    See Image Pauline B.Weyenberg, "Polly", 5800 Pennsylvania Av. Appleton, former ly of Freedom, died on Christmas day 2000 at the age of 89. Polly was bo rn in Iowa on March 15, 1911, daughter of the late Arnold and Maria Klappe rich Stephani. On November 15, 1934, she married Eugene Weyenberg in Bla ck Creek, he survives. The couple operated a dairy farm in Freedom for ma ny years, and Polly will be remembered by many for always planting a lar ge garden and her love for dancing. She was a member of St.Nicholas Cathol ic Church in Freedom for over 60 years, and was a member of its Christi an Mothers Society.Polly is survived by a daughters, Shirley (Joe) Geurts, Freedom, two son s, Bob (Florus) Weyenberg, Freedom, and Gene (Donna) Weyenberg Jr., Mo shawquit Lake, twelve grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, four sister s, Isabel Fries, Dorothy (Bill) Martzahl, Marcella Rettler, Caroline (Mil o) Rettler, Helen Murphy. Polly is further survived by Eugene's brothers a nd sister, Orville (Marge) Weyenberg, Clyde (Ardene) Weyenberg, Irene Step hanie, by Eugene's brother in-law, Leon Spletter. She was preceded in dea th by her parents, brothers Leo Stephani, and Ray Stephani, brothers in-l aw Cyril Fries, Jerome Rettler, and John Murphy, sisters in-law Etherl Ste phani, Vi Stephani and Mary Stephani, bu Eugene's brothers and sisters, R ay (Ev) Weyenberg, Mervin (Myrtle) Weyenberg, Martha (Ted) Van Dyke, and D orothy Spletter, by Eugene's broter in-law Al Stephani, and by Eugene 's parents, John and Jane (Hooyman) Weyenberg.The funeral liturgy for Polly will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Decemb er 28, 2000, at St.Nicholas Catholic Church, N4088 Cty Rd E in Freedo m, with Fr.Dennis M.Ryan officiating. Interment will take place in the spr ing in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the chur ch on Thursday from 10 AM until the hour of service. A memorial fund has b een established in Polly's name in order to benefit the Future Renovati on of the Church Sanctuary. The family would like to extend their grati tude to the staff at Alterra Wynwood of Appleton for the care and conce rn shown to Polly and her family. We will always remember your kindness.

    Caroline M. Rettler, 85, Black Creek, passed away Nov. 25, 2007, in Appleton. She was born on June 8, 1922, to the late Arnold and Mary (Klapperick) Stephani. On June 6, 1942, Caroline was united in marriage to the late Milo Rettler. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2003. Together they farmed for 17 years in the Town of Black Creek. She left the farm in 1960 and entered private business with her husband running R & R Lanes in Black Creek for 25 years, retiring in 1984. Milo preceded her in death on May 10, 2003. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Black Creek and the Christian Mothers. Caroline cared for the prayer garden at the church for many years. Caroline enjoyed walking, especially with her favorite dog, Mickee. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Her true love was her family and she will be missed by many.
    She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry (Sandy) Rettler, Black Creek; Sam (Mary) Rettler, Kaukauna; Bill (Maryann) Rettler, Black Creek; nine grandchildren, Paul, Todd, Melissa, Jaime, Brad, Tracy, Chad, Robby and C.J. She is further survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Ray Stephani; and five sisters, Pauline Weyenberg, Isabelle Fries, Marcella Rettler, Dorothy Martzahl, and Helen Murphy.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at 4 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek with Fr. Theodore Hendricks officiating. Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.

