    Shirley A. Gassner (nee Derus) age 80 of Kaukauna passed away June 3, 2015 surrounded by family. Shirley was born June 29, 1934, daughter of the late John and Mabel (Phillips) Derus. She married Edward J. Gassner in July of 1952, together they raised five daughters. Shirley devoted her life to raising her children and keeping their household in order while her husband ran many businesses. She enjoyed reading, crafting and spending time with friends and family at their cottage on Kelly Lake. Shirley worked for a short time at Kings Variety in Little Chute and Copps Food Center in Appleton making many friends before retiring.

    She is survived by her daughters: Pam (John) Springer, Sandy (Pat) Romenesko, Lea (Jeff) Majetich, Lyn (fiancé John Adrian) Gassner and Julie (Brian) Ambrosius; grandchildren: George (Janae) and Brian Springer, Keith (Amie) and Cory Romenesko, Andy (Tia), Terri and Chris Bruckner, Jenny Gassner, Duane and Brianna Ambrosius; great-grandchildren: John and Morgan Springer, Maddison and Jack Weber, Damian and Destany Bruckner. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and a brother-in-law: Lorraine Derus and Margaret (John) Leatherbury.
    A memorial service for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2015 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call from 12 Noon until the time of service with inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery immediately following the service. It was Shirley's wish, that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lupus Foundation.

    Shirley's family would like to thank the staff and fellow residents at Matthew's Senior Living, Appleton and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion given to Shirley over the last year.
