    Donald H. Laux, age 84, of Appleton, died on Sunday, January 31, 2016, at his home. Don was born on March 3, 1931, to the late Herbert and Anna (Wollersheim) Laux. He lived in Appleton his whole life. Don attended St. Norbert College, graduating in 1953 with a degree in physics. He served in the U.S. Army (1953 - 1955) at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Don had a successful career at Marathon, American Can, and Domino Amjet working in research and development.
    Don liked to golf and play sheephead. He was involved at St. Bernard Catholic Church as a server, usher, and lector. Most of all, he loved raising his family and leaves them with many memories of road trips, holidays, and laughter.
    Don was blessed with his loving wife of 58 years, Sylvia (Godschalx); four children: Linda (Mark) Slater, Patricia (Doug) Westhoven, Sara (Cal) Akin, and Daniel Laux; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    Don was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Sara Slater, his parents, and brother, Richard Smith.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, February 5, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fox Valley Warming Shelter in Appleton.
