    Biography:
    HERMAN O. E. DIESTLER, postmaster of Hortonville, Wisconsin, for the past six years, senior member of the well known building and contracting firm of The Diestler Company, progressive and enterprising business man and public-spirited citizen, was born September 3, 1861, in Germany, and is a son of Charles J. and Julia (Kluge) Diestler. There are six brothers and two sisters. Mr. Diestler's parents were married in the Fatherland, and came to the United States in 1868, settling in Jackson, Washington county, Wisconsin, where Mr. Diestler was engaged in farming and buying horses for the government. On December 25, 1875, he sold his farm and came to Hortonia township, buying 160 acres, known as the Polar farm, which has been his home to the present time. After completing a preliminary education in the parochial schools of Washington county, H. O. E. Diestler took a business course in Milwaukee, paying his own way from the proceeds of a business deal which he consummated when only seventeen years of age in Clintonville. After completing his schooling, he returned to his home, where he worked for some time as a carpenter foreman on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, and at the age of twenty years was working as a bridge carpenter. On April 20, 1885, he bought a one-half interest in C. A. Nye & Company's mill, and four years later induced to purchase the rest. In 1887 he bought the K. W. Rideout mill, which he still operates, manufacturing lumber, shingles, sash and interior work for churches and other buildings. In 1889 his father bought an interest in the mill. On June 7, 1897, his brother, Robert E., bought his father's interest in the business and the firm style is now The Diestler Company. They are contractors and builders, and deal in coal, wood, building material, paints, oils and glass, and in fact everything except hardware used in the building trade. Mr. Diestler is a Republican in politics and for the past six years has served as postmaster, and was the first republican chairman of supervisors in 1892, before the village was organized. He has always been public-spirited to a high degree, and is known as a man who can be depended upon to give his hearty co-operation and support to any movement which is forwarded to benefit the village or county. His religious connection is with the Lutheran Church of which he has been treasurer and a trustee for sixteen years. On October 13, 1886, Mr. Diestler was married to Miss Elizabeth Foerster, and to this union there have been born seven children: Herman R., Edmond C., Henry A., Herbert, Rudolph, Adolf and Helen.

    Marie M. Krause, age 87, Appleton, went to her eternal life peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Kindred Hearts-Greenville. She was born October 16, 1927 in Appleton, the daughter of Franklin and Lula (Peters) Diestler. Marie married Carlie Krause on August 28, 1948, at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. Marie was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. She was employed by Kimberly Clark and AAL (Thrivent) prior to the birth of her children. Later in life she volunteered for Respite Care VNA and the Ladies Aid at church. Marie was an avid bowler and a less than terrific golfer, but was always ready for a round. She never let her husband forget the hole in one she made. They loved to travel and always had stories of good times on the road and around the world. Friday nights were always reserved for a fish fry with family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie was a loving, kind and thoughtful person and always passed this on to others. She was a joy to be with no matter what was happening in her life. "Mom, you will never be forgotten. Thanks for sharing with us your endless amounts of love."
    Marie is survived by her sons, Dan Krause (Elizabeth Woolf), Appleton and David Krause (Corinne), Hortonville; grandchildren Adam (Ellie Burke), Ryan, Philip, Sarah (Matthew) Kuehmichel, Thomas (Carrie); great grandchildren, Faith, Rebecca, Ethan, Evan and Aydan; brother Franklin (Jo) Diestler; sister Linda Hathaway. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who also loved her.
    Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carlie of 58 years, sister Ramona Moser and loving granddaughter Julia Woehler.
    The funeral service for Marie will be held on January 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue in Appleton. Rev. Kenneth L. Frey will be officiating.     Ramona D. Moser, age 77, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Ramona was born November 19, 1930, in Appleton, the daughter of the late Franklin and Lula (Peters) Diestler Sr. She resided in Appleton all of her life and was employed at Appleton Wire Works for 20 years, retiring in 1985. On August 14, 1965, Ramona was united in marriage to Alfred W. Moser, sharing 15 years together before his death in 1980.
    Survivors include a daughter Kathleen (Raymond) Miller, Hortonville; a grand daughter, Tracy (Richard) Tess, Redlands, CA; two sisters: Marie Krause and Linda Spielmann, both of Appleton; a brother, Franklin (Jo Ann) Diestler Jr., Greenville; other relatives and her beloved cat Sam.
    In addition to her parents and husband, Ramona was preceded in death by an infant brother Chester Diestler.
    Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, August 18th at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Leon Knitt officiating. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 4 p.m. Monday until the time of the service. Ramona will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established.

