    Woman, 91, Honored Sunday, Kaukauna -- Mrs. Elvira Johann, 91, celebrated her birthday Sunday with a family gathering at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dietzen, 704 W. Eighth street, Kaukauna.
    Born June 5, 1869, in the town of Harrison, Mrs. Johann now makes her home with another daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Vander Velden, Sherwood. Formerly the nonagenarian enjoyed playing cards but in recent years her main hobby is knitting.
    Other of her children at the gathering were John Johann, Mrs. Elizabeth Haase, Mrs. William Engel and Mrs. Leo J. Murhpy, all of Appleton; Mrs. James Brown, Marinette, and Mrs. Vander Velden and Mrs. Dietzen.
    Also present were 31 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rose Bodway, route 1, Menasha, an octegenarian sister-in-law, also attended. Mrs. Johann is the lone survivor of 14 children.

    Mrs. Elvira Johann, Sherwood, Wis.
    Age 91, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Thursday after a short illness. She was born June 5, 1870 in the town of Harrison and was a resident of that vicinity most of her life. Mrs. Johann was a member of the St. Anne's Society and the Third Order of St. Francis of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Menasha. Survivors are seven daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Haase and Mrs. Leo Murphy, both of Appleton; Mrs. Peter Dietzen, Kaukauna, Mrs. Anna Barker, Rt. 4, Appleton, Mrs. James Brown, Marinette, Mrs. Martin Vander Velden, Sherwood and Mrs. William Engel, Rt. 2, Menasha; one son, John, R. 4, Appleton; 80 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Menasha with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Laemmrich Funeral Home, Menasha, after 3 p.m. Friday with rosary at 8 p.m.

    Obituary:
    Greenville - Alden "Al" Johann, age 76, went into his heavenly father's arms on July 1, 2018, after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Greenville, Wisconsin.
    Alden was born in Appleton on May 9, 1942, to John and Gretchen (Merget) Johann. He married the love of his life, Carol Vosters, on June 23, 1961, with whom he celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with three daughters.
    He worked for Menasha Mill Supply until 1984. He was then employed by Warehouse Specialists as the Buildings and Grounds Manager until his retirement in 2004. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, camping, playing cards, and traveling. Arizona became a favorite destination, especially after taking a helicopter ride over Sedona.
    He will be remembered for his sense of humor and dedication to his family. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always remember him with candy hidden in his pockets. It was very important that family was together for every holiday and event, which always included delicious food. Everyone equally looked forward to Father's Day, as his steaks quickly became a well-known specialty. When camping, he mastered bacon and eggs over a campfire but he did enjoy telling the grandchildren that they were getting pickles and coffee instead. He was also a man of many trades; if you needed help with electrical, plumbing, or construction work he was there to help. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix.
    He will be sadly missed by his wife, Carol; three daughters: Linda (James) Dreier, Karen (Michael) Schomisch, Lisa (Jeffrey) Stillman; seven grandchildren: Lori (Matthew) Seubert, Nicole (Derek) Hendrikse, Michelle Dreier, Amber (Zachary) Krueger, Eric Schomisch, and Ashley and Alyssa Stillman; and his great-grandchildren: Liam and Isla Seubert, Olivia and Wesley Hendrikse, and Ava and Maya Krueger. He is also survived by brothers Orville Johann and Vernon (Marlene) Johann.
    Alden is welcomed into heaven by an infant son Kevin; his parents; his in-laws Richard and Ruth Vosters; a sister, Jeanette Kurtyka; sisters-in-law Lucile Johann and Linda Vosters; and brothers-in-law John Kurtyka and Robert Vosters.
    The funeral liturgy for Alden will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 5:00 PM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 2nd Street in Menasha, with Fr. Michael Warden officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Monday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the hour of the mass.     Obituary:
    Charles Dietzen of Appleton, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Appleton Retirement Center on Monday, May 14, 2012. He was born in Darboy on July 7, 1919 to the late Peter and Mary (Johann) Dietzen. Charles married Gladys Lopas on October 9, 1936 and she preceded him in death. He was employed as a truck driver for CW Transport. He later became an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College in their truck driving program and trained truck drivers for U.S. Oil. Charles helped organize the Inland Lakes Rehabilitation District in Townsend, WI. He was a member of Chapter 73 of the CCC. He enjoyed working in his garage building bird houses and anything else made of wood. Fishing and hunting at their cottage in Townsend occupied most of his "retired" spare time.
    He is survived by his sons: Ronald (Becky), Robert (Mary) and Ted (Norma); 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth and a brother, Eugene.
    Charles was preceded in death by his wife; sons: Kenneth and James; sisters: Rosella (Earl) Pogrant and Mary Ann (Richard) Endter.
    Funeral services for Charles will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 18, 2012 at the funeral home with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
    Charles's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Appleton Retirement Community and especially Community Care for their compassionate care and concern.

    Theodore "Ted" Dietzen 68, of Black Creek, died Sunday August 5, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Appleton, July 31, 1944, son of the late Charles and Gladys (Lopes) Dietzen. Ted married Norma (Koentopp) on September 16, 1999.
    Ted owned and operated Ted's Auto Repair and Salvage for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, playing darts, pool, and attending area car races. His biggest enjoyment came with spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
    Ted is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Norma; daughter, Kelly Dietzen, Appleton; three sons, Ricky Dietzen , Black Creek, Randy (Deb) Dietzen, Neenah, and Rodney (Christine) Dietzen, Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Walker, Lucas, Amanda Cibak, and Jordan Cibak; great granddaughter, Gracie Lee; two brothers, Ronald (Becky) Dietzen, Townsend, and Bob (Mary Ellen) Dietzen, Seymour; sister-in-law, Mary Dietzen, Neenah; and many other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim.
    Funeral service will be 4:00PM on Thursday August 9, 2012 at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (N3505 Hwy 47, Appleton) with Rev. Jeffrey Suhr officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 2:00PM until the time of service.
    Ted's family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially his nurse Jon, and Dr. Karl Baum for their care and compassion.

He was preceded in death by a brother- in-law, James Weyenberg; godchil d, Suzan Coenen; and a niece, Jennifer Pogrant. Funeral services will be h eld at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic C hurch with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogan officiating. Interment wi ll be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church f rom 4 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the mass.     Obituary:
    Manitowoc - Michael J. Pogrant, age 48, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, June 14, 2018 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center with his loving family at his side.

    Michael was born in Kaukauna on April 24, 1970, son of Eileen (Coenen) Pogrant and the late William Pogrant. He was a 1989 graduate of Little Chute High School. Michael served in the United States Marine Corps from 1989 until 1993. He worked for Eggers Manufacturing in Neenah retiring in 2007 due to disability.

    Survivors include his mother: Eileen Pogrant, Ruskin, FL; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Jeff Pogrant, Kaukauna; Don (Chris) Pogrant, Kaukauna; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Karen Williams, Rothschild; Robin (Dan) Gavigan, Franksville, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and one sister-in-law: Kathy Pogrant.

    A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Connection Church, 1455 North Rapids Road, Manitowoc. Pastor Chris Gilbert will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded at the church following the service. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to his special friends: Don Kerscher and Jenny Kass, the doctors, nurses and staff of the Veterans Clinic of Cleveland, Veterans Clinic of Green Bay, the Veterans Hospital of Milwaukee, Holy Family Hospital and Hospice and the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center for all the compassionate care given to Michael.
