    Louis VOSTERS. Prominent among the farmers of Vanderbroek township m ay be mentioned Louis Vosters, a reliable citizen and energetic farmer w ho has been identified with agricultural affairs in this locality for ma ny years and now the owner of an excellent farming property. H-e was bo rn in a. log cabin on his father's farm in Vandenbroek township, Outagam ie county, October 6, 1861, and is a son of Joseph and IHattie (Hendrix) V osters, who came to this country in 1855 from Holland. Mr. Vosters' paren ts settled first in Little Chute, where Joseph Vosters found employme nt on the Government canal, and continued to work there for fifteen or twe nty years. He then purchased land just a mile north of the village, erecti ng a cabin in the woods, which was later replaced by a more comfortable dw elling, and he continued to engage in agricultural pursuits, adding from t ime to time to his acreage, until his death, March 17, 1893, when he had r eached the age of seventy-two years. His widow survived him until March 2 1, 1911, and was eighty years of age at the time of her demise. Louis Vost ers was one of a family of eleven children, and his education was secur ed in the district schools of his neighborhood, which he attended wh en he could be spared from his duties on the farm. He continued to work f or his father until he had attained his majority, at which time he went no rth into the woods and spent seven winters there, the summers being spe nt on the home farm, and he also was for one year a resident of Minnesot a, working at threshing and in the brick yards. On August 26, 1887, Mr. Vo sters was married to Katherine Johnson, who was born in Vandenbroek townsh ip, daughter of John Johnson, and after marriage Mr. Vosters purchased eig hty acres of partly cultivated land. He erected a house and other buildin gs and put the property in good condition, and when he sold it some yea rs later he did so at an advance of 100 per cent. He then purchased proper ty in the village of Kaukauna, but during the following spring purchased h is present farm, on which he has resided since 1898.
    He carries on general farming, and his hard annd persistent labor has brou ght its reward, as he has one of the highly productive and valuable trac ts of his township, his buildings being in excellent condition, the proper ty well fenced and graded, and presenting a neat appearance in general th at testifies to the presence of good management. Mr. and Mrs. Vosters ha ve had two children: Joseph and Herman. They are consistent members of S t. John's Catholic Church of Little Chute.

    Voster, Louis J. "Louie", On Feb. 23, 2010, at the age of 94, Louis took his beloved wife's hand and she led him to his Lord and Savior. He completed his journey peacefully with family at his side, and at long last, Louie and Jo are "Together Forever." Our family's patriarch was born of Dutch decent on Feb. 10, 1916, in Little Chute Wis. He was the third of 13 children born to the late Joseph L. and Petronella (Nellie Van Asten) Vosters. After graduating from St. John's High School in 1935 during the Great Depression, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a work relief program under FDR's New Deal. Six months after his return from Camp Newald, Louis found employment as a Beater Engineer at Riverside Paper, where he worked for 42 years before retiring in 1978. He had met his future wife, Josephine Anna Thein, at his Junior Prom and they married on Sept. 30, 1939, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. She was the most beloved and important person in his life, and sadly preceded him in death on June 6, 1998.
    For all of his married life, Louis was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Appleton. He proudly served as Treasurer of the Winnebago Point Road Association for ten years, where their cottage was located. Louie and Jo spent years of summers together on the lake with family and friends, fishing, playing cards, gardening, dealing with the lake flies, smoking catfish in the old refrigerator below the hill, enjoying the sunsets and each other. Louie enjoyed woodworking, putzing around, watching all of God's creatures, especially his birds, squirrels, bunnies and chippies (all named Kiki). He loved his bananas, a good fish fry, a gentle back scratch, an Old Fashion now and then, but he especially loved ice cream.
