Obituary:
Salmer H. "Sam" Pingel, age 91, of the Land O'Lakes area since 1965 and formerly of Chilton, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on June 19, 1918, in Chilton to William and Linda (Teege) Pingel. Sam was a truck driver for Foremost Dairy. He was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Sam served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the European Theater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin Pingel; a sister-in-law, Renoma "Noni" Pingel, nee Busma; his wife, Eileen Hemauer-Pingel, and stepson, Michael Hemauer.
Sam is survived by his nephews: Raymond (Valeria) Pingel, Chilton; James (Christine) Pingel, Chilton; niece, Linda Pingel and friends Harold and Zipper, Maryville, TN; 11 great-nieces and nephews; stepdaughters: Sandy (Bob) Mayer, Plover, WI; Nancy Hemauer, Green Bay; Joan (Richard) Karls, Schofield; Jean (Paul) Harder, Hilbert; stepsons: David (Charlotte) Hemauer, Farmington, MN; Paul (Elaine) Hemauer of Stockbridge, Lawrence (Diane) Hemauer, Mosinee; step-daughter-in-law: Yvonne Hemauer, Hatley, WI; eight step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery in Brillion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, when the service will be held.
