    ONKELS, Carolyn M., of 510 So. State St., passed away Thurs., Oct. 28. S he was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and the St. Xita Hospit al Guild. Survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Celia Satenstein, Miami, Flori da and Mrs. Stephanie Clark, City; 2 sons, Paul Onkels, Colorado Spring s, Colorado and David Onkels of Ferndale; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mr s. Winifred Rust,City, Mrs. Mardell Parcher, Ferndale; 3 brothers, Merle Durham, Port Angel es, Howard Durham of Redwood City, Calif. and Winfield Durham of Beaverto n, Oregon; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Rosary will be sa id Sunday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. within the Chapel of the WESTFORD FUNERAL HOM E. Mass of Christian burial will be offered Monday, Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. wit hin the Church of the Sacred Heart, Father Jerome Dooley officiating. Int erment Greenacres.

    LOCAL MAN DIES IN JET CRASH
    Lt. Onkels Lost As Plane Goes Down in Ocean Lt. (j. g.) Peter J. Onkels Jr. was missing and presumed dead Monday af ter his Navy jet fighter crashed Saturday during an operational flight wi th his squadron off the coast of California. The 25-year-old Navy pilot was the son of Mr. And Mrs. Peter J. Onkel s, 616 Forest St. The family was notified Sunday that their son was missin g. Sunday would have been his 25th birthday. A later telegram from Lt. Onkels' commanding officer, Capt. James O. Co bb of the carrier Yorktown, said searchers had positively identified float ing debris as from Onkels' jet fighter.
    SERVED AT ALAMEDA Onkels received his Navy wings in the summer of 1956, and had serv ed at the Alameda, Calif., Naval Air Station since that time. His squadr on was on an operational flight between Alameda and the Yorktown, about 1 00 miles offshore, when the plane went down. He was a graduate of Bellingham High School and of the Universi ty of Washington. His father is superintendent of Pacific Coast Paper Mill s, a division of Puget Sound Pulp and Timber Co. Surviving relatives in addition to the parents are two brothers, Pa ul and David and two sisters, Celia and Stephanie. Celia a recent gradua te of the University of Washington, was a 1954 Blossom Time princess.

    Crash Occurred During Approach SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Lt. (jg) Peter J. Onkels, 26, of Bellingham, Was h., was killed Saturday night, the Navy said Monday, when his plan crash ed while making an approach on the carrier Yorktown, 80 miles off San Dieg o. Lieut. Onkels was a member of Fighter Squadron 92,based at Alameda Nav al Air Station. He was engaged in radar exercised when accident occurre d. He was flying a Butsheo jet.
