a.m. at the Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Francis Louis Van Rossum, 67, of 1322 E. College Avenue, died at 2:45 this morning after a long illness. Van Rossum was born May 30, 1892, in Oconto and lived in Appleton most of his life. He retired three years ago after working for the Appleton Machine company 45 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and during World war II served in the army.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brettschneider Funeral home from 2 p.m. Sunday until the hour of service. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Mary Ann at home, Mrs. Clinton Christ of Appleton, Mrs. Joseph Vanden Hoogan (sic) of Little Chute and Mrs. Gerald Kilcoyne, Chicago; three sons, Paul and John, both of Appleton, and Louis, Darboy; three sisters, Mrs. Edward Reidel, Mrs. Regina Bauernfiend, and Miss Agnes Van Rossum, all of Appleton; and 21 grandchildren.

According to a newspaper article on Mary, Dorothy, and Margaret de Jonge written by Jean Otto and published in the Appleton Post Crescent, the de Jonge family home on 836 E . South St. was purchased by their father in 1925; he died before the family was able to move into it. The 4 unmarried sisters then moved in and through the years did some remodelling and were antique collectors. The article states that their father, Charles DeYoung came to America in 1883. The house was owned at one time by one of the Presidents of Lawrence University; it then was purchased by Mark Catlin, Sr., and then purchased by Charles DeYoung. Photos of the home and contents appear in the newspaper article, along with a picture of the bed where the deJonge sisters were born. (Nice history of this deJonge (DeYoung) family in Appleton.

He served on the Mexican border as a member of the old National Guards and later in the World war with Battery E of the 121st Field artillery. He was a member of the Elk lodge, Ohney Johnson post of the American legion and the Red Arrow club. The survivors are his widow and three children, Charles, James and Mary Jane, his father, Charles DeYoung of Appleton, and five sisters, Mrs. Herbert Knight, Mary, Jane, Margaret and Dorothy all of Appleton. Margaret is survived by a nephew, James De Young and his wife, Ginger, Barrington, Illinois; two nieces, Mary Louise (Knight) Lloyd, Appleton, and Mary Jane (de Jonge) Pope and her husband, Keith, Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Sister Alice Mae Malliet, formerly known as Sister Mark, age 84, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, died February 2, 2015 at a local nursing home.
Alice Mae Malliet was born on May 27, 1930 in Bear Creek, WI, one of twelve children of George and Esther (Suprise) Malliet. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and New London High School. She entered the convent in 1948, professed her vows in 1952, and celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 2009.
Sister Alice Mae earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College, De Pere. She served as a teacher at St. Matthew, Green Bay, St. Joseph, Madison, St. Boniface, De Pere, St. Isidore, Osman, St. Joseph, Marinette, St. Mary, Peshtigo, and St. Jude, Green Bay. Sister Alice Mae served as a ward clerk at several hospitals, was a secretary and receptionist at St. Joseph Retreat House in Bailey's Harbor and at St. Norbert Abbey, and served for a time as Motherhouse Coordinator. In1998 she retired to the Motherhouse.
Sister Alice Mae will be remembered for her love of Community, crocheting, playing cards, reading and enjoyment of good movies, with "Sound of Music" as her favorite. She kept in contact with family and friends by email and letters. She loved singing and could whistle any tune. One of her favorite sayings when life was challenging was: "Grin and bear it; earn some merit."
Survivors include the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross and Associate members; three brothers: George (Florence), New London, Eugene, Kimberly, Durrell (Sue), Wrightstown; sister-in-law: Winifred Welter, Clintonville; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents: George and Esther; five brothers: Julius, Marlin, Donald, Gordon, Roger; two sisters: Grace Cattanach, LaRayne Zeeman; brother-in-law: Carl Zeeman; two sisters-in-law: Bernice and Sandy Malliet.
Friends may call at St. Francis Convent, 3110 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay on Thursday, February 5 at 4:00 p.m. for the reception of the body and visitation. The Vigil Service will be at 6:30 p.m. at the convent. Visitation for Sister Alice Mae will continue on Friday, February 6 at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road, from 9:45 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m.with Rev. John Kastenholz, O.Praem. presiding. Burial will be in St. Francis Convent Cemetery.