    Ruth E. Ruppel, age 87, of Appleton, was called peacefully to eternal life and joined her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 31st, 2014, at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family and pastor.
    Ruth was born on the family farm outside of Hortonville on October 8th, 1926, to Leonard and Florence (Abraham) Diestler. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville. Ruth attended school in Hortonville and graduated from Hortonville High School. After graduating Ruth went to work at the then AAL, now Thrivent Financial, from which she retired in January 1986.
    On August 26, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to Milton Ruppel of Dale, spending nearly 64 years together. They made their home in Appleton, where Ruth was a long time member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church.
    Ruth's interests included baking, gardening, sewing, playing cards, camping and traveling. Along with Milt, Ruth traveled to virtually every corner of this country and beyond, including Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Europe. Later in life she enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends at the family home on Wheeler Lake in Lakewood, WI. Ruth also enjoyed Friday night fish fries and a good happy hour but her greatest joy and happiness was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    Ruth is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Milton; her children, Tom, Key West, FL and Appleton; Nancy (Robert) Korth, Appleton; grandchildren, Robert (Nicole) Korth, Depere; Michelle (Nate) Klapoetke, Wild Rose; Timothy (Brittany) Korth, Kaukauna; six great grandchildren, Landen, Easton, Brayden, Beau, Madelyn and Hailey. Ruth is also survived by her brothers: Francis Diestler, Napa, CA; Donald (Carol) Diestler, Hortonville; Wayne (Marilyn) Diestler, Dayton, NV. Further suviors include sister-in-laws: Carol Grossman, Appleton; Evelyn (Vernon) Rieckman, Neenah; Karen (Eugene) Fisher, Marion; Irene Ruppel, Dale; brother-in-law: Donald Ruppel, Clintonville.     Michele M. "Mickey" Stamm, age 51, Larsen, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Theda Clark Medical Center with her family by her side. Mickey was born on December 18, 1957, to Gerald and Alice (Carnot) Diestler of Hortonville. On September 30, 1988, Bruce Stamm married the love of his life, Mickey. She enjoyed time spent with Bruce on their yearly hunting trip out west. Mickey also valued time spent with family, especially vacations in Minocqua. At home, Mickey enjoyed reading, cooking for the family, antiques, walking and riding her bike and most importantly her five grandchildren. She was currently employed at Fox Valley Steel and Wire for the past eleven years.
    Michele was a member of the Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, Hortonville.
    Mickey is survived by her husband, Bruce; mother, Alice; sons: Ben (Robyn) Dorn, Tyler Dorn, Carl (Jodi) Stamm; daughter, Megan (David) Reetz; a brother, Kurt (Darla) Diestler, She is further survived by grandchildren: Sabrina Wilde and Abbi Dorn, Carly and Kacie Stamm, and Cohen Reetz; and many other beloved family and friends.
    Mickey is preceded in death by her father, Gerald.
    Funeral services for Mickey will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 12 noon at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, Hortonville with Rev. Ralph Rosenberg officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Hortonville Union Cemetery.

    Obituary:
    Thomas M. Ruppel, of Appleton, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the age of 59, after a 2 year courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born on October 24, 1956 son of Milton and the late Ruth (Diestler) Ruppel. Tom graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1975. He worked for Outagamie County as a Computer Programmer for 16 years before he moved to Key West Florida where he was employed by the Westin Key West Resort and Marina as a Cruise Ship Pier Security Officer. After being diagnosed of his illness, he returned to Wisconsin in 2014 to be near his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time on his boat at the marina, volunteering at the Red Cross, and helping out with the Junior Achievement Program.
    He is survived by his father Milton Ruppel, sister Nancy (Bob) Korth, Nephew Rob (Nichole) Korth, Niece Michelle (Nate) Klapoetke, Nephew Tim (Brittany) Korth, great nephews and nieces Haley McPeak, Landen and Easton Korth, Brayden and Beau Klapoetke, and Madelyn Korth.
    He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth E Ruppel.
    A Celebration of Tom's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016, at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 530 W Parkway Blvd., Appleton, WI 54911, with Pastor Mark Henke officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
    Tom's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Phillips and his staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, ThedaCare Hospice, and the staff at the Bridges Health Care Center.
    Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

Julia married Lee Woehler on October 29, 2005, in Readfield. Julia is survived by her husband Lee; parents David and Corinne Krause, Hortonville; father and mother-in-law Ron (Terry) Woehler, Appleton; paternal grandmother Marie Krause, Appleton; maternal grandparents Eugene and Laverne Niemuth, New London.
