Obituary:
Sister Francis Xavier Gertz, 78, of Holy Family Convent, Rt. 5, Manitowoc, died Sunday at the convent. Funeral services will be at 2:30 .m. Tuesday at Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Rev. Julian Resch, O. Praem, will officiate and burial will be in the convent cemetery. Sister Francis Xavier, nee Rose Gertz, was born Oct. 7, 1895, at Kaukauna, daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Scovoron Gertz. She entered the Order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1910 and professed her vows in 1914. She served the community as a teacher at Algoma, Antigo, Mackville, Maple Grove, Oconto Falls, Waukesha and St. Boniface, Manitowoc, and Petoskey, Menominee, Escanaba and Manistique, Mich. Surviving is a brother, Michael Gertz, of Gerrison, N.D. Friends may call at the convent from 7 to 9 o'clock this Monday evening and Tuesday prior to the time of service. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
