Deltgen, Barbara C. (Mrs. William Deltgen)
Barbara Deltgen, 90, Appleton, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Rennes Health Center. She was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Little Chute, the daughter of the late Lambert and Adrianna (Vande Wettering) Van Dyn Hoven and has resided in the Fox Valley all of her life. On Sept. 22, 1936, Barbara was united in marriage to William G. Deltgen, sharing 54 years together before his death on Oct. 9, 1990. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Barb will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. The welfare of her family was always the most important thing to her.
Survivors include three children, Donna (LeRoy) London, Appleton; Daniel (Mary) Deltgen, Townsend; and David (Carol) Deltgen, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Timothy (Laura) London, Barbara Lutz and special friend, Bob Lutz, Jill (Kenneth) Steckbauer, Denise (Robert) Vande Voort, James (Anne) Deltgen, Michael (Marcy) Deltgen, Caitlin and Calli Deltgen; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Grace Van Dyn Hoven and Frances Campshure; also nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, De Anne Deltgen; and seven brothers, Anthony; Frank; John; Albert; Henry; August; and William Van Dyn Hoven.
The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, corner of Glendale and McDonald Sts, Appleton, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Friends will be received directly at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Fr. Gerald Falk, and to the doctors, nurses and staff of Appleton Medical Center, Theda Care Hospice, and Rennes Health Center. Your care and compassion was greatly appreciated.
