    Obituary:
Clarence J. Pethan, husband, father, brother, son, friend, and neighbor, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 9th. He was 85 years old. Clarence was born on November 15th, 1927 in the Town of Brothertown. He was the youngest of 6 children to the late Joseph and Mary (Escher) Pethan, also from Chilton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Suttner) Pethan; his grandchild: Ashlee Grube; four brothers Gilbert, Herbert, Robert and Arthur; as well as his sister Evangeline. His cat Tomette was also recently called home.
He attended school at St. Charles through the 8th grade. He married Doris Suttner on May 24th, 1955 and they had eight children.
Survivors include his dear friend: Pat Boushley; children: Julie Grube of Chilton, Charlie (Cindy) Pethan of Atlanta, GA, Joyce (Brian) Anhalt of Chilton, Jan Frechette and Mike Boll of Chilton, Joan (Brendan) O'Toole of Chilton, Shirley Pethan of Atlanta, Rick (Amy) Pethan of Germantown, Cindy (Kendall) Thiel of Chilton; his grandchildren: Josh & Emily Grube, Christopher (Madeleine) Pethan, Chandler Pethan, Michelle (Nick) Konen, Brad (Vickey) Anhalt, Heather (Steve) Gebhart, Taylor & Nicole Frechette, Austin, Carson & Spencer Pethan, McKenzie, Brady & Carli Thiel; and 7 great-grandchildren: Micah, Maleah, Alyssa, Addison, Aidan, Tristan & Braelyn along with another arriving soon.
Clarence started working in the Feed Mill making .95 cents/hour and later worked for the Kohler Co. in Kohler from 1953 to 1959 where he was promoted to the Engine and Electrical Plant making $2.25/hour. After his promotion he felt he was a wealthy man. In 1957 Clarence bought the family farm and continued farming there until 1989, at which time he retired. After 6 months of retirement, Clarence went to work at Daun Services, as a school bus driver. He drove bus for 20 years until his retirement there in 2010.
Clarence enjoyed riding horses and was a member of a Horse Riding Club for over 40 years. He rode in the Milwaukee Circus Museum Parade for many years and also volunteered at the Calumet County Fair for 10 years checking admission papers for horses. He and Pat enjoyed dancing together throughout the area and Clarence never passed up an opportunity to savor a Friday Night Fish Fry. Clarence also enjoyed playing cards and he was good with his hands.
He was very mechanical and could take things apart that were broken and put them back together again. He was, however, most happy when his entire family got together to cherish each others company.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Charles Parish where he had served as treasurer and volunteered as a lector and usher most of his life.
The family would like to thank Calumet Medical Center and all the members of the Cardiac Rehab team and especially Ursula Hess Mueller for the compassionate care he received over this past year.
A special thanks to Ms. Patricia Boushley of Neenah, WI for her friendship and companionship she gave Clarence for the last 30 years. Pat has been an inspiration and an angel in disguise. Clarence was thankful that she warmly welcomed memories from the past and he enjoyed building memories with her for the future.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Larry Abler O.F.M Cap. officiating.
