Jerome Theodore Kunstman, age 81, passed away peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice on January 15, 2014, surrounded by loving family.
Grumpy was born on July 1, 1932, son of the late Harry and Anna (Nabbefeld) Kunstman. He was united in marriage to Patricia VandenHogen on April 9, 1958. Grumpy was proud to be a part of the family business, Grumpy's Pub, for 25 years. Grumpy was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed playing cribbage with friends. He was also an animal lover and greatly enjoyed woodworking with bird houses and feeders.
Grumpy is survived by his wife Pat; children: Diane (Jim) Baugh and Bob (Lisa) Kunstman, Appleton; Joe (Nancy) Kunstman, Seymour; and Jim (Kelly) Kunstman and Pat (Kym) Hudak, Grand Chute; grandchildren: Tony, Tamarine, Patrick Jr., Joshua, Alexis, Rachael, and David; and Sister-in-law: Mary Lou Kunstman and family. Grumpy is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth "Butch" Kunstman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. LAWRENCE ST., APPLETON, with Monsignor James VandenHogen officiating. Grumpy's family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