    Age 86, of Bear Creek, went into the arms of his Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. He was born in Black Creek, son of the late Jacob and Lorinda (Beyer) Stephani. On April 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lavina Surman at St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour. Ervin enjoyed farming for many years in Seymour. He also worked for Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. Ervin also enjoyed Carpentry. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa.
    He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lavina; five sons and one daughter: Edward (Jane), New Holstein; Gary (Dianne), Waukesha; Dan and his fiance Margo, Randolph; Michael (Mary Jo), Green Bay; Ken (Sue) Fond du Lac; Linda (Kurt) Jenschke, Menasha; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers: Eugene, Lawrence (Delores); Jerome (Marcy); sisters: Florence (Ed) McCarthy, Roselyn Mauthe, Dolores (Arnie) Strauch, Lavern (Ron) Cropsey, Kathy (Jim) Fischer, Joyce (Vern) Manthe.     Jerome "Romy" A. Stephani, age 77, of Black Creek, lost a long battle with COPD on Sunday evening, October 12, 2014 and returned home to the glorious gates of Heaven where he was reunited with Jeff, the son he missed so much. He was born January 20, 1937, son of the late Jacob and Lorinda (Beyer) Stephani.
    On October 30, 1982 he was united in marriage to Marcella Becher.
    Romy drove concrete truck for MCC for 37 years and was very proud of every load that he delivered. He also farmed for several years in the town of Black Creek.
    Romy enjoyed a good fish fry with his family on Friday nights and listening to his polka music. He dearly loved his grandchildren and watching them play.

    Black Creek - Roselyn "Rosie" Mauthe, 79, passed away at Good Shepherd Home in Seymour on Saturday, February 24, 2018. She was born November 7, 1938, daughter of the late Jacob and Lorinda (Beyer) Stephani.
    She graduated from Seymour High School and began working at Kimberly-Clark. Rosie was united in marriage to Dr. Donald Mauthe and together they raised five children; he preceded her in death.
    During her life Rosie was able to travel the globe. While living in Japan she was very active in the Japanese/American community. In 1985 she moved back home to Wisconsin.

    Bernard A. Stephani, 71, Seymour, passed away at home on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007. He was born Aug. 24, 1936, to the late Isadore and Hazel (Hanson) Stephani. He graduated from Shiocton High School in 1954 and married Eva Samson on June 7, 1958, in Seymour. Bernie worked for Kuehne's for many years prior to employment with AI Breeding. Bernie and Eva later operated the Countryside Cafe in Black Creek for 13 years until he began working with Huettl Transport. He later retired as a manager from Madison Freight in 2004.
    Bernie farmed all his life and was active with the FFA and also served as President of 4-H for Outagamie County. In addition to farming and horses, he enjoyed spending time as "Dr. Pa" with is grandchildren. Bernie was fond of traveling, had a passion for baking and loved to tell jokes and old stories. He was also known to always be helping others in various ways.
    In addition to his wife, Eva, he is survived by two children, Jerry (Janet) Stephani, Appleton, and JoAnn (Dan) Green, Seymour; his grandchildren, Amber and Vicki Stephani and Steve and Mike Green. He is also survived by a brother, Tom (Louise) Stephani, New London; and a sister, Doris (Fred) Stoeger, Medina.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Friends may call to the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with Fr. Robert Kabat officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

    Eugene Weyenberg, 79, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his winter home in Florida with his family by his side. He was born to Eugene N. and Pauline (Stephani) Weyenberg on April 4, 1937 and raised in Freedom, WI, where he lived all his life until retirement.
    Gene will be lovingly remembered by Donna (Gloede), his wife of 57 years; his children, Kristi (Jim) Kirk, Cheryl Van Grinsven, and Glen (Beth) Weyenberg; 10 grandchildren, Mike, Luke, Lyndsey (Keaton), Amber, Matt, Geoff, Mark, Troy, Hailey, and Lexi; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter and Ava; brother Bob Weyenberg and sister Shirley (Joe) Geurts; brothers-in-law, Don (Nancy) Gloede, Denis (Sheri) Gloede, and Dixon (Carlene) Gloede; and many other family and friends.
    Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene N. and Pauline Weyenberg; father and mother-in-law, Marshall and Marjorie (Dixon) Gloede; son-in-law Bruce Van Grinsven; and sisters-in-law Florus Weyenberg and Dorothy Young.
    Gene was a 40 year employee of Miller Electric/ITW, retiring at the age of 57. He was a friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Gene and Donna enjoyed many happy times together at their home on Moshawquit Lake, where they welcomed family and friends and created many joyful memories. Gene was grateful for more than 20 fun retirement years filled with traveling with Donna, family, and numerous friends. He also enjoyed fishing, watching & feeding the eagles, pontoon boat rides, playing cards, golf, and softball.
    Visitation will be at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom on Saturday, December 10 from 10:00 a.m. until noon. A memorial mass at noon will be officiated by Father Walter Stumpf and Father Luke Strand. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Gene's name.

