    Obituary:
    Harland R. "Doc" Lewis, 89, Ledgeview, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2011. He was born on Jan. 9, 1922, the son of the late Peter and Leona (Howard) Lewis. Harland served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was employed as a deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Department and then drove semi for Schneider Transport until his retirement. Harland was a member of the VFW Winecki Post #9677.He is survived by his wife, Jean (VanDenHeuvel) Lewis; and his children, Sally (Gene) Landwehr, Mike (Pattie) Lewis, Marty (Renee) Lewis, Ted (Dawn) Lewis, Andy (Jenny) Lewis and Matt Lewis. Harland is also survived by his grandchildren, Tony Landwehr, Lara (Bryan) Drown, Angela Lewis, Eric, Meghan and Hannah Lewis, Liam O'Hanlon, Sarah (Luke) Zepnick, Becky and Noah Lewis; and by his great-granddaughters, Ravyn and Camille Drown; his sisters, Fern (Ray) Gerlikowski and Lee (Don) Stascak; his sisters-in-law, Bev Lewis and Liz Belongia VanDenHeuvel; and his brother-in-law, Pat (Mary) VanDenHeuvel. Many nieces and nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Lewis; and by his brothers, Howard and Alfred Willequette and Alvin and Lyle Lewis.Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Friday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m. VFW Memorial Service 6:30 p.m. (TODAY). Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 Libal Street, until the time of service. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. Caleb Azure officiating. Military Honors will follow at the church. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Harland's family is so thankful for and appreciative of the wonderful care he and our entire family received at Aurora Hospital Medical/Surgical 1 and at Bornemann Nursing Home Rehabilitation Unit. Our hero has died. We will miss his kindness, his gentle manner, his guidance and his one-liners.