Roger Malliet, age 73, Appleton, formerly of New London went to his final resting place unexpectedly on May 30, 2011. Roger was born on January 11, 1938, in Bear Creek, the son of George and Esther (Surprise) Malliet. He served his country in the US Navy. On August 25, 1962, Roger married Gladys Stallberg. She preceded him in death in 1982. He worked at Mercury Marine in Fond Du Lac and later was employed at Simmons Juvenile Products in new London.
Rodger is survived by three brothers: George (Florence) Malliet, New London; Eugene (Marilyn) Malliet, Kimberly and Durrell (Susan) Malliet, Wrightstown; a sister, Alice Malliet, Bay Settlement, Green Bay; as well as several nieces, nephews, close friend, Kathy Rausch and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys, Brothers, Marlin, Gordon, Donald, Julius and sisters, Grace and Lorraine.

Patricia M. Brockman, age 79, died Thursday morning, November 9, 2006, at her residence, with her family at her side. She was born June 22, 1927, to the late James and Esther (McClone) Malliet, in Bear Creek and had been an Appleton resident all of her life. Pat had been employed by Joe The Trader and Best Bakery. She enjoyed spending time at her home on Legend Lake, her family and reading. Pat was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Neenah YMCA.
She is survived by four children: Patrick (Kathy) Brockman, Milwaukee; Paul Brockman, Menasha; Mark Brockman, Neenah; Mary (Robert "Bones") DeGroot, Menasha; four grandchildren: Neeka and Reegan Cheslock, Dylan and Shelby Brockman; and a sister, Betty Jean Kieffer, Marinette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon P. Brockman, February 17, 2006.

Jean was born Nov. 8, 1947, in Bear Creek, the daughter of Reginald and Laura Malliet. Jean was united in marriage to Donald Spoehr on Sept. 21, 1969, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Bear Creek. She was employed with the Outlook Group, town of Menasha.
Jean loved spending time with her family; she loved her grandchildren very much. She and Don enjoyed bowling together and taking one day "vacations".

Wm. R. "Bill" Giese/Ford, 81, of Sun City, Arizona, died February 20, 2008. He was born August 7, 1926, to Leo C. and Genevieve Giese in Neenah, Wisconsin. Bill graduated from St. Patrick's Grade School, Neenah High School (Class of '44), and the University of Wisconsin, where he earned his undergraduate and law degree. He was admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1952. For the next 26 years, Bill practiced law in Menasha and Neenah, Wisconsin. In 1956 he was named the Outstanding Man of the Year by the Neenah-Menasha Junior Chamber of Commerce. He served as Menasha City Attorney, was legal counsel for the Neenah-Menasha Sewerage Commission, and the Shawano Lake Sanitary District, and because of his expertise provided legal assistance to several other town boards and sanitary districts in the state.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers' Association, the Menasha Rotary Club, the Wisconsin League of Municipalities, was Past Exalted Ruler of the Menasha Elks Club, and a licensed Wisconsin Real Estate Broker. As an attorney representing the Moshawquit Lake Property Owners Association, he appeared before the Congressional Subcommittee on Indian Affairs to testify on the Menominee Restoration Act of 1973.
After moving to Arizona in 1979, Bill was an Administrative Law Judge with the AZ Corporation Commission. He then helped to establish the Hearing Division for the AZ Department of Racing where he served in a similar capacity, until he retired in 1987. He and his wife of 55 years, Mary, then divided their time between Sun City and Prescott Country Club AZ.
In addition to his wife Mary, Bill is survived by sons: Paul Giese (Katie) and Mark Giese (Yvette); and four grandchildren: Sam, Carli, Randy and Amanda; two brothers: Carleton Giese (Mardelle) and John Giese (Julianne) of Neenah, Wisconsin; and a sister, Marjorie Kraft (Richard) of Sheridan, Wyoming and Sun City, Arizona.
Bill was a life-long student of history, politics, economics and the law. He continued taking classes at Scottsdale Community College, Yavapai Community College and ASU after his retirement. Bill was passionate about what he believed and always enjoyed a good discussion. He was a strong supporter of the Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest and the work it has done to protect the environment and the quality of life for Arizonans.