    He will be sorely missed by his children, Gerald (Dorothy) Voster, Patricia (Curtis) French, David (Linda) Voster, Michael (Mary) Voster, Linda (Jim) Warning; grandchildren, James (Sheila) Voster, Kurt (Theresa) Voster, Rebecca (Dan) Culver, Christopher Voster, Steven (Jamie) Voster, Kara (Kenneth) Vassar, Todd (Heidi) French, Amy (Randy) Harper, Heather Voster, Sarah (Brian) Lee, Erik Voster, Corrie Warning, Crystal (Jeff Nelson) Warning and Casey Warning; stepgrandchildren, James (Amy) Appleton, Jolene (David) Hemp, Kenneth Appleton, Kristine (Nicholas) Nicolini, Michael Appleton; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Tom (Donna) Vosters, Leo (Margie) Vosters, Dorothy Schmidt and Sister Mary Vosters; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Seidl, Priscilla, Margie and Doris Vosters, Henry Wiegand, Lois Eley, Richard (Dian) Thein and Louis "Bud" (Mary) Thein.
    He was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Kristina French and Theresa Voster; sisters, Catherine Seidl, Margaret Mary (Ken) Kuntsman; brothers, Walter (Ceil), Lawrence (Dolores), John, Norbert (Harriet), Bernard "Butch" and Joseph "Chuggs" Vosters; brother-in-law, Paul Schmidt; Josephine's family, Bernadine (Norman) Bauhs, Marjorie Wiegand, James Eley, MD, Edward (Ruth) Thein, Louella "Honey" (Clifford) Marron.
    For his love and devotion to our mother, his honesty, dependability and sense of fairness, Dad was an example to us all. He was a faithful man, forever dedicated to the Holy Family and to his own. We have many precious memories of Louie, who was always a comedian, had a positive attitude and possessed an incredible will to live. He also had one thick head of hair! He will be sadly missed by all who loved him, and while our world is forever changed, we celebrate his blessed 94 years on earth.
    A Mass of Christian Burial for Louis will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010, at 11 a.m. at SACRED HEART PARISH, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with the Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Proceeds will be used to support the Little Chute Windmill and Van Asten Visitor Center.
    Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Stephen Fuller for the many years of wonderful care, concern and friendship given to Dad. Our thanks to the VNA nurses and his Affinity Hospice team that allowed him to remain at home, where he wanted to be. Many thanks to his neighbors, Tom and Mary, for their way of making Louie feel so special. And to our Dad, thank you for being you. We will always love you and until we meet again, Bid voor Ons.

    John J. Vosters, 86, Kimberly, died Thursday evening, July 5, 2007, at St. Paul Home, following a short illness. He was born July 24, 1920, to the late Joseph L. and Petrenella (Van Asten) Vosters, in Little Chute and had been a Kimberly resident for 60 years. He married Priscilla Schnese on July 23, 1946, at Holy Name Parish, Kimberly. John had been employed by Kimberly-Clark for 40 years retiring in 1979. He was in engineering as a pipe fitter most of these years. He also was a member of the Kimberly Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. John was an U.S. Army veteran and spent four years in the Pacific Theater. He was proud to serve for God and Country. He enjoyed fishing, sports, crafts, gardening, playing cards and lately casinos. John was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly and Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258.
    He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Priscilla M.     The funeral liturgy for John will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2007, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 Kimberly Avenue, with Msg. Jim Feely and Msg. John Schuh officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and on Monday from 9 a.m., until the cortege leaves for the church. An American Legion visitation will be at 6:30 p.m., Sunday. There will be a parish prayer and scripture service on Sunday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial funds are being established.
    We would like to thank all the wonderful caring people at St. Paul Home and Villa who made our Dad's last days so beautiful.

    In her 82 years on this earth, Margaret was all a woman could be: She was a daughter to the late Joseph and Nellie (VanAsten) Vosters and a sister to her 12 siblings: Catherine, Walter, Louis, Larry, John, Norbert, Butch, Dorothy, Dolores, Joe, Tom and Leo, growing up in Little Chute, and was preceded in death by all of her older siblings.
    On August 20, 1949, she became the wife of Ken Kunstman, daughter-in-law to Rudy and Elsie, and sister-in-law to Ken's two sisters, Eileen and Elaine. She was an adventurer with her husband Ken ? traveling around the world, as well as camping throughout Wisconsin, and spent retirement time with Ken and family at their cottage on Legend Lake. She was a great friend to her bridge playing buddies and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church choir.
