    Elizabeth "Betty" A. Berghuis (Lamers), age 83 died on Saturday October 14, 2017. She was born on September 23, 1934 in Kaukauna, WI. Daughter of the late Hugo and Genevieve (Meier) Lamers, Betty was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1952. Betty married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Berghuis on May 12, 1953 at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna, and together they had eight children and shared 54 years of marriage together. Family, friends, and food were Betty's passion and delight. Lifting a kettle of her soup normally required two people, and it was a certainty that no one would ever leave her home hungry.
    Betty is survived by her seven children: Joe (Patty) Berghuis, Kaukauna; Jennie (John) Ruys, Combined Locks; Rob Berghuis, Sherwood; Amy (Mark) Gocker, Kaukauna; Bill (Lori) Berghuis, Brillion; Tina (Bill) Stuyvenberg, Wausau; Betsy (Mark) Keuler, Wrightstown; 27 grandchildren: Matt (Stephanie), Mark (Ashley) Berghuis, and Katie (Jeff) Morris; Rob (Trisha), Al (Jen), and John Ruys; Lindsey (Chris) Strickland, Luke (Stacey) Berghuis, and Samantha (Ben) Merritt; Phil (Leah) Gocker, Laura (Travis) Meyer, Mike, Claire, and Andrea Gocker; Alicia (Tim) Doell, Abby (fiancé Josh Dwyer), Beth (special friend Noah), and Bob Berghuis; Liz (Armando) Liptak, Lauren, and Anna Stuyvenberg; Al, Margo, Hannah, Ella, David, and Sam Keuler; eighteen great-grandchildren and counting, one brother: Bob (Maryann) Lamers, Kaukauna; and two sisters: MaryLou (Pete) Vanevenhoven, Kaukauna; and Donna (Stan) Fisher, Kaukauna, brothers-in-law: Jack Berghuis, Hilbert and Tom(Terri) Berghuis, Darboy, David Sturm, Fla.; and sisters-in-law: Joan VanDyke, Kaukauna and Betty(David) Hahn, Hiltonhead, S.C.
    She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert, her infant son James, her parents Hugo and Genevieve (Meier) Lamers, her father and mother-in-law John and Mary Berghuis, her brothers-in-law Bill VanDyke and Del Brayton, her sisters-in-law: Rose Berghuis, Ruth Sturm, and Mary DeBruin.
    A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday October 20, 2017 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Mary Church, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna with Fr. Willard Van De Loo, assisted by Deacon Steve Vande Hey, officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in her name.     Mother/Grandmother/Sister/Friend, your life was fully lived, but your time on this earth has come to an end. Rest well as your work here is done and give Dad a big kiss from all of us. We all love you, and you will be wholeheartedly missed.
