Obituary:
Rosemary E. (Merkes) Tiede, Menasha, age 84, passed away after a short illness at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center on Monday, February 19, 2007. She was born in Appleton on December 10, 1922 the daughter of the late Joseph and Maribelle (Wiegand) Merkes. In May, 1943 she married Lyle Tiede who preceded her in death in 1983. Rosemary was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul, Appleton. Rosemary is survived by her children: Tyrone (Suzanne) Tiede, Menasha; Terri Hansen and special friend, Charlie Polar, Neenah; William (Polly) Tiede, Menasha; grandchildren: Samantha Tiede, Michelle Tiede, Robert Tiede and Peter Hansen, Jr.; step-grandchildren: Jeffery VanderZanden, Jessica Bushman and Michael Bushman; sister-in-law and good friend of Rosemary, Evelyn Merkes; brothers-in-law: Leroy (Lois) Tiede and Arlin (Eileen) Tiede; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; step-father, Walter Miller; brother, Joseph Merkes; and brother-in-law, Lavern Tiede. The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with Fr. Robert Karuhn officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park. The family extends a special thank you to the staff and friends at Oakridge Gardens for their loving care.
