    Viola D. "Vi" VanRyzin, age 100, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Appleton Health Center. Vi was born on September 29, 1909, in Kaukauna, the daughter of late Edward and Alvina (Fleith) Mitchell. She married Henry Van Ryzin on June 7, 1952; he preceded her in death in March 1974. Vi worked at the Fox River Paper Company for many years and then worked for Hopfensberger Meat Market. She was a longtime member of the Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery work, crocheting, playing cards, bingo, puzzles and gardening. She also had a love for music and dancing. Vi loved outdoor sports with her family. Her family was the center of her life.
    Vi is survived by two daughters: Marion (Doug) Steward, Appleton, and Beverly (Reuben) Stingle, Black Creek; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her four brothers: Edward Mitchell, Henry Mitchell, Clarence Mitchell and Lester Mitchell.
    Funeral services for Vi will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 E. Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
    The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Scott and Heidi at Appleton Health Care; the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living, and ThedaCare Home Hospice, especially nurse Suzi.

    Leo H. Mitchell, Kaukauna, 68, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at home on May 4, 2013. Leo was born in Kaukauna, WI, on April 11, 1945, the son of the late Peter and Ella Mitchell. Leo was a graduate of Kaukauna High School. On May 11, 1967, he married Kathleen Rademaker at St. Mary's Church in Kaukauna. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Michelle and Michael. They lost Kathy in 1982 after a lifelong battle with cancer. Leo married Dorothy La Plant on December 2, 1983, at St. Mary's Church in Kaukauna and was a great step-father to six children. Leo retired from Stoelting Inc., Kiel, WI, in 2010 after 38 years of employment. Prior to Stoelting, Leo worked at Calumet Corp. in Algoma, WI, and MellowGold Dairy in Kaukauna. Leo looked forward to his spring vacations with his brothers, brother-in-law and nephews for over 30 years at Lac Vieux Desert, WI. During the summer, the Mitchell family spent a week vacation at Crivitz, starting with a few cottages until they were able to rent 8 cottages together and spent over 30 years together and is still ongoing. Deer hunting in fall was another favorite. Spending time with his brothers was more enjoyable than getting an occasional buck. Leo liked to make things with wood and completed "4-apartment" bird houses for each of his eight children. Many memories were made with the twelve grandchildren over the years.
    Leo is survived by his wife, Dot Mitchell, Kaukauna; four daughters: Michelle, Appleton; Sharon (Kevin) Johnson, Kaukauna; Susan (Keith) Thon, Kaukauna; and Linda (Dan) Luneau, East Troy; as well as well as four sons: Mike (Tammy) Mitchell, Appleton; James (Barb) La Plant, Black Creek; Dave (Pam) La Plant, Freedom; and John (Lisa) La Plant, Kaukauna; and twelve grandchildren: Kyla Mitchell, Christina and Christopher Johnson, Patrick and Christopher Van Camp, Trevor La Plant, Angie and Danielle La Plant, Haydn and Kiarra Thon, McKoy and Bayler Luneau. He is further survived by his sisters and brothers: Marion Biesterveld, Barb (Gene) Vanderloop, Boniface (Elsie) Mitchell, Matt (Judy) Mitchell, and Larry (Linda) Mitchell; Kathy's brother Jim Rademaker; Kathy's sister-in-law Karen Rademaker; Dot's mother Clara Basler; Dot's sister and brothers: Carol (Bruce) Kaehler, Ken (Sue) Basler and Patrick (Diane) Basler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
    Leo was preceded in death by his first wife Kathy; his parents Peter and Ella Mitchell; his sisters Edna and Rita Mitchell; his in-laws Don and Irene Rademaker, and Hercel Basler; sister-in-law Rose Rademaker; brothers-in-law Virgil Biesterveld and Richard Rademaker; and nephew Jim Mitchell.