Carleton Henry Giese, 86, took flight with the angels on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He passed away at home in the arms of Mardelle, his wife of 62 years.
Carleton was born April 28, 1928 in Neenah as the second son of Leo and Genevieve (Horkman) Giese. Growing up on Doty Island, he had a foot in both the Neenah and Menasha communities. He was a graduate of the first class from St. Patrick's Grade School in Menasha and went on to graduate from Neenah High School. Being an "Islander" fit his laid back nature. He enjoyed water-skiing near Riverside Park and fishing with his brother Jack behind their Water Street family home. Carleton proudly served in the US Coast Guard from 1948 to 1952 as an aviation mechanic. An aviation buff, once retired, he volunteered for many years at EAA air shows where he enjoyed meeting pilots from around the world.
On May 3, 1952, he married the love of his life, Mardelle Sawyer. Together they raised three children, actively participated in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, ran local businesses, and served their community. He was a leader in the Boys Brigade and a volunteer for St Joe's Food Pantry. Carleton, along with his brother Jack, continued a family tradition at Neenah Brass and Aluminum Foundry. Over 45 years, they built a reputation for producing fine, specialty brass and aluminum casting work. Jack managed the business and Carleton managed production. Favorite NBA foundry work included parts for Harley-Davidson, artistic manhole covers and bronze memorial plaques for Neenah's City Hall, and the USS Wisconsin Battleship in Norfolk VA. Throughout life, Carleton and Jack have been a great team; sharing in family and business with a deep and abiding brotherly love.
Carleton is survived by his wife Mardelle, children Carla (Mike) Merner, Crystal Lake Illinois, Kim (Bob Stabler) Giese, Madison, Michael (Michelle Devine) Giese, Town of Vinland, and grandsons Christopher and Mathew Lambert. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Julie) Giese, Neenah and sister Marjorie (Dick) Kraft, Sheridan Wyoming, and other cherished family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill Ford.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 610 Division Street in Neenah. Fr. Michael Ingold will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established to St. Margaret Mary or St. Joseph Food Pantry in his name.
Carleton's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Island Shores and Affinity Hospice for their care and compassion.
Carleton filled his life with love: for God, family, friends, work and community. Add to that a passion for the Packers, golf, bowling and maintaining a perfect lawn. He was a creative genius with PVC pipe. A cheerful guy, his motto: "Twenty years from now, who will know the difference?" Carleton greeted people with a firm handshake, and a genuine warmth. Listening to him chuckle as he told a joke was often as funny as the joke itself. He wasn't one to hurry ("keep your skivvies on"), which made running errands with him a leisurely affair. Carleton Giese was a regular guy who lived life like a true hero. Dad, you will be greatly missed.

