Henry Hoffman Kaukauna Age 100, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the St. Paul Home, Kaukauna. He was born March 29, 1900, in Kaukauna, son of the late Balthazor and Magdeline (Yingling) Hoffman. On November 22, 1919, Henry married the former Lill ian Novak at a chapel in Marinette, they enjoyed 72 years of marriage together prior to her dea th July 25, 1992. Henry worked at Thilmany's for 42 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of St. Ma ry Catholic Church, Kaukauna, and the Thilmany Quarter Century Club. Henry recently enjoyed his 100 th birthday party of 200 friends and family members. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-la w, Bob (Dottie) Hoffman, Carl Hoffman (special friend, Carlene), Ken (Luann) Hoffman, all of Kaukaun a; Tuttie Hoffman, Hollandtown; a son-in-law, Larry Whitthun, Appleton; 51 grandchildre n, 112 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ceil Whittman, Kaukauna; Hel en Taylor, Green Bay; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three daughters and a s on-in-law, Marie (William) Jansen, Dorothy Whitthun, Betty VanSchyndel; a great-grandson, Jim Hoff man; a sister and six brothers. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Churc h, Kaukauna, with Father Robert Udulutsch officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna. Frien ds may call directly at the church from 2 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services. In lieu of flower s, a memorial fund has been established in his name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukaun a, is assisting the family with arrangements.

In June of 192 5, she married Theodore Wittman in Kaukauna; he preceded her in death. Ernstena A. Behling, "Stena," 84, Combined Locks, died Sunday morning, March 18, 2007, following a courageous battle with lung disease. She was born March 17, 1923, to the late Nicholas and Agnes (Yingling) Lom, in Combined Locks, where she was a resident all of her life. Stena enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, painting and other crafts.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and is survived by her loving husband, Raymond A. Behling, to whom she had been married for 56 years; three sons, Jeffrey Behling, Combined Locks; Douglas Behling, Little Chute; Todd Behling and special friend, Kay, Little Chute; five grandchildren, Traci (Mike) Schuh, Benji (Ann) Behling, Linsey, Nick, special friend, Heather and Amber (Andy) O'Connor; two great-grandchildren, Conner and Olivia Schuh; three sisters, Gretchen (Robert) Biese, Combined Locks; Betty (Glen) Aerts, Kimberly; Ione Jansen, Combined Locks.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Rodrick and Clifford Lom, and four sisters, Johanna Siegle, Rachel Jansen, Barbara DeCoster and Lorraine Jansen.
The funeral liturgy for Ernstena will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 East Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Father Jim Lucas and Father Bob Vandenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Combined Locks. Getchen Biese, 84, Combined Locks, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15, 2010, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Gretchen was born in Combined Locks, on October 31, 1925, daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (Yingling) Lom, one of the founding families of the Village of Combined Locks. She was a 1943 graduate of St. John High School in Little Chute, and on April 11, 1953, she married Robert H. Biese in Combined Locks.
Gretchen enjoyed flower gardening, baking, cooking, knitting, crocheting, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and extended family. Gretchen was a faithful and lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks.
In her younger years, she was employed for 15 years at Kimberly-Clark in the Research and Development Department, before leaving to raise her family. She also enjoyed bowling, camping, vacationing at Roberts Lake and baking lamb cakes for special occasions at the church.
Gretchen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Biese, Combined Locks; two children, Gregory R. (Penny) Biese, Appleton, and their children, Cortney Biese, Matthew Biese, Cara Biese and Michael Biese; and Mary Margaret L. (David) Eisley, Oshkosh, and their children, Benjamin (Elise) Eisley, Katherine (Tyler) Jandrin, Philip Eisley, Anne Eisley and Kenneth Bruski-Eisley and his fiancee, Desiree; and two great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Azailya Bruski. There are also two sisters, Betty (Glen) Aerts, Kimberly; and Ione Jansen, Combined Locks; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond Behling, Combined Locks; Dorothy Biese, Kimberly; and Grace Garvey, Freedom.

She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved them all very much.

Ione was born on July 23, 1929 to Nick and Agnes (Yingling) Lom. She was united in marriage to Lester Jansen on October 10, 1950. Ione enjoyed taking care of her yard and was always pulling the weeds. She was devoted to her faith and was a lifetime member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Most of all she loved her family and she always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ione is survived by her children; Susan Verhagen, Randy Jansen, and Rodney (Julie) Jansen, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Shirley Jansen and a son-in-law Dave Kempen. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester, her son Tim Jansen, and daughter Debra Kempen and her siblings.

