    Four Killed In Accidents Two Die in Appleton, Two Others In Plainfield and Green Bay Areas APPLETON - Two traffic deaths within five hours Wednesday night and this morning marred Appleton's two-year perfect record. The first death occurred shortly after 9 p m Wednesday when Edward Ward. 72 a retired Kaukauna fireman, died at St Elizabeth Hospital of a fractured skull received in a car-truck accident on East Newberry Street and Walter Avenue Tuesday. Police said Ward's car was struck by a truck driven by Bernard J. Hruscka. 22. Kaukauna. The truck skidded on slippery pavement into the path of the car while attempting to negotiate a curve on Walter Avenue
    Dies at Hospital Robert W. Pompa. 72. of 2174 W. Second St.. Appleton. died at St. Elizabeth Hospital about 1:30 a.m. today shortly after he was injured when his car went out of control and crashed into a tree on West College Avenue near Mason Street. Pompa's car was wrapped around the tree and burst into flames. The Appleton fire Department extinguished the blaze Pompa's body was released from his wrecked car by Appleton police and ambulance attendants. Ward was born in Kaukauna Aug. (13? or 18?) 1892 and lived there all his life He served as a member of the Kaukauna Fire Department for 33 years before his retirement in 1956 He was a Continued on page 10. Col. 5 member of the American Legion Post 41. a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 33 and a veteran of World War I. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Kaukauna. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home,Kaukauna after 2 p.m. Friday where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery Survivors include one daughter. Mrs. Eugene Heimerman. Neenah. One son, Wilbert Ko- bussen. Kaukauna: and one sister. Mrs. Charles Sramek. Plymouth, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren The two deaths raised Outagamie County's fatality toll for this year to 19. Pompa was born Aug. 12. 1942,. in Appleton, and had been employed by Stokely Van Camps in Appleton He is survived by his mother. Lillian, six sisters. Shirley, Donna, Bonnie, Peggy, Adeline and Andrea three brothers; John, Carl and Rickie all at home. He is also survived by his grand-- mother. Mrs. Dora Pompa, Manawa. Funeral services will be held at 10.30 a.m. Saturday a' m Wichmann Funeral! Home, Appleton Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Appleton Friends may call at the funeral home after 2pm. Friday, until the hour of service.
