Greene, Allen D. "Big Al"
Allen Greene, 53, Little Chute, died with his family by his side Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. Al was born Sept. 27, 1955, in Baraboo, Wis., son of Allie and Ann (Bellamy) Greene. Allen married Nancy A. Seidl "Bugs" in 1980, in El Paso, Texas. Al was employed by Appleton (formerly Appleton Paper) for many years and was a member of the Valley Vettes. He loved Corvettes, especially his 1980 Corvette "Annie", and enjoyed attending car shows. Al also loved fishing with family and friends and he especially enjoyed fishing with his cousin, Orville Jacobs. He loved taking fishing trips to Canada and playing cards with Ma Seidl. He enjoyed football and camping at his trailer on Pine Lake. Al also loved to cook, his barbeque skills were second to none, and he loved taking "Pa Greene" and "Ma Seidl" out for fish on Friday nights.
Allen is survived by his wife, Nancy, Little Chute; children, Ben, Sam and Amanda, at home; his dad, Allie, Little Chute; dog and family pet, Sophie; brother, Doug (Jodi) Greene; sister, Angie (Eric) Haataja, both of Appleton; mother-in-law, Laona Seidl, Appleton; the rest of the Seidl bunch; special friends and extended family, Steve (Sue) Crober and "the bears", Winchester; Paul (Deb) Jacobs, Menasha; Rick Brunnicinni, Stockbridge; Kelly and Scooter (co-workers).
Allen was preceded in death by his mother; father-in-law, Mike Seidl; stepmother, Nancy Greene; two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Dick Seidl.
Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, until 11 a.m. A private memorial service for family and close friends will follow.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
Special thanks to the staff at Al's workplace (Appleton) and especially Dave and Pam for their compassion and support. Also, thank you to the ThedaCare Hospice nurses, especially Leslie, for their loving care, as well as Trisha Meral (social worker) and the staff at the Martha Siekman Center, especially Drs. Kevin Mortara and John Swanson.
Finally, to my dad: "You were not only my dad, you were my best friend. I love you Allen!"
