    Life Story for Sylvia GilbertsonOur Mother, Sylvia Marie (Olson) Gilbertson, age 90, entered her heavenly home on August 24, 2013. She was a former resident of Chilton, currently a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. She was born on March 21, 1923 and was the second daughter of the late Olaf and Lily (Thone) Olson. Sylvia married Orin Gilbertson on June 28, 1941. They farmed in the Town of Rantoul and raised their family there. She taught Sunday School as a young lady. Sylvia did love to travel, she went to Europe several times, especially Norway to visit with relatives whom she kept in touch through the years. She traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada. Sylvia also liked to write short stories some of which were published. She was especially proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a past quilter in the Ladies Aid and was also an Auxillary member of the American Legion. Her kids were her everything. Sylvia is survived by her children and their spouses: Wayne Gilbertson of Brillion, Germaine Link of Fall River, Donald and Linda Gilbertson of Collins, Kathleen and Gary Grassell of Reedsville, Deanna and Paul Farley of Silver Cliff, Nancy Braun of Manitowoc, Alan Gilbertson of Hilbert, John and Cindy Gilbertson of Appleton, Paul Gilbertson and his special friend Laurie Olm of Chilton; and two daughters-in-law: Debbie Schleis of Brillion and Rachel Gilbertson of Reedsville. She is further survived by her sisters: Beatrice Mancoske of Denmark and Delores Rose of Baraboo, Shirley and LaVerne Steinhorst, Baraboo; sister-in-law: Ethel Gilbertson of Kaukuana; 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her husband Orin on March 18, 1987; her sons Gerald and Carl; daughters: Rita and Mary; sons-in-law: Henry Vanden Zanden and Lloyd Link; a granddaughter: Leanna Vander Zanden; brothers: Leo and his wife Cleo, Floyd, and Gene; a sister Luella and her husband Guilford Gilbertson; brothers-in-law: Gordon (Delores) Gilbertson, Thomas (Margaret) Gilbertson, Elder Gilbertson, John Mancoske and Harold Rose; sisters-in-law: Gladys (Lewis) Dempsey, Myrtle (Leroy) Rohrdanz and Evelyn (George) Snow. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Erica Cunningham with burial to follow at Valders West Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders.     Mary Jean Gilbertson, age 49, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 6, 2004, at her home in Stoughton, WI. She was born in Manitowoc on May 1, 1955, a daughter of Sylvia (Olson) and the late Orin Gilbertson. In her life, Mary faced many struggles in her life and survived them.
    She is survived by her mother, Sylvia Gilbertson of Chilton, WI; her brothers: Wayne of Reedsville; Don (Linda) of Collins; Carl (Rachel) of Reedsville; Alan of Hilbert; John (Cindy) of Appleton; Paul of Chilton; sisters: Germain Link of Fall River; Kathy (Gary) Grassell of Reedsville; Deanna VanderZanden of Seymour; Nancy Braun of Manitowoc; nine nieces, 11 nephews, five grand-nieces, eight grand-nephews; and a special friend, Larry Waelti; and many friends.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Orin; a brother, Jerry; a sister, Rita; two brothers-in-law: Lloyd Link and Henry VanderZanden.
    Private family services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be at West Cemetery in Valders. Friends may greet the family from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home, Stoughton.

    Carl O. Gilbertson, age 56, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 after a courageous two year battle with cancer at his home. He was born on August 15, 1956 in Chilton, son of Sylvia (Olson) Gilbertson and the late Orin Gilbertson. On December 26, 1977 he married Rachel Moede in Valders. Carl worked at Gruett's in Potter for almost 25 years, retiring in 2011 due to his illness. He was a member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville and the Central Wisconsin Antique Tractor Pullers. Survivors include his wife Rachel, his children, Angela (Gregory) Kiley of Reedsville, Timothy (Tanya) Gilbertson of Brillion, Krista (Robert) Krepline of Reedsville, and Alec Gilbertson of Reedsville, foster son Justin (fiance' Kendall) Finlan of Two Rivers, 5 grandchildren Tori, Kendra, Cole, Becky and Bobby, his dog "Buddy", his mother, Sylvia Gilbertson of Manitowoc, sisters and brothers, Germaine Link of Fall River, Wayne Gilbertson of Brillion, Donald (Linda) Gilbertson of Collins, Kathy (Gary) Grassell of Reedsville, Deanna (Paul) Farley of Silver Cliff, Nancy Braun of Manitowoc, John (Cindy) Gilbertson of Appleton, Alan Gilbertson of Brillion, Paul Gilbertson and special friend Laurie of Chilton, his mother-in-law Florence Moede of Reedsville, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Debra Schlies of Brillion, William (Darlene) Moede of Alabama, John Moede and special friend Debra of Reedsville, Dr. A.J.     Vander Zanden, Leanna (Lulu) M.
    Leanna (Lulu) M. Vander Zanden, 33, Seymour, passed away Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2009, at her home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 5, 1976, daughter of Deanna (Gilbertson) Farley and the late Henry Vander Zanden.
    Leanna was a 1994 graduate of Seymour High School. She was employed with Team Industries for several years and JMS Converters until the time of her illness two years ago. She enjoyed NASCAR races and going to the races at Slinger Raceway. She also collected Precious Moments figurines and enjoyed playing darts on several leagues.
    She is survived by her children: Britney, Justin and Jonathon, all at home; her mother, Deanna Farley and step-father Paul Farley, Silver Cliff; brothers: John (special friend Stacy) Vander Zanden; Travis Vander Zanden; Daniel Vander Zanden; Nicholas (Kellie) Vander Zanden, all of Seymour; maternal grandmother Sylvia Gilbertson, Chilton; step-sister, Marie (Jeff) Marsh, Lakewood; step-brother, Abe (Kathy) Farley, Green Bay; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles.
    She was preceded in death by her father Henry, her grandmother Wilhelmina Vande Burgt and her grandfathers, John Vander Zanden and Orin Gilbertson.
    Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, from 4 PM until 8 PM and Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour from 9:30 AM until services at 11 AM with Father Bob Kabat officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
