    Obituary:
    Adam R. "Protein" Miller, age 49, of Shiocton, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his residence following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Adam was born on July 30, 1958, in Appleton, son of Adam and Mary Jo (Bellin) Miller. On September 8, 1988, he was united in marriage to Susan Spalding in Appleton. He formerly worked for 4X Concrete, Menasha Transport and UPS for 13 years until poor health forced his retirement in May of 2007. He loved to hunt, fish, camping, bowling, NASCAR Racing, playing cribbage with his family and playing his harmonica.
    Adam is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters: Rebecca and Michelle and a son Adam, all at home; his mother, Mary Jo Miller, Appleton; two brothers: Carey (Bonnie) Miller, Kimberly; Mark (Karie) Miller, Greenville; two sisters: Pat (Bill) Carpenter, Arizona; and Diane (Gary) Tesch, Appleton. He is also survived by Sue's family: John (Peggy) Spalding, Menasha; Steve (Liz) Spalding, Tim Spalding, Terry Spalding, Tom (Kris) Spalding, all of Appleton; Martha Spalding, Bill Spalding; Menasha and Mary Johnson; Oshkosh. He is further survived nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He is preceded in death by his father Adam, brother-in-law Dan Spalding, mother-in-law Pat Spalding and his grandparents.
    Funeral Services for Adam will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton with Fr. Bob VandenBerg and Sr. Pauline Feiner officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Shiocton on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. and also on Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
    Special thanks to Dr. Steve Howard, Dr. Ian Robins and the staff at UW Hospital in Madison; Dr. Timothy Goggins and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology; Dr. Darya Alexander and David Bond and the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition and also Geri at Comfort Keepers.
    A memorial fund has been established.
