    Peter C. Leis Jr., 86, of Sparta, WI, formerly of Cashton, WI, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012, at Time for Ease in Sparta.
    Peter was born May 3, 1925 to Peter and Mary (Suhr) Leis in Brush Creek, WI. He farmed his whole life, a job that he truly loved. November 14, 1951, he married Julia Schreier and together they farmed and raised eight children.
    Peter is survived by his children: Carol (Charles Morgan) Leis of Sparta, Barbara (Ted) Denning of Chippewa Falls, Janet (Jim) Chapiewsky of Cashton, Joan (Terry) Leland of West Salem, Sharon (Nick) Trujillo of Melrose, Patrick (Shannon) Leis of Cashton, Philip (Lori) Leis of Cashton, and Susan (Howard) Larson of Bangor; a brother, George (Dolores) Leis of Sparta; sister, Theresa Schaub of Middle Ridge; sister-in-law, Gracia Leis of Sparta; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; parents; one granddaughter, Katie Leis; a great-granddaughter Ava Steponik; a sister, Mary (George) Brueggeman; brothers, Albert (Esther) Leis and Martin Leis; and a brother-in-law, Otto Schaub.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on St. Mary?s Ridge, Thursday, January 12, 2012, 11:00 a.m. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday, January 11, 2012, starting at 4:00 p.m. and concluding with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI. Visitation will also be held Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton.

    Peter married Schreier, Julia Anna 14 Nov 1951, Saint Mary's Ridge, Monroe, Wisconsin, USA. Julia (daughter of Schreier, Unknown and Unknown, UnknownF) was born 13 Sep 1929, Jefferson Township, Monroe, Wisconsin, USA; died 8 Apr 1993, Sparta, Monroe, Wisconsin, USA; was buried , St. Mary's Ridge Cemetery, St. Mary Ridge, Wisconsin, USA.     Janet Chapiewsky, age 57, of Cashton, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at her home. She was born January 18, 1959, to Peter and Julia (Schreier) Leis in Viroqua, WI. On September 15, 1979, Janet was united in marriage to James Chapiewsky. She worked at the Cashton Elementary School for many years. Janet was a member of the Friends of the Library and active in the PCCW at Sacred Heart. More than anything, she loved being a part of her grandchildren's lives. She is survived by her husband, James, her children, Jesse (Lacy) Chapiewsky of Dodgeville, WI, John (Makenzi) Chapiewsky of Cashton, WI, and Julie (David) Christensen of Poynette, WI, grandchildren, Cooper and Ty of Dodgeville, Leroy of Cashton and Etta of Poynette, siblings, Carol (Charles Morgan) Leis of Sparta, WI, Barbara (Ted) Denning of Chippewa Falls, WI, Joan (Terry) Leland of West Salem, WI, Sharon (the late, Nick) Trujillo of Melrose, WI, Patrick (Shannon) Leis of Cashton, Philip Leis of Cashton, WI and Susan (Howard) Larson of Bangor, WI, her god parents, George and Dolores Leis, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Julia and brother in law, Nick Trujillo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton. Father Michael Klos will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Cashton. Family and friends are invited for visitation Wednesday, April 20, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. to conclude at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, WI.
