    Valerie J. Lornson "Hannah," age 56, of Freedom, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 at home while surrounded by many loving family members. She was born in Ashland on Aug. 8, 1947, the daughter of Felix and Dorothy (Croteau) Meierotto. On Nov. 5, 1966, she married Kenneth Lornson.
    Hannah was a die-hard Vikings fan and also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, especially Tony Stewart. She was an avid gambler and loved taking trips to Vegas and Green Bay, where she once won a boat. Her family was a very important part of her life and she loved spoiling her grandchildren. Trips to the cottage in Langlade with family were also much enjoyed. A very giving person in nature, she supported her favorite charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Many people will remember and miss her from her 15 years of bartending at Dan & A.J.'s.
    Hannah was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her husband of 37 years, Ken; children, Eric (Manuela) Lornson, Appleton; Nicole (Louis) Cummings, Kaukauna; and Heath (Shannon) Lornson, Freedom; grandchildren, Aaron, Kyra, and Austin Lornson; Brent and Joan Cummings; and Hannah Lornson; a brother, Jay (Deb) Meierotto, Ashland and their sons, Parker and Christian; very special friends, Donna and Mary Kay; and her cherished dog, Shelby.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kurt; and a special niece and godchild, Barb Derks.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, N4088 Cty Trk E in Freedom, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
    The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Swanson and staff and ThedaCare Hospice for their exceptional care of Hannah. Thank you also to all of the special friends made over the years at Dan & A.J.'s.
    Mom's Angel Poem
    Dear Lord, You gave me an
    angel from heaven,
    Who tended to me every day.
    She saw me through trial and errors,
    Watched and prayed as I went on my way.
    My angel protected me as
    always,
    And vigilant ever was she,
    While fasting and praying for others,
    And faithfully calling on thee.
    My angel from heaven did love me.
    I was blessed from the day I
    was born,
    For that angel was my
    precious mother;
    And now, her departure I
    mourn.
    So please, Father, give her
    that mansion
    She talked about time after
    time.
    Let her sing in your
    heavenly choir,
    Among angels' voices
    sublime.
    Please bless her and keep her forever
    In heaven, away from all pain,
    And help me to be much more like her,
    So I can be with her again.
