    James L. Gitter, age 80, of Hortonville, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. James was born on September 19, 1927, in Hortonville, son of the late Edwin and Bernadette (Rusch) Gitter. As a butcher, James formerly owned and operated Gitter's Custom Meat Processing in Pine River, Wisconsin. After selling his meat business, he moved to Murray, Idaho, where he lived for 23 years. James moved back to the Hortonville area in 2004. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. James enjoyed fishing and hunting.
    He is survived by a daughter, Mary (Ken) Teske, Cape Coral, Florida; two sons: Tim (Kelly) Gitter, Green Bay; Robert Gitter, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; five brothers: Tom (Louise) Gitter, Madison; Richard (Beth) Gitter, Michigan; Frances Gitter, Arizona; Peter Gitter, Hortonville; Larry (Joan) Gitter, Wisconsin Rapids; a sister Rita Guzzetta, New Port Richey, Florida. James is further survived by two grandchildren: Hannah and Jenna Gitter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Phil and David.
    Funeral Mass for James will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. James Feely officiating. Burial will be in the Murray Cemetery in Murray, Idaho. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
