Obituary:
Mrs. John Carroll, 77, nee Belle Short, passed away at her home in the town of Rantoul, Calumet County, Saturday. She had been confined to her bed for the past 10 months.
Mrs. Carroll was born in the town of Chilton on January 26, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Short. She was married to John Carroll on October 20, 1896, at St. Augustine church in Chilton. She was a member of the Christian Mothers' society of the parish.
The survivors include her husband and the following children; Mrs. John (Frances) Laughrin, Hilbert; Mrs. Joseph (Bernadette) Vollmer, Hilbert; Mrs. Edwin (Coletta) Meyer, Chilton; Mrs. Dan (Dorothy) Skahen, town of Rantoul; Mrs. Henry (Clara) Mathes, Hilbert; George and John at home and James of Milwaukee. Eighteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother, John of Chilton and two sisters, Miss Anna Short of Manitowoc and Mrs. Mary McGrath of New Richmond also remain. Two sons preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at Pfeffer Funeral Home in Chilton and at St. Augustine church with the Rev. Roland Ahearn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