He was born on February 16, 1918 in Detroit, MI t he son of the late Forest and Madeline (Brill) Mitchell. On February 27, 1 943 he married Harriet Kuhn in Kaukauna. She passed away on September 1 4, 1987. He served his country in the United States Navy during World W ar II in the South Pacific Theater. He returned to Kaukauna and took ov er operation of his father's tavern formerly known as Speedy's in Kaukaun a. After his retirement he was a well known bartender at the Starlite Cl ub until he was 80 years old. Speedy was an avid Packer fan, and was kno wn to love a good game of cribbage.     Jerry Mitchell, age 81 of Appleton, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 in a Florida hospital. Jerry was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on November 30, 1934, son of the late Lester and Florence (Van De Hey) Mitchell and spent most of his life in the Fox Valley area. He was a 1953 graduate of the Appleton High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1959, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1976 - both from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. On June 20, 1959, Jerry married Ann Van Gompel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. Most of his working career was spent at the Kimberly - Clark Corporation. Jerry retired in 1995 as a Senior Engineering Manager. Following his retirement, he and Ann divided their time between Wisconsin and Florida. He loved to play golf and cards, as well as traveling in his retirement years. He was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Appleton, was a Licensed Professional Engineer from 1963 until 2008, belonged to the VFW and American Legion, the Moose Lodge, and the B.P.O.E. In his younger years, the couple enjoyed bowling in the church league and Jerry always looked forward to deer hunting with his son, Michael. Jerry also loved going out to Ann Marie's house on Lake Winnebago and helping her with various chores. Visiting with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter was also a great joy for Jerry. While in Florida, Jerry was an active volunteer at Edison Community College as well as Fawcett Memorial Hospital.
    Jerry is survived by his loving wife: Ann Mitchell of Appleton and Port Charlotte, Florida; his son: Michael (special friend Jamie) Mitchell of Oshkosh; his daughter: Ann Marie Mitchell of Stockbridge; his granddaughter: Megan Mitchell of Milwaukee; his great-granddaughter: Lola Mitchell of Milwaukee. Also surviving are his in-laws: Clement Van Gompel, James (Frances) Van Gompel, Therese Bednarowski, Bonnie Van Gompel, and Sandra Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Lloyd Mitchell; Ann's parents: Vincent and Johanna Van Gompel; a sister-in-law: Agnes Van Gompel; brothers-in-law: John Bednarowski and Gerald Van Gompel.
    A funeral service with full military honors for Jerry will be held at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Fr. Gerald Falk will be officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service.

    Lloyd F. Mitchell, age 76, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. Lloyd was born on February 27, 1936 to the late Lester and Florence (Van De Hey) Mitchell in Appleton. On May 10, 1958, he married Sandy Winters, and together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Lloyd worked for Curwood of New London for over 40 years. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, golfing, bowling and watching the Packers play, but above all, he loved being with his family.
    He is survived by his loving wife Sandy, three wonderful children; Keith (Linda Stache) Mitchell, Barbara (Mike Hurley) Mitchell, and Steven (Laura Konitzer) Mitchell; grandchildren, Jestiss and Tyler and great granddaughter, Akira.     Robert A. "Mitch" Mitchell, age 71, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Mercy Medical Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Bob was born to the late Mayor of Appleton, Clarence and Elsie (Liewergen) Mitchell on March 31, 1943 in Appleton. Bob was united in marriage to Carol Krupka on December 15, 1970. He graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1962 and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for four years, spending 14 months in Vietnam.
    Bob spent his childhood summers with his sister at Camp Wild Rose where he learned how to ride horseback. He worked for the City of Appleton for many years and became a member of the Appleton Police Department where he retired in 1999 after 31 years of service. Bob loved photography. For many years he was a wedding photographer, but he often traveled long distances to photograph many of nature's beauties. One of his passions was riding his motorcycle. He and his wife Carol were members of the Goldwing Road Riders Association, local Chapter Five. Bob was also a state coordinator for AARP defensive driving.
    Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carol; his sister Judy (Homer) Bishop; his brothers-in-law: Francis (Bonnie) Krupka, Norbert (Mary Ann) Krupka, James (Kay) Krupka, Jerome (Peg) Krupka, and John (Bonnie) Krupka; sisters-in-law: Virginia (Larry) Miller, Marie (David) Draper, Jean Krupka, and Barbara Krupka; and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Baby Mitchell; his brothers-in-law: Joseph Krupka, Dennis Krupka, and George Krupka; his great nephew David Schneider; and his great-great nephew Matthew Standish.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, with Father Don Zuleger officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bob's name.     Obituary:
    Audrey M. Noie, age 95, of Appleton, passed away with family at her side on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. She was born on July 24, 1922 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Ella (Smith) Mitchler, one of four children.
