    Van Handel, John F.John F. Van Handel, age 94, of Garden Grove, California, formerly of Apple ton, was re-united with his wife, Mary, on Thursday, September 28, 2006. J ohn was born August 30, 1912, in the Town of Vandenbroek, Outagamie Count y, the son of the late Arnold and Lena (Williamson) Van Handel. He had res ided in the Appleton area all of his life until moving to Garden Grove fol lowing the death of his wife. On February 8, 1941, he was united in marria ge Mary Otte, sharing 62 years together before her death in 2003. John w as employed by Hoffman Construction Company for 25 years, retiring in 19 77 and was a veteran of WWII serving as an ambulance driver with the U. S. Army in Europe. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and a me mber of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 955 since 1946.Survivors include his children: Pat Wort, Fallbrook, CA; Jean (Craig) Seym our, Thousand Oaks, CA; Mary (Michael) Mader, Pleasant Prairie, WI; Don na (Mohammed) Khatlib, Alameda, CA; Roger (Joyce) Van Handel, Appleton; Da ve (Karen) Van Handel, Placentia, CA; Duane Van Handel, Fountain Valley, C A; a brother, Ted Van Handel, Kimberly; sisters: Gertrude Verkuilen, Neena h; Margaret Phillips, Weyauwega; grandchildren: Lisa and Amy Mader, Sar ah and Adam Khatib, Ross (Sheila), Reed (Joanna), and Heath (Jenny) Van Ha ndel, and Marc Van Handel; great grandchildren: Frank, Claire, Luke, Lill i, John, Ryan, Tommy, and Matt Van Handel; step-grandchildren: Nathan a nd Noah Seymour.In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by brother s: Joseph, Edward, Henry "Hank", and an infant brother, sisters: Josephi ne Evers and Mary Van Handel.The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday October 7 th at St. Therese Catholic Church, corner of Wisconsin and Morrison Sts. A ppleton, followed by military honors. John will be laid to rest next to Ma ry at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church from 9: 30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
