Obituary:
Esther L. Boyer, age 108, of the Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville, formerly of N. Clinton Avenue in Clintonville, passed away Monday morning, June 18, 2007, at Greentree. Esther was born on March 10, 1899, in the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, WI. She was the daughter of the late Julius and Wilhelmina (Opperman) Krueger. Esther grew up on her family's farm in the Town of Matteson. She was later united in marriage to Lothar Boyer on June 1, 1921, at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville, where they were both lifelong members. Esther was also involved at St. Martin as a member of the Women's Missionary League and also the Sewing Circle. Esther and Lothar farmed in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, WI, for many years retiring in 1958. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Clintonville. Lothar preceded his wife in death on May 2, 1960. Esther worked at Rest Haven Home in Clintonville taking care of the elderly for many years. Obviously not too many people live to be 108 years old, but according to Esther the key to living so long was, "Faith, family, friends, and hard work."
Survivors are two daughters: Jeanice Hartfiel, Fremont; Dorathea (George) Blazek, Appleton; a son, Kenneth (Irene) Boyer, Clintonville; 11 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and their families. 13 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lothar, a daughter Laverne (Harold) Gauerke, a son Llewellyn (Gertrude) Boyer, a son-in-law Harvey Hartfiel; three sisters: Dena Klemp, Ella Ferg, and Matilda Reetz, and three brothers: Henry, Alvin, and Edwin Krueger.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, 2007, at 11 a.m., at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville ,with the Rev. Christian Burg officiating, and interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery also in Clintonville. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, Clintonville, and after 10 A.M. Thursday at the church until the time of the service. For more information visit