    On December 22, 1942 Audrey married George B. Noie in Blackstone, Virginia before his deployment in the U.S Army during World War II. Together they were blessed with four children; Sheri, Cindy, Jeff and George Jr.
    In the early years Audrey was an active Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, golfed nearly every week and the family will always treasure those vacations spent at the trailer at Evergreen Campsites at Lake Kussel.
    Audrey and George were a perfect match, they were both avid Packer fans and had season tickets; never missing a game. For those away games watched in the comfort of their own home, not a word was to be spoken so that they could watch the game undisturbed. Most recently for her 92nd birthday Audrey's family had taken her to the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame Museum. She played "tour guide" and was able recall any and all names, games, or items on display.
    They enjoyed many wonderful years of retirement together. They embarked on their creative-side and sold many of their wooden crafts at local art fairs. For fourteen years they annually spent their winters in Arizona enjoying the much warmer weather and golfing.
    Audrey is survived by her four loving children, Sheri (Cliff) Doering, Cindy (Tom) Steffl, Jeff (Barbara) Noie and George Noie, Jr.; her grandchildren, Brian (Susan) Helf, Aericka Helf, Chris (Tanya) Steffl, Phil (Ali) Noie, Kim (Brock) Noie, Jordan Noie and Jason Noie and her great-grandchildren, Joseph Helf, Alyssa Noie, Carson Adrian, Ashton Steffl and Piper Steffl. Audrey is further survived by her sister, Jeanne Lemberg and her brother, Dale Mitchler.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, on March 11, 2012; her brother, Bill Mitchler and her two dear godchildren, David and Lisa Lemberg. Audrey was recently preceded in death by her childhood friend, Beata Huss. Within the past two years they shared their 75th High School Class Reunion. Beata passed this October 9, 2017.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at ST. JOSPEH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM. CAP officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton.     Evelyn A. Nelson, Kaukauna, age 93, died peacefully at Atrium Post Acute Care, Little Chute on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. Ev was born to the late Bud and Margaret (Fassbender) Boser on January 26, 1924. She married Lewis Nelson on Christmas Eve, 1941. Ev and Louie owned and operated the TOWN TAXI in Kaukauna. After Lewis died in 1957, Ev continued to operate the cab business until 1977 when a stroke ender her ability to drive.
    In 1985, when Round House Manor was completed across the river from the cab office, Evelyn became one of the first residents to move there. She did not let the paralysis of her left arm and hand hinder her ability to create delicious meals and scrumptious desserts for family and friends.
    Evelyn is survived by two daughters and one son, all of Kaukauna: Bonnie (Dennis) Hietpas, Sue (Raymond) Vander Velden and Bud Nelson; grandchildren: Keith (Sarah), Justi (Ed) and Kip Vander Velden, Bob (Janelle) and Shannon (Kim) Hietpas; great grandchildren: Terry, Haley and Claire Vander Velden, Ian Gioacchini, Shaylen and Jordan Hietpas and Kyle Davey-Hietpas; and great great grandchild: Addison Hietpas. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
    Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lewis; and step father Roy Rupert.