Orville W. Yingling, 91, of Boulder Lake, died Monday, May 5, 2008, in Langlade Memorial Hospital, Antigo, WI. He was born January 21, 1917, in Kaukauna, WI, Son of the late Frank and Mary (Feller) Yingling. He married Hazel Alft in 1942. She preceded him in death in 1959. He married Beatrice Smits on September 30, 1961, at Kaukauna. She survives. He was raised in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1935. He was an Eagle Boy Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He received the Ad Altre Dei and the Silver Beaver Awards. Prior to WWII, he assisted in the planning and construction of Gardner Dam Boy Scout Camp at Langlade. During WWII, he served in the China Burma India Theater as a Master Sgt in the Signal Army Air Corps. He worked in Appleton as a Service Foreman for Wisconsin Telephone Company, which later became Wisconsin Bell. He retired in 1975 and moved to Boulder Lake where he was active in Langlade Little League as a coach. In Appleton, he was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society and Boy Scout Master for the church troop.
He was a member and lector at St. James and Stanislaus Catholic Congregation of White Lake and Langlade. He had a passion for the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Bea Yingling Boulder Lake; two daughters: Kathy (Charles) Frisk, Green Bay; Carol (Sam) Hendry, Riverview, FL; four grandchildren: Stacey Frisk, Erin Frisk, Andrea (Dave) Young, Marty Larkee; four great-grandchildren: Rhianna and Doug Young, Skylar and Madison Larkee; a brother, Jim (Joanne) Yingling Laona; a sister Dorothy (Gene) Sage, Chula Vista, AK.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife Hazel Alft; four brothers: Jerome, Donald, Norbert and Francis Yingling.
Services will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Langlade, Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul Koszarek officiating. Yingling, Francis Harold "Frank" AppletonAge 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Appleton Medical Cent er. He was born on August 29, 1927 to the late Frank and Mary (Feller) Yin gling. He was married to Dolores Giebisch on November 6, 1954. Francis ser ved in the Navy from 1945 to 1953. In 1953 he entered the US Marine Cor ps to become a Naval aviator. He served in Korea and Vietnam, retiri ng as a helicopter pilot in 1966, with the rank of Major.Friends from years ago will remember Frank fondly with the many hunting a nd fishing trips hours, they shared with him. Years ago Francis was acti ve in his Zion Lutheran Church and the Aim Intervention Program.Francis is survived by his wife; a son, Gregory (Paula) Yingling; a daught er, Laurie Yingling; a grandson, Jake, all of Appleton; two brothers: Orvi lle (Beatrice), Boulder Lake, Wisconsin; James (Joanne), Laona, Wisconsi n; and a sister, Dorothy (Gene) Sage, Arkansas. He was preceded in dea th by an infant daughter, Antonette; three brothers: Jerome, Donald and No rbert Yingling. He retired in 1986, after a dedicated career with the Soo Line Railroad. Willie also drove cars for Bergstrom Motors for many years.
He previously resided in Franklin Park, Ill. and Neenah, Wis.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn (Bestor); two daughters, Linda (Richard) Christensen, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Patricia Gilkey (significant other, Turner Reaney), Turtle Lake, Wis.; a granddaughter, Karen M. She was born August 27, 1915 in Kaukauna daughter of the late Reinha rd and Margaret (Heindl) Hoffman. Marge attended St. Mary's Grade Schoo l, Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School. In 1937, she marri ed Melvin Mainville, he preceded her in death in 1985. Marge was a lifelo ng resident of Kaukauna, where in the 1950's she was active with the gi rl scouts and in the 1960's had worked with the cub scouts. She was also f ormerly a Captain of the local Heart Fund Drive for 11 years. Presently s he was on the Council at Golden Venture and contributed to the newslette r. Eva H. Wenzel, age 92 died on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Appleton Health Center, Appleton, She was born on April 10, 1918 in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late Reinhard and Margaret (Heindl) Hoffmann. Eva married Rinert "Dick" Wenzel on June 28, 1941. She was a long-time member of the Kaukauna Community Health Associates and Holy Cross Catholic Church. Eva was employed as a librarian in the Children's Department at the Kaukauna Public Library for many years.
She is survived by a daughter: Susan Cash of LaCrosse; two grandsons: Steven (Rena) Cash of LaCrosse and Daniel Cash of Kaukauna; three grandchildren: Markos, Kiera and Christian; a sister: Doris Kerry of Shawano and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son: William; her husband; Rinert on September 12, 2009; three sisters: Irma (John) Hamilton; Gertrude (George) Kailhofer and Margaret (Melvin) Mainville; a brother: Henry (Mary) Hoffmann; and a brother-in-law: Jack Kerry.

Robert C. Hoffman, Kaukauna, age 89 died peacefully on May 17, 2014 at St. Paul Villa. He was born March 28, 1925 in Appleton, son of late Henry and Lillian (Novak) Hoffman. Robert graduated from Kaukauna High School and served in the Army during World War II. He then married Dorothy (Dottie) Hooyman on July 11, 1949. Robert was a devoted husband and father who lived in Kaukauna his entire life. He worked at Thilmany Pulp & Paper for 41 years and retired as a machinist on April 1, 1987. Robert, being a handyman, could fix almost anything. He loved working on small engines and making things run. Robert also loved watching the birds and animals outside.