    For over 30 years, Margaret was Ken's business partner at KenMar Photography, Appleton. The couple enjoyed 49 years together until Ken's death in 1999.
    She was mom to Mark (Kathy), Todd (Debbie), Timm (Louise), and Jann (Mike); Nana to Shannon, Chris, Sarah, Zach, Emma, Emily, Mitchel, and Ellie; and great-grandma to Flynn, Henry, Paige and Chase. She was Aunt Margaret to numerous nieces and nephews many of whom still gather, and will now miss her, at annual family reunions.
    She was a good neighbor to those near her home on Oneida Street, Appleton, and formed an instant bond with everyone she met.
    She was easy to love and hard to forget and her spirit lives on in all the lives she touched. Please visit with all those who love her at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Sunday, April 5, 2009, from 3-5 p.m., and at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 414 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, on Monday, April 6, 2009, from 9:30 a.m., and attend a Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

    Dorothy "Dort" J. Schmidt, 86, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born December 2, 1928 a daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (Van Asten) Vosters.
    She was united in marriage to Paul Schmidt on February 20, 1950 at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. Paul preceded her in death on April 5, 1994.
    Dorothy and Paul farmed in the town of Osborn for many years. While on the farm Dorothy also operated "DJ's Costume Shop" and was known for her excellent sewing abilities and creativity with Halloween costumes.
    She enjoyed spending time with her family at her cottage in Rosholt playing sheepshead and having Old Fashions on the pontoon boat. In her earlier years Dorothy enjoyed snowmobiling as a member of the Dairyland Snowmobile Club, and square dancing. Dorothy volunteered for many years at St. Vincent DePaul in Green Bay. She also enjoyed the companionship of her Chihuahuas.
    Dorothy's grandchildren were her pride and joy. She took every opportunity possible to spend time with them.
    She is survived by her children: Helen Tilkens, Green Bay; Tom (Patti) Schmidt, Seymour; Paula J. Schmidt, Kimberly; Dee (John) Nagel, Seymour; Mary (Pat) Guyette, Black Creek; Sally (Rick) Rohm, Black Creek; Sue (Jerry) Cismoski, New London; and Louis (Mary Jo) Schmidt, Seymour; 17 grandchildren: Scott, Todd, Kristi, Kimberly, Jamie, Justin, Alyssa, Natalie, Ashley, Ryan, David, Luke, Mark, John, Jeni, Bryan, and Paul; and 7 great-grandchildren. Further survived by a sister, Sister Mary Vosters, Racine; 2 brothers: Thomas (Donna) Vosters, Kimberly; and Leo (Margie) Vosters, Little Chute; sisters-in-law, Doris, Margie, and Percy Vosters.
    In addition to her parents and husband, Paul, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons: Paul "Joe" and David; grandson, Joseph; siblings: Catherine, Walter, Louis, Lawrence, John, Butch, Norbert, Margaret, and Joseph.
    Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour on Monday, June 15, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Chuggs was also member of the Com bined Locks Advancement Association, Rolling Stone Lake Association, Moo se River Hunting Club and the Skulls of St. John.He was an avid hunter and fisherman who especially loved spending ti me at his trailer at Rolling Stone Lake.     Fran Seidl, Combined Locks, 71, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Theda Clark Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Appleton to the late Frank C. and Catherine (Vosters) Seidl. Faith and family were a big part of Fran's life. He was a 1957 graduate of Appleton High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957-1965. On April 4, 1961, he married Nancy Vander Velden at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. After 44 years of service, Fran retired from Riverside Paper Corp. where he proudly followed in his dad's footsteps as Head Fireman in the Boiler Room. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Parish and a retiree of the Combined Locks Volunteer Fire Department. Fran had a special interest and hobby in gardening, taking pride in growing many flower and vegetable plants. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, always rooting for #24. Fran enjoyed all types of fishing, especially the many trips to Canada, Minnesota and North Dakota.