Dorothy A. Christ, age 94, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Rennes Health Care Center. Dorothy was born in Appleton to the late Francis and Anna (Kugler) Van Rossum. She attended grade school and high school in Appleton and was a wonderful beautician serving many clients, family, and friends throughout the years. On August 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clinton J. Christ at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. Dorothy loved listening to country music and was also an avid Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks fan. She was particularly proud to say she had purchased a share of Packers stock. Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews. She was a charter member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Appleton.
She is survived by her sisters: Joan Kilcoyne, Chicago and Mary Ann (John) Hakkert, Appleton; sister-in-law Marie Van Rossum, Appleton and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ruth (Joseph) Vanden Hogen; her brothers: Paul Van Rossum, John (Agnes) Van Rossum, and Louis (Laverne) Van Rossum; and her brother-in-law Gerald Kilcoyne.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, September 20, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 Lourdes, Appleton, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. John E. "Rosie" Van Rossum, Appleton, 83, passed away at home with his family by his side on Saturday Dec. 30, 2006, after a short bout with Cancer. John was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Appleton, to the late Francis and Anna (Kugler) Van Rossum. He resided in Appleton his entire life. On May 5, 1948, he was united in marriage to Agnes Hartzheim. The couple shared 52 years together until her death in August of 2000. John worked at Kimberly Clark in the Kimtech Mill for 43 years, retiring in 1986.
He loved to golf, walking with his friends at the KC Health Center, visiting his friends at the Station, playing cards with friends and family, leisurely drives, Packer games, and visiting with his family. John was a lifelong member at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Jack (Karen) Van Rossum, Green Bay; son, Dave Van Rossum, Appleton; son, Jeff Van Rossum, Appleton; daughter, Mary Gilkey, Appleton; son, Stephen (Joanne) Van Rossum, Appleton; daughter, Susan (Tom) Raatz, Appleton; daughter, Patty (Mike) Baumgart, Little Chute; son, Mark (Mary) Van Rossum, Neenah; and son, Mike (Jodi) Van Rossum, Menasha, 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Christ, Appleton; Ruth (Shine) Vandenhogan, Kimberly; Mary Ann (John) Hakkart, Appleton; and Joan Kilcoyne, Chicago; a sister-in-law, Marie (Paul) Van Rossum, Appleton. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Paul and Louie Van Rossum; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with the Rev. Larry Abler officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

Ruth Vanden Hogen, 84, Little Chute, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, July 4, 2013. She was born on March 5, 1929, in Appleton, daughter of Francis and Anna (Kugler) Van Rossum. Ruth married Joseph "Shine" Vanden Hogen on October 1, 1955, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. She attended grade school and high school in Appleton and worked for Kimberly Clark from 1947 to 1956. Ruth loved to knit and made countless slippers for everyone in the family and their friends. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruth also liked to go to the casino from time-to-time with her husband. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, since 1955.
Ruth is survived by her children: Tom (Diane) Vanden Hogen, Jim (Clare) Vanden Hogen and Vicki (Mike) Steers, all of Appleton; grandchildren: Amy (friend, Joe), Laura and Brian Vanden Hogen, Sam and Anna (fiancé, Tim) Vanden Hogen, Jason and Jeff Steers; sisters: Dorothy Christ and Mary Ann (John) Hakkert, both of Appleton; and Joan Kilcoyne, Chicago. Tragedy struck the boat of three Appleton men watching the races at the VFW Regatta Saturday afternoon when David Van Rossum, 23 fell into the Fox River and drowned. He was in the boat with two friends. One friend dove into the water looking for him as the other went for help. His body was found by a search party about an hour later.

Donald E. Van Rossum, of Neenah, age 84, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. He was born July 21, 1929, in Oshkosh, son of the late George and Marie (Otto) Van Rossum.
Don married Edythe Meyer on October 12, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. He served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with the "V" bar for heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an armed enemy.
Edythe referred to Don as her "gentle giant." He was one of those people that could make friends with anyone, and he did.
Don was a 50 year member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church of Neenah, the Appleton VFW Post #2778, and he volunteered for 22 years at St. Vincent DePaul.
Survivors include his wife, Edythe; a sister, Helen Van Rossum; and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by a sister, Mary (Donald) Klapstein; and two brothers: David Van Rossum, Thomas Van Rossum.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Rev. Larry Seidl officiating. The visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Full military rites will follow the service at the church.