Mrs. Donald Kenney of 300 Bicentennial Court, Kaukauna, age 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 1996, at Parkside Care Center following a short illness.
The former Evelyn Hoffmann was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late Reinhard and Elizabeth (Gustman) Hoffmann.
Ev was a graduate of Kaukauna High School, Class of 1933. She had been employed at Wiggie's Grocery Store for many years. Ev enjoyed her family, playing cards, and sewing. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Alter Society.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Edward Neudauer of Milwaukee, Sharon and Gerald Schulz of Travelers Rest, SC; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Pat and Judy Kenney of Kaukauna, Emmett "Jack" and Lisa Kenney of Kaukauna, and Lorraine (John) Ziegler of Oroville, CA; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1956; and a son, Thomas, in 1967.
The funeral service will be at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Robert Udulutsch officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

Quella, Thomas J.Thomas J. Quella, Appleton, age 84, passed away Thursday Oct. 6, 200 5, at Appleton Medical Center. Tom was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Appleton, t he son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Hoffman) Quella. He was united in mar riage to Eunice Krueger; she preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 1976. Tom w as employed by Wisconsin Distributing for many years, retiring in 198 4. He also owned and operated the One More Bar and together with his broth er Richard, the 400 Club. Tom was a longtime member of the Teamsters. He w as a veteran of World War II serving with the US Navy aboard the USS Salam onie "Ole Sal." Tom was stationed in the Pacific and would talk with pri de about his Navy days. Tom will be remembered as a hard worker and a go od provider. He enjoyed traveling and car racing, and actually drove a sto ck car in his younger days. But above all, he will be remembered as a fami ly man. Joan Reitzner, 86, went to her heavenly home Sunday, March 13, 2011. She was born to Joseph and Agnes (Hoffman) Quella on Nov. 4, 1924. Joan was united in marriage to Arnold (Heinie) Reitzner on Oct. 1, 1945. Heinie preceded her in death in 1995.
Joan loved spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed league bowling for many years. Joan was a longtime member of St. Therese Catholic Church.
Joan is survived by her nine children (spouses), 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her children are Vickie (Dick) Wunderlich, Rich (Colleen) Reitzner, Margie (Bruce) Jahnke, Pam Holdorf-Reitzner, Greg (Terrie) Reitzner, Beth (Ron) Van Handel, Ed Reitzner, Chris (Pam) Reitzner and Ann (Jerry) Olson. Her son, Arnold, Jr., preceded her in death in 1966.
Her grandchildren are Penny (Scott) Binley, Brian (Lisa) Wunderlich, Jill (Steve) Peterson, Brad (Lindsey) Reitzner, Shane (Hannah) Reitzner, Josh Jahnke, Andrea (Cindy) Holdorf, Eric (Ashley) Holdorf, Melissa (Tyler) Sass, Nick Reitzner, Katie (Doug) Salmi, Tim (Stacey) Reitzner, Jason, Justin and Jessica Van Handel, Ryan, Chelsea Reitzner and Lance Olson.
Joan is also survived by brothers, Raymond (Marilyn) Quella and William Quella; a sister, Margaret (Andrew "Bud") Kangas; sisters-in-law, Gladys Van Dalen and Elaine Quella.
Joan was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Kenneth and Richard Quella.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave., with the Rev. William Hoffman officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. The visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.

William A. "Bill" Quella, of Menasha, age 86, passed away on November 11, 2013 (Veterans Day) at St. Elizabeth's Hospital with his family by his side. He was born March 10, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Agnes Quella.
Bill married Ardys Johnson (also known as "Susie") on January 31, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church, Appleton. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1996. Bill served in the Korean War. The Fox Valley was home to him and he was a proud semi-truck driver all his working years, retiring in 1989.
The cottage on Lake Winnebago was a special gathering place for family and friends before Mom and Dad were even married. A lot of wonderful memories were made there. Mom and Dad moved to "The Lake" in 1991. Next to his family, one of his biggest joys was spending time outdoors and in the woods, as his hobby was chopping firewood.
The Catholic faith was very important to Bill, and he was a Charter Member of St. Gabriel's Parish, Neenah. Family was also very important and he is survived by his daughter Susan (Greg) Magalski, four sons: Peter, David (Diane), Tony, and Steve Quella; four grandchildren: Brad Magalski, Becky (Brian) Griep, Brian (fiancée' Sarah Casperson) and Mike Quella. He is further survived by a brother Ray (Marilyn) Quella and a sister Margaret (Bud) Kangas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers: Tom, Kenny, Rich, and his sister Joan Reitzner.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Robert Lexa officiating. The visitation will be held at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, with a prayer service held at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM until the hour of Mass. Full military honors will follow the service performed by the US Army and the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name.
Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. We will always keep him close in our hearts and in our prayers. Many thanks to family and friends for their support. The family would also like to thank the medical staff at St. E's for their wonderful care and compassion.

