    Obituary:
Michael R. Diny, 84, De Pere, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and faithful servant of the Lord entered Eternal Life Sunday September 19, 2010. He was born in Greenleaf to the late Frank and Alma (Starr) Diny. Mike graduated from East De Pere High School in 1944 where he starred in varsity football.
Mike served in the U.S. Army with the 594th Artillery Battalion, stationed in Germany. After attending survey school, he computed artillery survey and also performed as a battery clerk, typing and distributing the company orders each day. He received a commendation as Specialist 3rd Class.
He married the former Dolores Geiger at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Brillion on September 14, 1957. Mike and Dolores built their dream home in Hollandtown in 1960 and resided there for 46 years. They were members of St. Francis Parish, where Mike served as an usher and greeter. An active parishioner, Mike built the Altars and many other woodworking projects at the school and church along with the fabrication of the outdoor rosary. He served as a member of the Building and Grounds Committee for 34 years, was a past treasurer, parish council and school board member.
Mike was a homebuilder for nine years and the remainder of his career was spent as foreman with the Boldt Company until retirement in 1988. He was an honorary and charter member of the Boldt Builders Club and a member of the Central States Regional Council of Carpenters Local 955. He was a former Town of Holland zoning administrator and volunteer fireman.
As a young man, he was well known as an outstanding catcher and pitcher in many baseball leagues throughout the area. He had many cherished memories of deer hunting with his Greenleaf friends for over 40 years. Mike enjoyed fishing and designed and built a 17-foot-boat. One of his greatest pleasures was traveling with Dolores in their motorhome, which usually had the boat hitched to it. In Hollandtown, they had a picturesque flower and vegetable garden with the produce shared with many, especially area food pantries.
Mike was an industrious and innovative man with a wealth of knowledge. Among his talents and hobbies were mechanics, reupholstery, tatting, welding, ballroom and polka dancing, card playing and history records.