Walter J. "Wally" Horkman, 88, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born on April 4, 1928, in Humboldt to the late Frank and Angeline (Lathauer) Horkman, the last survivor of eleven siblings. Wally enlisted with the Navy in 1947. During his time in the Navy, Wally served in the Korean War. Wally was married to the love of his life and fishing partner, Marcella Horkman, on June 14, 1952, at Holy Martyr Catholic Church. Wally was employed with Procter and Gamble for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the VFW Post 9677 in Bellevue. Wally enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Wabeno, fishing, hunting, caring for his garden and apple trees, feeding his birds and squirrels, listening to polka music, and trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and Wyoming. Wally's family was very important to him and he cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Wally will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, Marcella (Smits) Horkman; children, Linda (Wayne) Serrahn, Susan Dorak, Rick (April Buhr) Horkman, Todd (Kristy) Horkman; nine grandchildren, Brian Serrahn, Kari (Dave) Neckuty, Brett (Sheena) Dorak, Taylor Dorak, Dillon Horkman, Rachael Horkman, Corey Horkman, Kyle Horkman, and Katie Horkman; five great grandchildren, Aiden and Elaina Serrahn, Lexie and Trenton Neckuty, and Una Dorak; three sisters-in-law, Joan Horkman, Gloria Horkman, and Pat Smits; and many other family and friends.

Donald J. Horkman, 81, Dyckesville died early Monday morning, Sept. 8, 2014, at Jack and Ingrid Meng Unity Residence in De Pere. He was born April 26, 1933, in the town of Humboldt to the late Frank and Angeline (Lathauer) Horkman. On Oct. 3, 1956, he married Joan A. Maus in Ohio. Donald served in the United States Army in 1954 and was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262, Luxemburg. He was employed with the Proctor and Gamble Co. in Green Bay until his retirement. His enjoyments included spending time at the cottage, spending time with his grandchildren four wheeling, bike riding, fishing, snowmobiling, walks with his dog Sunny and riding his Harley, which he inherited from his son Gary.

Delane Hansen, 73, Luxemburg, died late Monday evening, Aug. 6, 2007, after many complications with her health. Born Aug. 14, 1933, in Valley City, N.D., she is the daughter of the late Charles and Alma Horkman. It was Delane's life-long dream to become a nurse and was very proud of receiving her degree as a Li-censed Practical Nurse. She married Howard Hansen on March 8, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Delane was a charter member of Atonement Lutheran Church. She loved working with youth, including church youth group, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA, and most importantly providing care for her grandchildren. In later years, she donated many hours in the care of others through Unity Hospice.
Delane is survived by her husband of 55 years, Howard; one daughter and son-in-law, Nona and Doug Litzelman and their daughters, Clare and Kristin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jae and Marcianne Hansen and their daughter, Bailey, Luxemburg; and Robbin and Nina Hansen and their children, Jeremy, Laura, and Joseph, Springville, N.Y.; three brothers, Fabian "Bud" (friend Pat), Chaney, (Joan) and Lauren (Karen)
Also preceded in death by one sister, Norma; one brother, Jearly.

John E. "Jack" Van Lanen, age 83, of Green Bay, died peacefully, Monday, October 10, 2016 at Unity Hospice, surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 11, 1933 in Green Bay to the late George and Grace (Nichols) Van Lanen.
Jack grew up in Green Bay among a very loving, blended family. Throughout the years he carried on the deep love and belief in family values. As children, Jack's nieces and nephews remember him as the "fun" uncle. He made them laugh, picked them up when they fell and dried their tears. He always convinced them that there wasn't much to cry about. As the children grew older, he was their voice of reason, man of strength and guidance and they realized that Jack's love was never-ending.
Throughout his life, Jack was employed by Northwest Engineering and Van Lanen Printing. Although he enjoyed his work, his true passion was the relationships he developed with customers. He enjoyed trips to the casino, cheering on the Packers and golfing.
To every one of his family and friends, he was a man to lean on and believe in. He was "our hero." Jack will be missed by his whole family.
Jack is survived by his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Mary and Dorothy "Dot."