    Michael James (Mike) Stephani, age 69, of De Pere, WI died unexpectedly Saturday October 19, 2013. He was born in Freedom, WI to the late Ray and Mary (Hooyman) Stephani on June 22, 1944. Mike graduated from Abbot Pennings High School and St. Norbert College. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice (Weyers), and last month they celebrated fifty years of marriage. Mike was Treasurer of Gold Bond Ice Cream and most recently an organic farmer and owner of a small trucking company.
    Mike was an avid Packer fan, farmer, sheepshead player, and Corvette lover. Most important to him was his family and the good help he had in the farming and trucking business. He loved spending time relaxing at their place in Lakewood.
    Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife, Janice; his son Patrick (Sandra) and their children Matthew and Andrew; his daughter Kristine Hansen. He is further survived by his brother Frank (Sally), his sisters Mary Ellen Hofacker, Rosanne Hofacker, Cathy (Richard) Green and Ann (Rick) Weyenberg. He is also survived by his wife's siblings Vernon (Maureen) Weyers, Bill (Eileen) Weyers, Jeanne (Gary) Allgeyer, Betty (Curt) Konkle and Carol (Lee) Kortz. Mike is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    Rosanne (Stephani) Hofacker, age 66, of Appleton, WI died unexpectedly Wednesday February 3, 2016. She was born in Green Bay, WI to the late Raymond and Mary (Hooyman) Stephani on May 5, 1949. Rosanne graduated from Freedom High School in 1967. She married Anthony Hofacker.
    Rosanne's greatest joy was taking care of her family and her grandchildren. She loved cooking and paid great attention to detail, especially when talking about her grandchildren. She was employed by Cleanpower for 15 years and babysat her grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Mike and Jim.
    Rosanne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her daughter Jodie (Mike) Schmitt and their children Sydney, Sadie, and Sophia; her son Jason (Cindy) Hofacker and their daughter Nicole; and her sons Jeremy Hofacker, Chad Hofacker, and Anthony Hofacker II.
    She is further survived by her sister Mary Ellen Hofacker and family, her brother Frank (Sally) Stephani and family, her sisters Cathy (Rich) Green and family, Ann (Rick) Weyenberg and family, her sister-in-law Janice (Weyers) Stephani and family, and the family of Jim Stephani.

    James N. Rettler, 62, Black Creek, passed away Friday morning July 29, 2005 at Weyauwega Health Center. He was born August 5, 1942 son of Marcella (Stephani) Rettler and the late Jerome Rettler. On December 16, 1972, he was united in marriage to Catherine Schroeder.
    Jim was a proud member of the Operating Engineers local 139 since 1964. He was a long time member of the Black Creek Fire Department. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. He was an Army Reserve veteran and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek.
    A loving son, husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife, Cathy, his children: Nicholas (Allison), Kaukauna; Jesse, Black Creek; and Jodi Marie Rettler, Black Creek. Three grandchildren: Alex, Darian, and Nichole and one soon to be granddaughter. Also surviving is his mother Marcella, Black Creek; sisters: Dorothy (Bill) Paltzer and Gloria Krueger of Black Creek; brothers: Dan (Sheri), Duane (Joyce), Steve (Nancy), all of Black Creek; and Dave (special friend Kris) Seymour; and Dick (JoAnn), Menasha; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Shirley Siewert, Donna Shepard, Fred (Kathy) Schroeder, Larry (Margaret) Schroeder, Joann (Roland) Gasser, Bill (Cindy) Schroeder, Dennis (Pat) Schroeder, Pat (Lyle) Shepard, Diane (David) Bunnell and Rick (Carol) Schroeder. A sister-in-law, Carol, Black Creek. Numerous nieces and nephews and God Children.
    James was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph and a nephew, Scott, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Marie Schroeder and three brothers-in-law: John VanDenBogart, Merton Shepard and William Siewart.
    Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek on Monday from 3 p.m. until funeral services at 7 p.m. with Fr. Theodore Hendericks officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home Seymour is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established.

