    Lom, Josephine M.“Josie”AppletonAge 78, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Cherry Meadows in Peabody Manor. S he was born in Little Chute on December 3, 1924 to the late Anton and Mar ie (Janssen) Van Gompel. On May 6, 1944 she married Herbert Lom, he preced ed her in death on June 14, 2002. Josephine was a member of St. Edward Cat holic Church in Mackville and a member of the Christian Women there. She w as also a member of the Town of Center Homemaker Club and a member of t he WOW Club.     Walker, Imelda R., 1116 Harri son Street, KaukaunaAge 77, died Tuesday evening, January 27, 2004, following a courageous bat tle with kidney disease. She was born August 6, 1926, to the late Antho ny and Marie (Janssen) Van Gompel, in Little Chute and had been an area re sident all of her life. Imelda had been employed as a store manger for Cam pbell Clothing Store until its closing. In her retirement years, Imelda en joyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo, visiting c asinos, some travel and her pets at home. She was a member of Holy Cross C atholic Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Vic ki Walker, Kaukauna; two daughters, Cheryl Vandenberg, Kaukauna; Susan Wal ker and her special friend, Gerald Zivkovich, Freedom; five grandchildre n, Angela (Stephen) Snyder, Dayna Walker, Travis Vandenberg and his speci al friend, Ashley Janssen, Rory and Ali Gerow; a great granddaughter, Em ma Snyder; Jason Quella, a family friend; three brothers and sisters-in-la w, Peter and Jenny Schmalz, Darboy; Dick and Audrey Van Gompel, Little Chu te; Marc and Mary Van Gompel, Gillett; a sister and brother-in-law, Lyn da and Norb Weyers, Kaukauna; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Van Gompel, L ittle Chute.     Genevieve O. Schmalz, Darboy, age 85, died Thursday October 17, 2013 at her home. She was born in Little Chute on January 3, 1928 to the late Anton and Marie (Janssen) Van Gompel. Genevieve married Peter Schmalz on September 10, 1949 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting and playing Sheepshead and was an avid Packer fan. Genevieve treasured time spent with her family.
    Genevieve is survived by her loving husband Peter; children: Leon (Vickie), Tallahassee, FL; Rebecca (Daniel) Fernandez, Olathe, KS; Steven (Sheryl), Neenah; Cynthia (Barry) Phillips, Neenah; and Ramona (John) Dahlke, Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren: Andrea Webb, Shane and Alex Fernandez, Josh (Jenny) Schmalz, Jennifer (Ben) Busch, Kimberly Tessen (fiancé Robert Milz), Amber Schmalz (fiancé Shaun Casper), Ariel (Justin) Catlin, Lydia and Johnathan Schmalz, Eric and Kristine Phillips, Nicole (Luke) Scoles, Cassandra (Dave) Hale, Danielle (Matt) Pena, Adam (Pilar) and John M.     Van Gompel, Carl J., Little C huteAge 43, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 16, 2003 in Little Chute. Ca rl, the son of James and Catherine (Wildenberg) Van Gompel, was born in Ap pleton on January 16, 1960. Carl was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomuc ene Catholic Church in Little Chute, where for over 20 years he regular ly served as an usher at the 4:30 p.m. Saturday Mass. He was also a memb er of the St. John's Athletic Association. Carl was employed at Willie's S upper Club in Little Chute and was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoyi ng the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
    Carl is survived by his mother, three sisters and three brothers: Marie (P aul) Alsbergas, Orangeville, Ontario, Canada; Joe (Toni) Van Gompel, Austi n, Texas; Chris (Lori) Van Gompel, Darboy; Barb (Dave) Ritchie, Darlingto n; Betty Van Gompel, Kenosha; Ken (Kathy) Van Gompel, Hilbert; 15 nieces a nd nephews: Goddaughter Jeanne Marie Spaulding, Duluth, Minnesota; sever al aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.Carl was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Anton and M arie Van Gompel, and Joseph and Jeanette Wildenberg.The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2003 at St. J ohn Nepomucene Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen offi ciating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.Friends may call at Verkuilen Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. unt il 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
    A memorial fund has been established.Dear Uncle Carl, We'll miss your reading us stories, rough housing in t he yard, playing in the snow and all the fun times we had with you. You we re greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all of us. From your nieces a nd nephews.
