Obituary:
Welson, Millie A. 148 Raught Street Kaukauna Age 61, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, February 25, 2002. Millie was born on June 26, 1940 in Madison; daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Karow) Geary. Millie was a 1958 graduate of Kaukauna High School and attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis. On December 8, 1962, she married Ted Welson in Kaukauna; he survives. For a few years, Millie worked as a cook at the Kaukauna Kinder Haus Day Care, and for nearly 20 years worked as a teacher there. She always said that her gift in life was to care for children: her own sons, her grandsons, and those at Kinder Haus. Millie enjoyed caring for her garden, the outdoors, and camping. She loved animals and was a defender of their ethical treatment. Millie was an active and faithful member of New Hope Assembly of God Church, where she taught Sunday School, volunteered with the youth group, and helped in a variety of other capacities.
She will be missed by those she loved and by those who loved her. They include her husband, Ted Welson of Kaukauna; two sons: Mitchel (Marsha) Welson of Kaukauna and their sons Ethan and Eli Welson; Trevor (Bethann) Welson, Sr. of Appleton and their son Trevor Welson, Jr. Millie was also eagerly looking forward to the birth of Trevor and Bethann's daughter - her first granddaughter. She is also survived by two brothers: Walter "Lee" (Betty) Geary of Madison and Lawrence (Margaret) Geary of Madison; two sisters: Wanda (Marvin) Jones of Kaukauna and Edyth Geary of Kaukauna; four sisters-in-law: Linda Laird of Cupertino, California; Penny (Jeff) Murray of Kaukauna; Sharon Kip of San Jose, California; and Teresa Welson of North Carolina; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother-in-law, Michael Welson.
Funeral services for Millie will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at NEW HOPE ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH, 1008 Hyland Avenue in Kaukauna with Rev. Wayne Carey officiating. Interment will follow at Kelso Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Millie's name.
Millie was a woman of profound faith who reminded herself daily of her Lord's promise. She thanked Him each day for mercifully keeping her from suffering unbearable pain. And though she had complete knowledge of her illness and its consequences, her Savior's promise of eternal life granted her total comfort and inner peace. Surely, today she is sitting in the presence of the Lord, singing His praises.
