Biography:
Charles Kelsey Beam was born in McHenry Co., Ill. in 1848. He was the son of Aurelia (Crofoot) & David Beam. Shortly after his birth, Charles's family moved to Green Bay, Brown Co., Wisc. By the mid 1860's Charles was residing in Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., Ind.
On 19 Dec. 1869 Charles married Flora Angeline Crouch in St. Joseph Co. they were married by Rev. A. M. Worden.
After their marriage Charles & Flora resided in Mishawaka for 9 years. Then, in 1878 they moved to Seward, Nebraska, however, they returned to Mishawaka after only 3 years.
Charles & Flora had 4 children; Horace, Maude Leonora, Mary E. "Mamie" & Bert E. Beam. Horace died at 10 months old.
Charles profession was that of butcher. Before they moved to Nebraska, Charlie worked at Burt's Meat Market, but after their return he ran his own business, called Beam's Market. He was in the meat business for almost 50 years before he retired.
Charles Beam died in Feb. of 1930 in St. Joseph Co., Indiana, he was 82 years old
