    Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Rasmussen, 82, Oshkosh, passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. She was born on June 2, 1926, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth (Thomas) Rasmussen. Betty was a graduate of UW-Oshkosh and had a rewarding career as an elementary school teacher. She served the public school system for 35 years in the districts of Manitowoc, Green Bay, Racine and Neenah. She retired in 1983. She was a longtime member of the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association and also an active member of the Winnebago County Retired Educators Association. For more than 50 years Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oshkosh, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was a Deacon. Betty also belonged to the Eastern Star Oriental Chapter 16.
    She is survived by cousins, Duane (Corinne) Gabel, Appleton; Janet (Olin) Mead, Appleton; and Ron Vandeveld, Gladstone, Mich.
    Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, in the chapel at Evergreen Retirement Community led by the Reverends Alice Reimer-McKee and Tom Willadsen. Her family will greet guests following the service. Betty will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Park.
    A special thank you to Lynn Thill and her family for all of their support, to the doctors and staff at Aurora Medical Center and the caregivers from Valley VNA and Evergreen Retirement Community, for their expert care and kindness.
    Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, Evergreen Retirement Community Care Assurance Fund or the Wisconsin Parkinson's Association.
