    Van Sambeek, Peter A.Peter A. Van Sambeek, of Kimberly, age 87, died peacefully Sunday, Novemb er 20, 2005. He was born July 21, 1918, in Kimberly, son of the late Pet er and Marie (Wachtendonk) Van Sambeek. On August 20, 1946, he married Ri ta Oudenhoven at Holy Name Parish, Kimberly, and was a great father to the ir six children. Pete always enjoyed life. He was active in sports through out high school. After graduation, he started his career at the Kimberly p aper mill.He served his country for, "four years, three months and five days" in t he South Pacific during World War II. After service, he returned to the Ki mberly mill and worked his way up to Machine Tender, running paper machi ne #5. Despite his later onset of blindness, Pete enjoyed his family, fish ing in Northern Wisconsin, woodworking and bowling.Pete is survived by his wife, Rita; six children: Judy (Loran) Pillin g, of Golden Valley, MN; Barbara Van Sambeek of Appleton; Jim (Joy) Van Sa mbeek of Appleton; Donna (Steve) Glasheen of Neenah; Becky (Dave) Van Boxt el of Kimberly; and Dan (Kim) Van Sambeek of Darboy; nine grandchildre n; a great-grandson and happily anticipating the birth of two more grea t- grandchildren; seven siblings: Marie Schmidt, John (Dee) Van Sambeek, F rancis (Nancy) Van Sambeek, Agnes Gray, Tom (Maria) Van Sambeek, and Patri cia (Lester) Plutz, and brother and sisters-in-law: Ken (Carole) Oudenhove n, Carol Oudenhoven, Marion Oudenhoven and Ione Van Sambeek.In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by two great-grandd aughters: Hannah and Faith; two brothers: Joe and Bill; sister-in-law, Ros ie Van Sambeek; and brothers-in-law: Raymond Schmidt, Rick Gray, Jerome a nd Don Oudenhoven.A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at S t. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks. The Rev. Robert Vandenberg will o fficiate. Military rites will be conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Le gion Post # 258, Little Chute immediately following the Mass. The family w ill receive friends after 9 a.m. at the church.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the University of W isconsin Ophthalmology Department.O'CONNELL FUNERAL SERVICES 2020 E.
