Obituary:
Melvin M. Pankow, age 86, of Hortonville, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Emeritus at Fox River in Grand Chute. He was born on April 22, 1928, in West Bloomfield, son of the late Harry and Hilda (Radichel) Pankow. Melvin was confirmed on March 29, 1942, at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville. He graduated from Hortonville High School with the Class of 1946. On June 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Scholl at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville. Melvin worked with his dad and brothers at Pankow's Cheese Factory in the Town of Hortonia until the business closed in 1968. He then worked at Glenn's Electric in Hortonville for 2 years, and then with Hortonville Wire Products where he was head of maintenance for many years until his retirement in 1990. Melvin was active throughout his life in his community as evidenced by his service as a volunteer fireman, the Commercial Club of Hortonville, and on the board of the Grand View Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jackie; children: Richard "Rick" (Dolores) Pankow, Hortonville; Robin (Jan) Pankow, Hortonville; Patti (Tom) Faulks, Appleton; grandchildren: Chris, Scott, Julie, Michael and Jessica Pankow; Stacy (Todd) Jens, Stephanie (Rudy) Thompson; Patrick Faulks (special friend Trisha Brundrett), and Peggy Faulks; great-grandchildren: Megan and Samuel Pankow, Sydney and Haley Jens, and Wyatt and Blaize Thompson; sisters-in-law: Sarah Pankow, Ruth Pankow, Jeanette Pankow, Corrine Radichel and Florence Scholl. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Erwin, Aaron and Milton; and brothers-in-law Kenneth Radichel and Rollyn Scholl.
The Christian Funeral for Melvin will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Hortonville with Rev. Ralph Rosenberg officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Hortonville. A visitation for Melvin will be held on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are preferred for Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Hortonville Fire Department.
