Blanche was born on February 11, 191 2, in Little Chute, to the late Martin and Jane (Janssen) Van Hoof. She ma rried S.M. Timmers on June 15, 1935, in Little Chute; he preceded her in d eath on December 29, 2000. Blanche was a charter member of the Christ Chi ld Society, the Lady Elks and a 50-year member of Butte des Morts Count ry Club. Additionally, he received a Doctor of Law Degr ee from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1966. He practiced l aw in Little Chute for over 60 years.     Francis "Van" Martin VanHoof, age 91, of DeForest, passed away peacefully Monday, March 7, 2011 at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born April 2, 1919 in Little Chute, the son of Martin and Jane (Jansen) VanHoof.
    Van worked for American Airlines until Wisconsin Central Airlines started operations in 1948 in Clinton. He was one of the first 19 pilots hired. In 1960 Fran moved to a farm in Cottage Grove where he built an air strip, opening Flying Hoof Airport, which later became Blackhawk Airfield.
    Van is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dawn (Mettner) VanHoof of DeForest; a son, Peter (Karen) VanHoof; three daughters, Viki (Dimitri) Bulazel, Jamie (Joe Gruber) VanHoof, Christine (Javiar) Gurrola-Gal; a stepson, Rex (Robyn) Rylander; two stepdaughters, Renae (Todd Donkle) Schroeder and Debra Wells; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Urban (Anne) VanHoof; and a sister, Joan (John) Scherer.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen VanHoof; a grandson, Steven VanHoof; a brother, Gerard VanHoof; two sisters, Anne Goshgarian and Blanche Timmers; and two previous wives, Janet Gaffney and Marlain Nelson, the mothers of his children.

    Urban J. Van Hoof, Little Chute, age 91, died at his home Tuesday September 24, 2013. He was born in Little Chute on December 6, 1921 to the late Martin and Jane (Jansen) Van Hoof. Urban graduated from St. John Catholic High School in 1940 and was a lifetime member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant in the South Pacific and China theaters and was honorably discharged in June, 1946. Urban married Anne Clark at St. Mary Parish in Belleville, WI on June 13, 1949.
    Urban attended the University of Michigan and Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1948. He then attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. Urban received his law degree and was admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1951. In that same year, he was admitted to practice law in the United States Federal Court Western District of Wisconsin and in 1955 to the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Wisconsin in 1966. Urban was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and Outagamie County Bar Association. He practiced law in the Village of Little Chute since 1950.
    Urban was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. John J. Sprangers Council 10919 for over 59 years. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his yard. Urban also enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with family, close friends and grandchildren.
    Urban is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anne; sons: David (Tari) of Appleton; John (Julie) of Appleton; and Michael (Heather), Kaukauna; grandchildren: Ashley (Anthony) Wilhelms, Kelly (Tom) Campbell, Matthew, Taylor, Logan, Paige and Brooke Van Hoof; sister: Joan Scherer; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill (Helen) Clark, Gloria Clark, Dawn Van Hoof and Janet Clark. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents, Urban was preceded in death by his son, Jim; sisters and brothers: Ann (Doc) Goshgarian, Blanche (Tim) Timmers, Gerald (Virginia) Van Hoof and Francis Van Hoof; and brothers-in-law: John Scherer, Jim Clark and Richard Joseph "Dick" Clark.
    Visitation will be held Friday September 27, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine Street Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow. Committal St. John Cemetery. A memorial is being established.     Joan C. Scherer, age 84, of Darboy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 14, 2016. She was born on April 23, 1932, daughter of the late Martin and Jane (Janssen) Van Hoof. Joan graduated from St. John High School in Little Chute, Class of 1950. She then attended St. Agnes School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Joan was a dedicated RN until she started working at her husband's drug store, Look Drug Store in Kaukauna, in 1987.
    Joan married John Scherer on January 30, 1954, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.
    Faith was extremely important to Joan, and she was very active in her parish communities. She was involved in Bible studies, Parish Council, and care ministries at both St. Aloysius in Kaukauna and Holy Angels in Darboy. She was also a trustee and a lector at Mass. Joan enjoyed golfing at Fox Valley Golf Club, playing cards in her card club, puzzles, gardening, lunch dates with friends, her YMCA "Silver Sneakers", and camping, especially the annual family outing to Peninsula State Park for their week long tent camping adventure. Most of all, Joan enjoyed time spent with her family. Any time they were gathered together, she was filled with joy.

    The funeral liturgy will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Holy Spirit Parish, Darboy location, W2796 Cty Hwy KK, Appleton, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating.     Carol Jane (Timmers) Pflieger, 78, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 25, 1936, in Appleton to Sylvester and Blanche (Van Hoof) Timmers. On Jan. 3, 1959, she married Patrick L. Pflieger in Milwaukee.
    Carol graduated from Appleton High School in 1953, and then earned her RN-BSN at Marquette College of Nursing in 1958. She and her husband moved to Door County in 1974, and she began work for the Door County Public Health Department. She retired as the Director of Public Health in 1991.
    Carol served on the Board of Directors for Headstart of Northeastern Wisconsin from 1992-2014. She was the board liaison to the Policy Council and on the Health Service Advisory Committee. She was a member of Sturgeon Bay Lions and was serving as current president. She was also on the Sturm Humanitarian Foundation Board for District 27-B2 and was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Carol assisted her husband Patrick with his work on the Wisconsin Lions Foundation Board and was his partner in service during his year as District Governor.
    Carol was an avid reader, loved to play golf and loved horses. She finally got a horse of her own in 1972, and horses have been a part of her family ever since. One of her favorite recent pastimes was watching her grandchildren's athletic events.
    Survivors include her husband, four children: Ann (Erwin) Smejkal, Timothy (Wendy) Pflieger, Julie Pflieger, Jonathon (JoAnn) Pflieger, all of Sturgeon Bay; 7 grandchildren: Amy, Lisa, Molly, Ashley, Jared, Joshua, and Jacob; two brothers, Tom (Virginia) Timmers, Appleton; Joseph Timmers, Sturgeon Bay. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Blanche, two brothers, Richard and William.
    A memorial mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.     The Honorable Richard H. Timmers, aged 72, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 3, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Blanche Timmers, and his brother Bill Timmers.