    He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy; children, Gail (Dan) Schultz, Darboy; Jeff (Barb) Seidl, Menomonee Falls; Sue (Jeff) Smith, Winneconne; and Steve (Kelly) Seidl, Brea, CA; grandchildren: Aaron (Monica), Alyssa, Andrew and Alec Schultz, Tony, Taylor and Sam Seidl, Amanda and Cassie Mielke, Lauren, Ben and Ryan Seidl; sisters and brother: Ann (Bob) Arndt, Dave (Cathie) Seidl and Kris (Bruce) Carew; and sister and brother-in-law: Pat (Gene) Gloudemans and Jim Vander Velden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Fran was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Cleborne and Margaret Vander Velden; and sister-in-law, Judy Vander Velden.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St., Combined Locks) beginning at 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 12 noon. The Rev.     Eugene James Vosters, age 62, passed away November 18, 2010 at Bloomington Hospital. He was born May 1, 1948 in Appleton to parents Walter S. and Lucille D. (Vandehey) Vosters. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He married his wife, Christa on March 20, 1989. He loved the ocean and liked to hunt and fish. He worked as a farmer, and also made kettle corn, built houses, cabinets and furniture.
    He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Stacey Vosters and Cindy (Steve) Shafer; a son, Eugene J. Vosters, two grandsons, Wyatt and Joshua Shafer; and a brother, Carl (Margaret) Vosters.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Funeral services will be held Monday November 22 at 10 a.m. at Poindexter-Hall-McClure/Odom Chapel. Interment will take place at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.     David Louis Voster, 65, of Appleton, was relinquished by his loving family, to the arms of our Savior, on Saturday, June 30, 2012. David was born May 2, 1947 as the middle child to the late Louis J. and Josephine A. (Thein) Voster in Appleton, Wisconsin. Recently diagnosed with incurable cancer, David mercifully died from a brain aneurysm. A favorite of many, David will be sorely missed.
    Living in Appleton all his life, he attended Appleton Parochial schools: Sacred Heart Catholic School and Xavier High School (class of '64). He met his wife of 43 yrs (as he would say "If you're tough you can take it"), Linda J Young of Syracuse, NY while serving in the U.S. Navy and based in Norfolk, Virginia. They were married in Appleton, March 15, 1969.
    He began his career with the Appleton Police Department in 1972 and retired as Lieutenant in 2000.
    David lived life fully and generously, with deep faith and a kind heart. He took great joy in bringing others happiness and in making them laugh - particularly by delivering witty one-liners with a twinkle in his eye. He maintained a strong devotion to family, especially his parents, his wife, his daughters, and grandsons. David enjoyed travelling and toured his young family through the 48 contiguous states, five Canadian Provinces, and Mexico. He had a keen appreciation of nature and found beauty in the simplest things; the sight of a blooming flower, the call of a loon, or the smell of the forested earth. His love of the outdoors included a special fondness for his property near Lake Alpine and annual Canadian fishing trips. He had a strong love of music and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and hosting "Game Day" when the Green Bay Packers played. Those that were fortunate enough to know David will attest to his philosophy: Enjoy your day, do good works, and smile, you'll make someone else happy.

    Peggy Alberts passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born January 12, 1949, in Appleton, WI, to Kenneth and Mary Kunstman. Peggy married Donald Alberts on January 20, 1968, at the St. Joseph Chapel. Peggy worked for many years as a nurse's aid at various care facilities throughout the Appleton area, including but not limited to, Oakridge Gardens and Franciscan Care. Most recently Peggy was a loving grandma to her eight grandchildren.
    Peggy will be sadly missed by her husband, Donald; two sons: Joseph (Kelly), James (Jennifer); two daughters: Tammy, Tracy (Shane Keller); mother, Mary Kunstman; three brothers: Daniel (Lynne), John (Karen), Garry; four sisters: Mary (Robert) Blair, Ann (Mike) Elias, Lorie Kunstman and Karen Laux; a brother-in-law, Richard (Tricia) Alberts; and eight grandchildren: Julia, Tasha, Alyssa, Joshua, Morgen, Justin, Eric and Jaysen. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
    Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Kunstman and her younger brother, David Kunstman.
    Funeral services for Peggy will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton, with Rev. Ted Tromble officiating. Family and friends may visit with family from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place Friday at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
    In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