    Joseph Leonard Mitchell, 70, passed away on Thursday, October 04, 2012 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. Joe was born at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, on September 19, 1942, to the late Leonard and Bethel "Dolly" Mitchell. A 'fast-stepping cross country man", he received nine letters in sports and was third in state in cross country and the mile for Kimberly High School. Graduating in 1960, Joe took classes at St. Norbert College and then joined the United States Army, eventually serving under the Assistant Chief of Staff for Force Development in the Pentagon. He was honorably discharged in February 1964. On December 16, 1967, Joe married Judith Ann Koehler at Holy Name Church in Kimberly. They lived and raised their family in Menasha. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing. Joe and Judy also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and especially their time in California, where they bought a winter home in Palm Springs. Judy preceded him in death in October 1999. As author, instructor, and speaker for the paper industry, much of Joe's career was spent traveling throughout the United States and Canada. Although rated at 100% disabled by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Joe functioned as a member or officer of many organizations. Joe was president of AAL Branch 119, secretary of Fox Community Credit Union, and president and proud member of the Swamp Angels. Other activities included work with Xerox, TAPPI (Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry), CUMIS (Credit Union Members Insurance Society) and IBFI (International Business Forms Industry). Joe was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha, where he served as elder. Joe is survived by his two children, Steven (Dina) Mitchell, Town of Menasha, and Barbara (Marvin) Howard, Minneapolis, MN; a grandson, Hunter, and a granddaughter, Gabrielle, Town of Menasha; brothers, Michael(Janet) Mitchell, Antigo; David (Maria)Mitchell, Robert (Kay) Mitchell, and Randy Mitchell, all of Kaukauna, Daniel (Nancy) Mitchell, Appleton; a sister, Linda (Wayne) Houlberg, Oak Ridge, TN; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John (Kay) Boettcher, and an uncle, Stanley Prue, Denver, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services, with military rites will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 2:30 PM at the Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont. Visitation will be held on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 PM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for Multiple Sclerosis Research.

    Michael "Mike" John Mitchell, of Antigo, died Friday, October 7, 2016 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation. He was 73 years old.
    He was born July 24, 1943 in Appleton, son of the late Leonard and Bethel (Prue) Mitchell. He married Janet Stadler on September 3, 1966 at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute, and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Prior to living in Antigo, they resided in Stevens Point, Portage, and Oshkosh.
    Mike grew up in Kimberly and graduated from Kimberly High School. He earned his B.S. in Soil Sciences from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, and his M.S. in Water Resources from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He was employed as a soil scientist for the US Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service.
    Mike was a member of the Jaycees, Swamp Angels Sportsmen's Club, and he played horseshoes and pool at the Antigo VFW. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and had a great love of gardening.
    Survivors, in addition to his wife Jan Mitchell of Antigo, include 3 daughters, Michele (Jeff) Novak of Knowlton, Tina (Dell) Herbst of Winneconne, and Tara (Jim) Hoffman of White Lake; 4 grandchildren, John and Zachary Malone, and Scott and Abby Craig; 3 step-grandchildren, Phoenix and Santana Herbst, and Bobby Novak; a step-great grandson, Milo Wenzel; a sister, Linda (Wayne) Houlberg of Oak Ridge, TN; 4 brothers, Dave (Maria) Mitchell of Kaukauna, Bob (Kay) Mitchell of Kaukauna, Randy Mitchell (Kay) of Kaukauna, and Dan (Nancy) Mitchell of Appleton; his mother-in-law, Leona Stadler of Combined Locks; 2 sisters-in-law, Carole Metoxen of Little Chute, and Debbie (Tom) Yingling of Appleton; and 2 brothers-in-law, Tom (Lynn) Stadler of Menasha, and Jay (Nancy) Stadler of Sherwood.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe (Judy) Mitchell; his father-in-law, Robert Stadler, and a brother-in-law, Ron Metoxen.
    A memorial mass will take place Wednesday at 12:00 noon at SS. Mary & Hyacinth in Antigo, with Fr. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
    The family extends a special thank you to the staff in the Blue Wing of Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation for their care.

    Mrs. Monica Falk, 59, Port Washington, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, at her home. She was born April 7, 1949, in Appleton, WI daughter of the late Giles and Berenice Mitchell Rettler. On December 27, 1969, she married Thomas J. Falk at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI. Mrs. Falk is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as jogging, camping, hiking, reading, savoring fancy chocolates, and traveling with her family.
    She is survived by her husband Thomas, Port Washington, WI; children Amanda (Christopher) Dombrowicki, Wauwatosa, WI; Michael (Haven) Falk, San Francisco, CA; and siblings Thomas (Chris), Sheboygan, WI; Mary (David) Putzer, Gainesville, GA; Nicholas (Kathy), Appleton, WI; and Cynthia (Thomas) Birk, Maumee, OH. She is further survived by one grandchild Jake, Wauwatosa, WI.
    A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Tom Lijewski on March 12, 2009, at 5 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Port Washington. Committal will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Monica K. Falk Memorial Fund.
