Obituary:
Ralph E. Hacker, 85 years, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010. He was born June 25, 1925 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Emerson and Cora (Anderson) Hacker. Cora passed away shortly after his birth and Ralph was raised by his very special aunt Emma Anderson. He attended Sturgeon Bay High School. Ralph enlisted and served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1943 until he was honorably discharges on May 19, 1946. He worked for Standard Oil Company in Sturgeon Bay. Ralph owned and operated the Citgo Gas Station in Sturgeon Bay (where Bay Lake Bank now stands). He was more recently employed with the city of Sturgeon Bay for over 13 years in traffic and parking enforcement until his retirement in 1989. On March 2, 1947 he married the love of his life Jane Marie Onkels at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church. Following his retirement he loved traveling with his wife Jane, playing cards, radio bingo, visiting family and friends. He was a member of the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church, the Am Vets, and enjoyed playing cards, and radio bingo. Survivors include his dear wife, Jane of 63 years; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Onkels, Bob (Jan) Onkels both of Kaukauna; sister-in-law, Geraldine Gerry Onkels of Appleton; many nieces and nephews; and his godson, Andrew Crawford. Preceding him in death were his parents; mother and father in-law; beloved son, Robert; a special aunt, Emma; brothers-in-law, Melvin Onkels, sister-in-law, Eunice Onkels, nephew, Donny. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday (October 21, 2010) at Huehns Funeral Home with Rev. Reeder Herrick officiating. Burial with military honors will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Kaukauna. Friends may call on Thursday at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m. He will be missed by all who knew him.
