    Meier, Merlin George Merlin George Meier, age 77, of Chatham, IL for over 40 years, died Tuesda y, November 2, 2004 at 9:09 a.m. at St. John's Hospital. He was born Febru ary 28, 1927 in Neenah, Wisconsin, son of Peter and Verona Hilger Meier. M r. Meier was a Marine Veteran serving in WWII. He retired from Ohio Casual ty Insurance. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Chatham Survivors include three sons: Steve (wife, Kathi) Meier of Aurora, Scott ( wife, Sandi) Meier of Chatham, Martin (wife, Lori) of Loami; a daughter, B eth (husband, Matthew) Forgas of Walworth, Wisconsin; seven grandchildre n: Patrick, Amanda, and Maggie Meier, Cory and Andrea Forgas, Shauna Vogl er and Zachary Meier; two great-grandchildren: Talen and Eli Vogler; two b rothers: Claude Meier and Robert (wife, Jean) Meier of Wisconsin; two sist ers: Lilas (husband, Chester) and Jen Halfmann of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice, and a brother, Clifford. Visitation: Friday, November 5, 2004 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Staab Polk M emorial Home, 201 S. Main, Chatham, IL 62629.     Dietzen, Lilas M.Lilas M. Dietzen, 64, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2006. She was bo rn on Jan. 19, 1942, in Hilbert, Wisc. to Peter and Verona (Hilger) Meie r. Lilas graduated from Hilbert High School. She married Chester Dietz en on June 18, 1963. After raising six sons, she worked at Bel/Kaukauna Ch eese until her retirement in 2005. Lilas was a very private person wi th a quick witted personality and always with a smile. She enjoyed li fe in the simple ways and hearing the pitter patter of little feet.Lilas is survived by her husband, Chester Dietzen; sons Douglas, Russell ( Nancy Jo), Michael, Gregory (Laurie), Steven (Pami), and Daniel; brother s, Claude Meier, and Robert (Jean) Meier; sister, Lovey Halfman. Lil as is also survived by her grandchildren, in whom she found great joy, Kyr a, Avery, Bailey, Katlynn, Jack, and Kyle; and other nieces, nephews, a nd friends.Lilas is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Verona (Hilger) Meie r; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford (Delores) Meier, and Merlin (Bern ie) Meier; brother, Donald Meier; brother-in-law, Donald Halfman; and sist er-in-law, Sylvia Meier.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Holy Angels Ca tholic Church in Darboy at 5 p.m. with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. Visita tion will be from 3 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flower s, a memorial fund has been established. Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St.