    David R. Rettler, age 58, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday night, August 25, 2009, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. He was born September 18, 1950, to the late Jerome and Marcella (Stephani) Rettler. Dave was a graduate of Seymour High School and Navy Vietnam Veteran. For 27 years he owned and operated Dave's Tavern in Black Creek.
    He was a Black Creek American Legion and VFW member. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Tavern League. Dave was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, enjoyed riding his bike and especially time spent with his grandchildren at the camper.
    Survivors include his special friend Kris Kimball; his children, Denae Rettler, and her children, Kyle and Josh; Geri Lynn Rettler (special friend Jody Vanevenhoven); sisters and brothers: Dorothy (Bill) Paltzer, Black Creek; Daniel (Sheri) Rettler, Black Creek; Duane (Joyce) Rettler, Black Creek; Gloria Krueger, Black Creek; Steven (Nancy) Rettler, Black Creek; Richard (JoAnn) Rettler, Menasha; sister-in-law, Cathy Rettler, Black Creek; friend Carol Rettler; and his many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by a brother Jim, infant brother Joseph, and a nephew Scott Rettler.

    Black Creek - Terry Lee Rettler age 74 passed away at his home on March 14, 2018.
    Terry was born August 30, 1943, the first child of Mile and Caroline (Stephani) Rettler. Terry was a 1961 graduate of Seymour High School. One June 24, 1967, he was united in marriage to Sandy Kitzman. Terry worked at O.J. Boldt Construction, served on the Black Creek Village board for 15 years and served in the Army National Guard. Terry was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, WI.
    Terry will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Sandy; son, Todd (Melissa) Rettler; daughter, Tracy (Chris) Prilepp; granddaughters: Brianna Prilepp, Kira and Hannah Rettler; grandson, Braeden Prilepp; brothers: Sam (Mary) Rettler, Bill (Maryann) Rettler, brother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Kitzman; sisters-in- law: Bonnie (Terry) McDermott, Nancy (Dennis) Hack, Debbie (Chuck) Elliott; along with many nieces and nephews.
    Terry is reunited in Heaven by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Alfred and Jeanette Kitzman; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sharon and Bill Viergutz; nephews Tom Viergutz and Rod McDermott.
    Friends may call at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Roland Lindeman officiating. Burial will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
    Terry will always be remembered as a kind, gentle man who deeply loved his family, grandchildren, his many friends and Heather Pick who was like a grandchild.

    Jeffrey "Jeff" Stephani, age 28, of Seymour passed away Monday evening, November 28, 2011 surrounded by family. He suffered from complications of brain cancer. In life, Jeff loved to construct and was always available to lend a hand. His humor enhanced the lives of those he knew with laughter and friendship.     Hope Elizabeth Hofacker was born asleep in Christ on Thursday, April 5, 2001, and is now one of God's little angels. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Jeffrey and Laura (Smet) Hofacker, Appleton; her older brother, Lathan. She also leaves behind her grandparents, Paul Hofacker, Mary Ellen Hofacker and Clarence (Margaret) Smet; aunts and uncles, Dan Hofacker, Greg (Jodi) Hofacker, Jenny (fiance Andy Strelow) Hofacker, Tom (Sue) Smet, Sue (Bob) Christensen, Joann (Lenny) Smurawa, Bob Smet, Linda (Mike) Nolan and John (Renee) Smet. Hope is further survived by her cousins, Collin, Caden, Craig, Adam, Nicole, Paul, Jerrod, Gary, Janice, Trisha and Erica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at St. Edward Catholic Church, N2921 State Highway 47, Appleton, with Father Charles Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 9- 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment in St. Edward Cemetery will follow the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Appleton Medical Center and also to clergy, family and friends for all of their support and prayers. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in Hope's name. When God calls little children to dwell with Him above, We mortals sometimes question the wisdom of His love. For no heartache compares with the death of one small child Who does so much to make our world seem wonderful and mild. Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to His fold. So He picks a rosebud before it can grow old. God knows how much we need them, and so He takes but few To make the land of heaven more beautiful to view. Believing this is difficult still somehow we must try. The saddest word mankind knows will always be goodbye.
