    Obituary:
Bernard Van Straten, 87, lifelong resident of Ledgeview, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 2, with his family at his side.
He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Ledgeview to Peter and Louise (DeCleene) Van Straten. When his parents retired, Bernard took over the farm.
Farming and gardening gave him great satisfaction. An enthusiastic inventor never more at home than when welding in his garage, Bernard created every sort of small motorized car, and even an electric swing. His children and grandchildren were his willing testers. His pride and joy was a modified Model T that he built as a young boy.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosemary (DeVleeshower) Van Straten; and his seven "favorite" daughters, Carol (Joe) Biese, Green Bay; Marlene (Jim) Johnson, Houston, Texas; Darlene (Hann Shyu) Van Straten, Portsmouth, R.I.; Debbie Van Straten (Tom Zwicker) Germantown, Wis.; Lou Ann Bannow, Suamico; Gail (Bob) Cuene, Ledgeview; Judy (Joe) Siudzinski, Ledgeview; and "most favorite" son, Ron (Jessie), Ledgeview; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and three well-worn tractors. Also surviving are his two sisters, Sister Mary Conrad and Sister Mary Louise of Elm Grove, Wis.
He is preceded in death by his son, Wayne.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, for a public visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John the XXIII Circle, off Sportsman Drive, town of Ledgeview. A family only prayer will be held at 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com .
Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, (920) 336-8702, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bernard married DeVleeshower, Rosemary 10 Jul 1946. Rosemary (daughter of Devleeschower, Alphonse and Baeten, Petronella) was born 4 Mar 1928; died 3 Nov 2011. [Group Sheet]