anice "Jan" Marie (Van Lanen) Baumgart, 87, Green Bay, died peacefully with her family by her side on Dec. 15, 2016. Born in Green Bay on Oct. 2, 1929, she is the daughter of the Edward and Cecilia M. (LeMieux) Van Lanen, (Harry Henningsen step-father after the death of Edward). Jan was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Green Bay, WI.
She married Robert "Bob" C. Baumgart on Aug. 21, 1948, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay Settlement, WI at the age of 18. In the early years, the couple moved to Calumet County where they operated a flower shop and jewelry store in Kiel.
Jan was a busy homemaker with her eight lovely children. She enjoyed floral arranging, painting, bowling, golf, bridge, and ceramics. As the children were growing up they enjoyed many days at the cabin in Silver Cliff. After Bob retired, Jan and Bob spent many winters in Sun City, Ariz., where she had fun painting ceramics, playing mini golf and golfing.
Jan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had great faith in the Lord and taught her family to have strong faith.
Jan is survived by her seven children and their spouses: Judy (David) Rollings, Shoreham-by-Sea United Kingdom; Robert (Cheri), Weyauwega; James, Franklinville, NY; Jean (Jerry) Balestrieri, Appleton; Lynnette (Don) Baumgart-Kimpton, Phoenix, AZ; Roseanne (Jeff) Polacek, Maribel; and Therese (Mark) Schelter, Green Bay. She is further survived by 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Norbert) Jadin, Green Bay; brothers: James (Barbara) Van Lanen, Two Rivers; Robert Van Lanen, John Van Lanen, of Green Bay; sisters-in-law: Jane Van Lanen, Florida; Delores "Toots" Van Lanen, Green Bay; Gen Baumgart, Pulaski; brother-in-law Don Baumgart, Green Bay.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert "Bob"; one son, Joseph (Joey); a grandson, Robert; her parents; brothers, Tom and Pat Van Lanen; her father and mother-in-law, Anton R. and Anna (Ora) (Boerschinger) Baumgart; sisters-in-law, Eloise Baumgart, Marge Baumgart, Shirley Gebhart and Marcy Baumgart; brothers-in-law, Tony, Ken, Donald Ferrier and Jerry Gebhart.
Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Chris L. Kieffer, 46, of 7603W Riverview Drive, Manistique, Michigan, died on March 2, 2009. He was born May 21, 1962, in Kaukauna and attended Kaukauna High School. He was a graduate of Marinette High School. On February 6, 1982, he married the former Dawn M. Huffman in Marinette. Chris was formerly employed as the store manager for the Manistique Hardee's. He later became the regional restaurant director for K & L Enterprises and for Midwest Foods.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn Kieffer of Manistique; son, Benjamin; daughters, Kristan, Britteny, Linsey and Gabrielle; five grandchildren; parents, Howard and Betty Jean; brothers, James, Perry, David; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his sister, Jean Marie Schmitt.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. (EST), Thursday, March 5th, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.

Chris L. Kieffer, 46, of 7603W Riverview Drive, Manistique, went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 21, 1962, in Kaukauna, Wis., the son of Howard and Betty Jean (Malliet) Kieffer. He attended St. Aloysius Grade School and Kaukauna High School and was a graduate of Marinette High School with the Class of 1980. He continued his education at Marinette Technical College.
On Feb. 6, 1982, he married the former Dawn M. Huffman in Marinette. They moved to Manistique in April 1986.
Upon moving to Manistique, Chris was employed as the store manager for the newly-opened Hardee's Restaurant. He later became the regional restaurant director for K & L Enterprises, Inc. (Upper Peninsula Hardee's and Subway restaurants) from 1979-1999 and later for Midwest Foods (Hardee's) from 1999-2007.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manistique and the U.P. Whitetails. He was a past chairman of the Schoolcraft County C.B.C. fund-raiser and was a past president of the Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Chris is survived by: his wife, Dawn M. Kieffer of Manistique; son, Benjamin (Stephanie) Kieffer of Menominee; daughters, Kristan (David) Black of Lake Linden; Britteny (Greg) Schuetter of Manistique; Linsey A. Kieffer of Ann Arbor and Gabrielle M. Kieffer of Manistique; grandchildren, Ella, Anna, Finneas, Riley and Kaleb; parents, Howard and Betty Jean Kieffer of Marinette; brothers, James Kieffer of Kaukauna, Perry Kieffer of Menasha, Wis., and David (Lisa) Kieffer of Muskego, Wis.; his godchild, Sonia Wacker of Madison, Wis.; along with several nieces and nephews. Additional family members include; Alan and Bev Asp, P.J. & Lisa & Tyler Hinkson, Kevin and Linda Swanson, as well as Keith White and Vicki.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Marie Kieffer-Schmitt.

