    The real issue I came across (other than there being 2 Mary Summers) is an 1880 census for Maurice and Susan Summer... this census lists Michael Kennedy (born in Ireland) living with them and is listed as a "nephew." I know all of these individuals are interrelated in some way, I just haven't found all of the puzzle pieces yet.
    Thomas Kennedy was my wife's great grandfather and he lived in Racine, Wisconsin. I located the same census you mentioned where his mother, Mary, was listed as living with him. I assume Mary also died in Racine and I have not yet had a chance to research records there. I am just getting started in the research for my wife's family. At some point, I would like to try to locate Mary's death record to see who is listed for parents... that would clear up a lot of confusion for the 2 Mary Summers who were cousins.
    Where are you from? I don't have access to records in Brown County without physically going there, but I'm wondering if Michael Kennedy died there. Mary would then have moved in with her son, Thomas, after the death of her husband (between 1910 and 1920).
