    Biography:
    HENRY C. LILLGE, who is operating the old home farm in Center township, is one of the progressive and enterprising young agriculturists of this section, and is a member of one of the oldest families in Outagamie county, where his grandfather, Charl Lillge, was a pioneer settler. Charl Lillge came to this country soon after his marriage in Germany, and settled in Center township, where he started in a humble way and at the time of his death was a prosperous and well-known farmer. His son, Otto, born in Center township, followed in his father's footsteps, and had become prosperous and influential, when he met an accidental death, November 26, 1895, by the bursting of a large grindstone. Otto Lillge married Freda Berg, and they had a family of five children, among whom was Henry C., born March 24, 1884, on the farm which he is now cultivating. He secured his education in the neighborhood schools, after leaving which he learned the carpenter trade and followed that occupation for five years, two years of which he was working for himself. In 1910 he took charge of the home farm, which is one of the best places of the neighborhood, being highly cultivated, and well improved with all the buildings and accessories which go to make up a model farm of the twentieth century.
    In January, 1907, Mr. Lillge was united in marriage with Gusta Schubert, who was born August 3, 1883, in Black Creek township, Outagamie county, daughter of Charl and Gusta Schubert, prominent farming people of Black Creek township and natives of the Fatherland. Mr. and Mrs. Lillge have been the parents of three children, namely: Norman, who was born in November, 1907, and died at the age of nine months; Marvin, who was born in December, 1908 and died when thirteen months of age; and Wilbert, who was born June 30, 1910. Mr. and Mrs. Lillge are consistent attendants of St. Peter's German Lutheran Church. He is a Republican in politics, but has not cared for public preferment, although he takes a keen interest in matters pertaining to the welfare of the community and may be counted on to give his ready and willing support to every enterprise of benefit to his township.

    Werner, Lavida C. (Lillge), 98, Appleton, Wis., was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday morning, Sept. 22, 2013.
    Lavida was born July 31, 1915, in the town of Center, Wisconsin, and was the daughter of the late Louis and Wella (Griese) Lillge. She attended St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Grade School and then the Vocational School in Appleton.
    Lavida married Grover A. Werner on April 17, 1939, (Easter Sunday) at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Appleton. Grover preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1973. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Forestville, Wis., where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and in the church choir. Lavida was also a member of the Ladies Aid at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
    Lavida and Grover spent many years in the restaurant business. They started with a Drive-in in Forestville in the 1960s, which naturally included car hops. The family moved to Algoma, where they operated "Grover's" soda shop. Lavida was known as "Ma" Werner to all the teenagers in town while serving hamburgers, French fries, home-made ice cream and their famous cherry cokes. She also enjoyed singing with the Algoma's Sweet Adelines. Lavida's hobbies included embroidery, dart ball, bowling and crosswords puzzles.
    Lavida is survived by her children and their spouses, Marlin and Eleanor Werner, Rhinelander; Carol and Karl Hoppe, Menasha; Tom and Renee Werner, Luxemburg; and Dan and Sue Werner, Green Bay; her grandchildren, Dan Lynn (Bobbie Jo) Werner, Dr. Mike (Michelle) Werner, John (Lori) Werner, Zak (Amy) Werner, Alisha Werner, Andrew Werner and Austin Werner; her great-grandchildren, Cody, Elizabeth, Olivia, Blake, Madison, Lilian, Ethan, Grace and Autumn. Lavida is also survived by nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover; her parents; brother, Gerald Lillge; sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Gerald Krueger; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Harvey Hart.
    Lavida had spent a lifetime caring for others including her husband, mother, and brother. For such a small lady she sure had a big heart.

    Jerry Lillge, age 93 of Appleton, went quietly into the welcoming arms of our Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Jerry was born in Appleton on March 26, 1919, son of the late Louis and Wella (Griese) Lillge. He attended St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Appleton High School. Jerry served his country as a medic in the Army Air Force from 1942 until 1945. While in the Army Medical Corps, he handled medical supplies and received wounded soldiers at the airport at Casablanca, the site of a historic meeting between President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in January of 1943. The two leaders met there to decide the course of World War II. Whenever Jerry was asked how long he was in the service, he would say, "Three years, eight months, and twenty-three days!" Jerry was most grateful and proud for the opportunity to be on the July 2012 Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. These veterans toured the nation's capitol and saw the memorial dedicated to the men who fought in World War II. He took great pride in being escorted on this trip by his great-nephew, Dr. Mike Werner, an Iraq war veteran himself.
    Jerry worked at Kimberly - Clark until his retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and accomplished carpenter. His hobbies included snowmobiling, crossword puzzles, the Hodag Country Music Festival in Rhinelander, the EAA, and feeding the birds.
    Jerry is survived by his sister: Lavida C. Werner of Appleton; nieces and nephews: Marlin (Eleanor) Werner, Carol (Karl) Hoppe, Tom (Renee) Werner, Dan (Sue) Werner, Maynard (Pauline) Krueger, Karen (Don) Cook, Diane Krueger, and Sherry Guionnaud. There are also many great-nieces and nephews, a special friend Clyde (Bev) Park, as well as other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Mae (Gerald) Krueger, and a brother-in-law: Grover Werner.
    The Christian Funeral for Jerry will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton, with Rev. Donald Ninmer officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.     The family would like to thank the staff at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center and Jerry's niece, Carol Hoppe, for all of the love and care shown to Jerry. We will never forget your kindness.

    Joyce V. Colden, age 89, New London, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Bethany Home, Waupaca. Joyce was born on January 4, 1921, in Black Creek, daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (Lillge) Burmeister. She was united in marriage on December 17, 1939, to Oakley Colden. He preceded her in death in 2000. Joyce formerly worked for Montgomery Wards, Max Bassewitz, Culligan, Fay R. Smith and Markmans Department Store. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and was an avid Packer fan.
    Joyce is survived by daughters, Betty (Mike) Ferris, Scio, Oregon; Salle Rystrom, Bogalusa, Louisiana; Peggy (Jim) Nichols, New London; Jacqueline (Bill) Snearly, Wild Rose; a son, Michael (Carmen) Colden, Fremont. Ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a special friend, Marlene.
    Besides her parents and husband Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Glenn, two sisters, Regina Kalwitz and Ruth Drews, two brothers, Edward Hoerning and Gordon Burmeister and a grandson, Michael Colden.
    Funeral services for Joyce will be held Monday, October 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London, with Rev. Brian Hennig officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

    Dale M. Lillge, 63 of Appleton, was called suddenly to his eternal home on March 14, 2017.
    Dale was born on May 27, 1953 in Appleton to the late Elvy and MaeBelle (Plamann) Lillge.
    Dale served in the United States Air Force from November 2, 1971 until the time of his honorable discharge in October of 1975. He had a love and passion for his many feline friends over the years. Being mechanically inclined and an automobile enthusiast, you would often find Dale tinkering around in the garage.
    Dale is survived by his siblings and their spouses: Bruce and Nancy Lillge, Larry Lillge and (fiancée Jane Kaufman), Bruce and Faye Thede, and Gary and Annette Gauerke; sister-in-law Carol Lillge; his nieces and nephews: Michele, Mike, Mark, Melissa, Amy, Ben, Henry, Bradley, Stacie, Sara, Sandy, Jennifer, Jason, Robin, and many beloved family members. He is further survived by friends who were a special part of Dale's life: Bob, Paul, and Tom.
    Dale was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, Dennis, and Brian; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lillge.
    A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, N7240 French Rd. Appleton, the Rev. Ronald Ash officiating. Inurnment to follow at Community Lutheran Cemetery.
