    Steiner, Caroline (Pingel) Caroline (Pingel) Steiner, age 80, of Chilton died on November 25, 2011. She was born June 21, 1931, daughter of the late Carl (Otto) and Laura (Wildenburg) Pingel. She graduated in 1950 from New Holstein High School. She married Melvin Steiner of New Holstein on June 19, 1951. Following her marriage, Caroline and her husband went into dairy & poultry operation, and she later worked at the Inter Parish Ministry for 17 years. Caroline and her husband began the St. Charles Parish Picnic in 1980 that continues to this day as the Good Shepherd Parish Picnic. Caroline knew that the youth of her community was an invaluable resource and volunteered 35 years by leading in 4-H Clubs and Catholic Tech Weekends. She was a member of the Daughters' of Isabella and Christian Mothers for many years. Her humble service to others and love for her family was unmatched. Caroline was always willing to help others while asking nothing in return. Survivors include her children, Alan (Betty) Steiner of Cascade; Judy (Elmer Jr.) Schisel of New Holstein; Helen (Tom) Schmidlkofer of Chilton; Paul (Sheila) Steiner of River Falls; Linda (Joe) Schad of Chilton; Mary (Ed) Moede of New Holstein; Jane (Jeff) Geiser of Elkhart Lake; Mark (Deb) Steiner of New Holstein; Kathy (Ed) Crowley of Winneconne; Tom (Linda) Steiner of Chilton; Clare (Kevin) Welker of Appleton; Lisa (Greg) Ryerson of Deerfield; Joe (Susie) Steiner of Kewaunee; Beth Schilling of Lodi, Amy (Bryan) Rolph of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Angie (Patrick) Jackson, Tim (Tammy) Schisel, Kim, Lynn, & Eric Schmidlkofer, Matthew (Ashley), Luke, Monica & Trisha Steiner, Kristine, Joey (Laura) Schad, Michael (LeAnne), & Amanda Moede, David & JJ Vogel, Jeremy & Cara Steiner, Alina, Abigail, Alex & Dominic Steiner, Samantha & Melissa Welker, Alexandria Steiner, Nathan, Johnathon & Katie Schilling, Morgan, Marcus & Carson Rolph; step grandchildren, Mike (Judy) Backhaus, Brad (Jennifer), Denise (Tom), Rick (Nicole) Keith (Rena); great-grandchildren, Lily, Grace, Olivia, Travis, Hyla, Mia and Wesley; 10 step great-grandchildren; a step great-great-grandchild; her brothers and sister, Chuck (Carol) Pingel, Jerry (special friend Jane Winkler) Pingel, Carol Pingel, Virginia Hall; and her in-laws, Ralph (Alice) Steiner, Alphonse (Fran) Steiner. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends as well as thousands of acquaintances. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; a son, David; brothers-in-law, Ken Pingel & Stan Hall; and a step great grandchild, Taylor Feldman. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Charlesburg. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011, and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Rosary will be prayed, followed by the Parish Vigil Service Monday evening at the funeral home beginning at 7 p.m. A very heartfelt thanks goes to the many doctors, caregivers, friends, neighbors, hospital and nursing home staff who reached out to aid Mom as her challenges became insurmountable.
