    Obituary:
    Sister Mary John Wood, 82, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Holy Family Convent.
    She was born Rita Wood on March 5, 1924, in Appleton, Wis., daughter of the late John and Mary (Manning) Wood. Sister Mary John earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, and a Master of Science in Library Science from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. She entered the convent in 1942 and professed her vows in 1945.
    She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Sister Mary John served as a teacher at St. Andrew, Potosi, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St. Mary, Algoma, St. Mary, Hilbert, St. Mary, Waukesha and as a librarian at Appleton Xavier High School and Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. She also served as a homemaker at Cathedral, Honolulu, Hawaii; secretarial assistant at St. Paul Manor, Kaukauna; and performed various tasks at San Damiano Convent, Slinger and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. Since November 1997 Sister Mary John had been residing in the St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse.
    Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, where prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., in the Holy Family Convent Chapel.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem. Burial will be in the Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
    The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting with funeral arrangements
