She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1964. After her high school graduation she attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison with the initial intent of becoming a nurse. However, during her time at the university she found her true passion in radio broadcasting.

Eventually Susan and her family returned to Wisconsin and she retired from WAPL/WHBY Radio Station after twenty-four years. Radio and broadcasting was a true passion for Susan, she also enjoyed old movies and reading. Her fondest memories where those spent with her grandchildren; especially being able to watch them play. She also had a soft spot for her furry friend Snickers.
She is survived by her loving sons, Dan and Steven (Rena); her four grandchildren, Markos, Kiera, Christian and Arianna and her dear friend Pat Schmidt.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant brother.