Raymond J. Quella, of Appleton, passed away Friday evening, March 13, 2015, at the age of 86. Ray was born in Appleton on September 4th, 1928, to the late Joseph and Agnes (Hoffman) Quella. He worked at Valley Ready Mix (now MCC) from June 1953 to September 1993. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and spent 14 months in Korea. On May 19th, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Merrill. The couple has enjoyed 63 years together.
Ray is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Appleton; son Bruce (friend Teresa) Quella, Larsen; grandson Ben (Jenny) Quella, Appleton; great-grandson Jacob Quella, Appleton; sister, Margie Kangas, Appleton; and sister-in-law, Elaine Quella, Appleton. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings Tom (Eunice) Quella, Ken (Millie) Quella, Richard Quella, Bill (Susie) Quella, Joan (Arnold) Reitzner, and Andrew "Bud" Kangas.
A memorial service will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, March 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 414 W. Lawrence St. Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM CAP officiating, followed immediately by full military honors performed by Appleton Legion Post #38. Elaine Beattie, age 85 of Neenah, passed away surrounded by her family, at her home on Wednesday morning, February 4, 2015. Elaine was born in Appleton on August 25, 1929, daughter of the late Matthias and Anna (Fischer) Hoffmann. She was a 1947 graduate of the Appleton High School. She attended Fox Valley Technical Institute where she studied data processing. As a young woman she taught dance in Waupaca, Freedom, Kaukauna, and Menasha. She was also active as a Physical Education teacher at St. Joseph School in Appleton and was a teachers' aide to special need students at Highland, Huntley, and McKinley schools in Appleton until her retirement in 1997. Elaine loved to play Bingo, going out for lunch (especially with the Birthday Club), and until her eyesight gave out, reading. Elaine was a loving grandmother who doted on each of her grandchildren, and was an important part of their upbringing. She was always there with an encouraging word, hugs and kisses galore, or maybe a scratch on the back.
Elaine is survived by four children: Jane (Jesse) Schiltz of Neenah; Patrick Beattie of Neenah; Frank (Ginger) Beattie of Neenah; and Sue (Mark) Tillman of Neenah; twenty grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Richard (Joann) Hoffman of Marshfield; and two sisters: Doris (Cyril) Stadler of Appleton and Sylvia (LeRoy) Sauer of Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hoffmann, Ina DeCleene, and Jean Baumann; and two brothers-in-law: Jerry Kettner and Cliff Apitz. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maxwell, a brother Matthias Hoffman, Jr., sisters Mary Kettner and Virginia Apitz, and her in-laws: Nancy (Herbert) Byatt, Nick Baumann, and Vince DeCleene.
The funeral liturgy for Elaine will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger Street in Neenah, with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Sylvia M. Sauer, 85 of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
Sylvia was born July 25, 1931 preceded by her parents Matthew and Anna (Fischer) Hoffmann Sr.
Sylvia attended St Therese Elementary School 1st through 9th grade and graduated from Appleton West in 1950. On September 25, 1952 Sylvia married Le Roy Sauer and was a stay at home mom and home-maker. She enjoyed an organic, holistic lifestyle and was a resident of Appleton most of her life. She was a much valued charter member of her parish, St. Thomas More and enjoyed helping many hours at church for 40 years with bulletins, bingo nights, and funeral dinners. Going to Florida for 4 months, January to the first of May, from 1997 to 2007 was one of her life enjoyments. She loved spending the holidays with family and friends, especially putting up all of the decorations at Christmas time. The years of camping, traveling, including trips to Hawaii were also her cherished pleasures.
Sylvia is survived by a loving husband of 64 years Le Roy and children Linda Knapton, Gary Sauer, Thomas Sauer and by her granddaughter Jennifer Knapton. She is furthered survived by one brother, Richard (Joan) Hoffmann; one sister, Doris Stadler and brothers-in-law Cliff Apitz, Cy Stadler, Richard Zemke and sister-in-law JoAnn Chase.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra; one brother, Mathias Hoffmann; three sisters: Virginia Apitz, Mary Kettner, and Elaine Beattie; two brothers-in-law, Jerold Kettner, and Maxwell Beattie.
Visitation for Sylvia will be held Friday, March 24th, at Valley Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at St. Thomas More Church, 1810 N. McDonald Street on Saturday, March 25th from 9:00 am - 10:45 am followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father Gerald Falk officiating.
