    The fire department rescue squad took two persons t Appleton Memorial Hospital less than 3 hours Saturday, both apparent victims of heart a- tacks. About 11:20 a.m. the squad was called to the home of Fran Krieglstein, 1041 W. Bell Ave Authorities said Krieglstein, 4 was lying on the bed and experiencing trouble breathing The squad was called again about 2:15 p.m. when Harry Barkholtz Sr., 64, of 1433 N. Ha Ave., was having trouble breathing while in a store on E Wisconsin Ave.

    Barkholtz, Jr., Harry M.
    Harry M. Barkholtz, Jr., age 81, of Appleton, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at Cherry Meadows. He was born March 16, 1927, in Appleton, the son of Harry and Lillian Rose (Madden) Barkholtz. Harry was united in marriage to Joan R. Schmidt on June 3, 1950, and they shared 58 blessed years together. Harry served our country in the United States Army, he was a member of the 754th Tank Battalion, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, the Phillippines, and Korea. He was the Commander of the Menasha American Legion Post 152, and a member of the 40/et8.Harry was a residential building contractor for many years before his retirement, and was a member of the Valley, Wisconsin, and National Home Builders Associations.
    The Barkholtz's were charter parishioners of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and Harry was a very active, behind-the-scenes volunteer at church, instrumental in helping with fundraisers, picnics, and bingo. He was a member of the Xavier High School Board and volunteered at their annual Food Fair. Harry was a member of the town of Menasha Lions Club, and later with the Fox Valley Lioness. He was also a member of the Palisades Baseball League, town of Menasha.
    Survivors include his wife, Joan; his daughter, Joyce (James) Spaude, Fallon, Nev.; his sons: James (Jean) Barkholtz, Kimberly; David Barkholtz, Menasha; five grandchildren: Lisa (Kenneth) Fosnot, David (Emily) Spaude, Sara (Kirk) Bell, Chad (Lori) Probst, and Emily (Gary) Lewis; there are four great grandchildren; and three special nieces: Angela Schmidt, Stephanie Pomplun, and Heather Pahl.
    Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Roy, Thomas, and Ralph, and a sister, Kathleen Mock.
    A Memorial Mass for Harry will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, with Father Gerald Falk as celebrant. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Military honors will be conducted after Mass.In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution fund has been established in his name.
    A special thank you to Fr. Gerald Falk, St. Elizabeth's, and Cherry Meadows for the exceptional care given to Harry and his family.

    Barkholtz, Roy J.
    Roy J. Barkholtz, age 74, of Menasha, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1929 in Appleton, son of the late Harry and Lillian Barkholtz. He married Ruth Sasman who preceded him in death March 24, 1979. United Grocers employed Roy for many years.
    Surviving Roy are two daughters and sons-in-law: Beverly and Steve Meyerhofer of Appleton; and Jeanne and James Johnson of Appleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Joan Barkholtz of Appleton; a daughter-in-law, Linda (Jeff) Barkholtz/Fuller of Oshkosh; a sister-in-law, Joan Barkholtz of Larsen; a brother-in-law, Joseph Mock of Appleton; seven grandchildren: John (Jane) Barkholtz, Jason Barkholtz, Lisa (Chris) Bohlmann, Thomas (Laura) Johnson, Laura Meyerhofer, Sarah Meyerhofer, Ryan Meyerhofer; eight great-grandchildren: Brittany, Adam and Madeline Barkholtz; Diana, Laura, Jacob, Megan and Andrew Bohlmann; and many nieces and nephews.
    Preceding Roy in death were his wife Ruth, an infant daughter Wendy Lou, a son Roy Barkholtz Jr., a sister Kathleen Mock, his twin brother Thomas and a brother Ralph.
    A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 9, 2004 at Highland Memorial Park with the Rev. Leon Knitt officiating. A memorial fund has been established.
    The family would like to express a special thank you to Century Oaks/Emerald House for the loving care during Roy's stay and also to Hartland Hospice, Rev. Leon Knitt, Mary Debruin and Judy Thoma.

    Mock, Kathleen M. "Kay" 228 South Walter Avenue Appleton
    Age 71, died Tuesday evening, September 24, 2002, following a six month illness. She was born March 19, 1931, to the late Harry and Lillian (Madden) Barkholtz, Sr., in Brooklyn, New York and had been an Appleton resident most of her life. Kay had been employed by Appleton Medical Center and Franciscan Care and Rehabilitation Center as an L.P.N. until her retirement in 1976.
    She enjoyed gambling, traveling in her motor home and spending time with her family. Kay was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Joseph G. Mock, Sr. to whom she had been married for 37 years; three children and their spouses: Robert and Susan Byrns, Appleton; Sandra and David Feld, Appleton; Colleen and Mark Hansmann, Menasha; 12 grandchildren: Erin (Jerry) Ziegert, Haley Byrns, Amanda and Kristina Falk, Timothy, Emily, and Katie Feld, Melissa, Brian, Trevor, Amy and Anna Hansmann; a great-granddaughter, Alexandria Ziegert; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Harry and Joan Barkholtz, Jr., Menasha; Roy Barkholtz, Menasha; and a sister-in-law, Joan Barkholtz, Larson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Barkholtz. Funeral services for Kathleen will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2002, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 North Oneida Street, with Reverend Larry Matthews officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.

    Barkholtz, Ralph L. Winchester
    On August 25, 2002, Ralph went to be with his Lord and Savior, with all his loved ones by his side. Age 69, he was born May 10, 1933 in Appleton; son of the late Harry and Lillian (Madden) Barkholtz. Ralph married Joan Becker on November 26, 1955 in Appleton. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. Ralph was self employed as a home builder. He loved traveling, taking his grandkids fishing and attending their special events. Ralph was the boy's basketball coach of Martin Luther School for many years. He enjoyed painting and woodworking. Ralph was a very active and faithful member of Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, Neenah.
    Survivors include his wife Joan; four sons: Scott (Debbie) Barkholtz, Neenah; Rodney (Julie) Barkholtz, New London; Ross (Becky) Barkholtz, Hortonville; Rick Barkholtz, Wilsonville, Oregon; a daughter, Karen Basler, Neenah. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Barkholtz. He is further survived by a daughter-in-law, Gail Barkholtz, Hortonville; grandchildren: Melissa (James) Krueger, Kalen Barkholtz, Jennifer Barkholtz and fiance Chris Kern, Scott Jr., Michelle, Daydre and Jacob Barkholtz, Sarah Basler, Alissa, Joseph, Joshua, Christopher, Casey, Jordan, Anna, and Amanda Barkholtz who was born 8-25-02; three great-grandchildren, Aubree and Brenna Krueger, Caleb Kosiorek; mother-in -law, Alice Becker, Appleton; two brothers, Harry (Joan) Barkholtz Jr., Roy Barkholtz; sister, Kathleen (Joseph Sr.) Mock; four brothers-in-law: Richard (Elaine) Becker, Gary (Janet) Becker, Donald (Karen) Becker, John Becker; sister-in-law, Mary (John) Carnot; and numerous special nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas; and his father-in-law, Wilfred Becker.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Maurice officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #60 of Kimberly. Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, New London. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
    Special thanks to Pastor Richard and Judy Maurice, all of his physicians, ThedaCare at Home Hospice and to all who have touched his life.
    All of his life Ralph was a "giver." He enjoyed doing things for people and never expected anything in return.
