Obituary:
Hortonville - Ruth N. Foley, age 85, Hortonville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. She was born on July 26, 1932, in Fond du Lac, daughter of the late Otto and Florence (Gielow) Schmidt. On September 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to James Foley at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2013.
Ruth was a member of the Hortonville Auxiliary Post #55 and Disabled American Veterans. She served on the board of directors for Grandview Golf Course and SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where she served as a finance money counter since 1979. In addition to her many years of service in these areas, Jim and Ruth owned and operated Foley's Bar for 10 years and the Hortonville Lumber Yard for 17 years. Ruth was also employed by the Village of Hortonville.
She is survived by her brother in-law, David Schroeder; sisters- in-law, Gerri Foley, Helen Paulik and Ellen Schmidt; nephews, Ryan (Stacey) Foley and Nick Schmidt; niece Kelly (Tracy) Reierson as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, sisters, Norene Huffman and Susan Schroeder, and a brother, Clarence Schmidt.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 105 N. Olk St., Hortonville with Fr. James Jungenheimer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to American Legion Post 55 Scholarship Fund.