Larry Haack, Menasha, 56, died very unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 24, 2007. Larry was born in Green Bay on Jan. 26, 1951, the son of Lester and Joyce Haack of Combined Locks. He was a graduate of the Kimberly High School. Since 1969, he had worked at Appleton Papers Locks Mill, and currently operated a coating machine. Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and watching the glow of a good fire with good friends and good neighbors. Larry kept a beautiful vegetable garden at his home, and was always generous with the produce he gathered. Most of all, Larry will be remembered by everyone for his thoughtfulness and generosity. He was what you would call a genuine, good guy.
Larry is survived by his parents, Lester and Joyce Haack, Combined Locks; a daughter, Sherrie (John) Swanson, Kimberly and their children, Andy and Jordan; a son, Larry Haack, Jr., Menasha; his former wife, Pat Haack, Menasha; eight brothers and sisters, Carl (Sue) Haack, Menasha; Roy (Linda) Haack, Kimberly; Lester W. (Pam) Haack, Appleton; Mike (Kathy) Haack, Gillett; Susan Haack, Bonduel; Carol Nelson, Appleton; Julie Weyland, Appleton; Joyce (Greg) Sigl, Seymour. Michele Ann "Shelly" Reichardt, 52 of Appleton passed away Sunday August 10, 2014 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, as a result of a tragic accident. She was born December 16, 1961 in Green Bay, daughter of Patrick and Dolores "Toots" (nee' Vanden Plas) Van Lanen. Shelly graduated from Preble High School, Green Bay in 1980. In 1987, she moved to Minneapolis, MN and was accepted into the school of Occupational Therapy at the University of Minnesota, where she graduated in 1991. It was in Minnesota that Shelly met the love of her life. Randy and Shelly were married October 8, 1994. Their two incredibly beautiful daughters, Morgan and Kenzi were born in Minnesota. It was shortly thereafter the family moved back to Appleton to be closer to family and friends.
Shelly worked as an Occupational Therapist in Appleton at Affinity Health Care and for the past 10 years at Theda Care at Home. Shelly absolutely loved her work and spent her whole life caring for and helping others, both professionally and personally. She was an incredibly selfless person, who put everyone before herself. Shelly enjoyed her daily workout; going for walks, golfing, and bowling. She was very artistic, She enjoyed playing piano, and dancing a polka with her father. Shelly loved to entertain, and keeping holiday traditions with her family was very important. Her family meant the world to her. Everything she did revolved around her husband and her girls. She never missed a tennis match, basketball game, or whatever else the girls played. Shelly was their biggest cheerleader (even though she never knew the difference between a referee and an umpire).
Shelly is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Randy; their two daughters, Morgan and Kenzi; her mother, Dolores Van Lanen, Green Bay; sister, Mary Jo (Robert) Brokaw, Chanhassen, MN; brother, Patrick (Lisa) Van Lanen, Denmark, WI; father and mother-in-law Rodger and Lois Reichardt, Appleton; two brothers-in-law, Guy Reichardt (special friend, Debbie Dengel), Greenville, and Kevin (Jane) Reichardt, Appleton; She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shelly was preceded in death by her father Patrick; and both her paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents.
