Dr. James B. Randerson, 72, Seymour, retired veterinarian, died unexpectedly of heart's disease at St. Vincent's hospital, Green Bay, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon.. He had been under treatment at the hospital.
Born in the town of Freedom June 29, 1868, he practiced at Seymour for 35 years and retired five years ago.
Survivors are the widow and a sister, Mrs. Ann McAbee, DePere. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Friday morning at St. John's church, Seymour, with the Rev Adam Grill in charge. Burial will be at Freedom.

Eileen M. Van Wychen, 96, Freedom, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Paul Elder Services. She was born March 4, 1914, in Freedom to the late George and Josephine (Farrell) Randerson. Eileen married Norbert Van Wychen at St. Nicholas Parish on July 8, 1937. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2007, after 70 years of marriage. Together, they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Kaukauna until 1949 after which they moved to the Town of Freedom. Later, Eileen worked as a baker for the Freedom Elementary School. She enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino. In her earlier years, Eileen loved to fish at their cottage at Crooked Lake. She and Norbert loved to travel. Eileen cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her children, Patricia "Pat" (Fred) Zimmer, Grand Chute; Tom (Mary Pat) Van Wychen, Kaukauna; and Luanne (Tim) Brinkman, Freedom; daughter-in-law: Joyce Van Wychen, Freedom; grandchildren: Dan (Ann) Wynboom, Kathi (Randy) Sanders (Goddaughter), Judy (Ed) Krzyzak, Sue (Mike) Eiting, Shari (Todd) Romenesko (Goddaughter), Michael Van Wychen, Andy Wilquet, Lori (John) Don Carlos, Lisa (Joe) Derivan, Christopher and Angela Brinkman; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernice Randerson, Jerome (Edna), Tony (Lillian), Rich (Betty), William (Bernice) and Melvin Van Wychen; additional Godchildren: Bette Wilkens (whom she shared a birthday and was very close to) and Pete Van Wychen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jerry was bo rn on June 17, 1917 in Freedom, WI to the late George and Josephine Rander son. Jerry married Helen Crowe in 1942 and she passed away in 1972. On Aug ust 1, 1985 he married Bernice Ulman at St. Thomas More Catholic Churc h. A salesman his whole life he worked in the soft drink and clothing indu stries until retiring in 1987.In 1959 he founded the Appleton "Serra Club" International, which is an or ganization of Catholic lay men who help promote vocations to priesthoo d. He was also a devoted member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and mem ber of Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of and past preside nt of the Appleton Jaycees. Upon retiring he and Bernice enjoyed traveli ng during winters to Hawaii and Florida. He enjoyed spending summers wi th family and friends at his cottage on Boundary Lake. He was also an av id trout fisherman, deer hunter and gardener. Chester J. School, 84, Freedom, died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday morning, July 2, 2008, at his home. Chester was born November 9, 1923, in the Town of Oneida, a son of the late Jacob and Mary (Randerson) School. On June 30, 1945, Chester married the former Gladys Baril. Chet dairy farmed all his life. He was born on the farm, raised his children on the farm, and died on the farm. He loved the land and could not wait to get out on it. His greatest joy was being with his family. He especially liked when they all came up to his trailer at Silver Cliff.
He is survived by his wife Gladys; his children: Gloria (Tom) Farrell, St. Charles, IL; David School, Kaukauna; Gary School, Appleton; and Robin (Ollie) Toms, Appleton; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Chet is further survived by his two sisters-in-law: Millie School and June Lemorand.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law: Robert School and Clayton (Agnes) School; and one sister, Elaine (Al) Linders.
Visitation for Chet will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, County Road E, Freedom. William Randerson, of Freedom, age 87, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 2, 2010, at Grand Horizons, Appleton. William was born in Freedom on April 27, 1923, son of the late Frank and Anna (Van Domelen) Randerson. William married Lois June Lange on June 1, 1949, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. A World War II veteran, William was a member of the Freedom VFW Post 7692 where he also served as past commander. He served as a surgical technician during World War II and was awarded three battle stars for the Beaches of Normandy, The Battle of the Bulge, and Crossing the Rhine River in Germany. William also received the following decorations and citations, the American Theater Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Ribbon. He was honorably discharged from the service on December 5, 1945. William operated a dairy farm in Freedom for over 25 years. After farming, he was employed as a bus driver and custodian for the Freedom School District, and was later employed by the City of Appleton Street Department until his retirement in 1985. After his retirement, William and Lois moved to Shawano. William's homestead on Shawano Lake was his pride and joy. He enjoyed fishing, boat riding, playing bean bag, playing cards, especially sheephead and spending time with family and friends. William was also well known for his dancing the "jig" at weddings and family functions.
William is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois; children: Judy (Ken) Lautenslager, De Pere; Nancy (Mike) Vosters, Freedom; and Connie Huss, Freedom; grandchildren: Bryan (Stacey) Rohm, Stacy (Adam) Landsverk, Kyle (Cathy) Vosters, Ryan Huss and Nicole Huss (fiance Gordy Vandenberg); great-grandchildren: Max, Sam, Ben Hailey, Jadyn and Peighton. He is further survived by a sister, Mary Therese (Dan) Schuh; a brother-in-law, Duane Jenkins; a sister-in-law, Anaceil Randerson; and many nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Patrick and Robert.
The funeral service for William will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Rd S, Freedom, with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service. Full military honors will be performed by the Freedom VFW Post 7692 and the U.S. Army following the committal in the parish cemetery.

Mary Therese Schuh, age 80, of Darboy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 29, 2017. She was born on February 8, 1937, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Van Domelen) Randerson. Therese married Dan Schuh on September 15, 1956, and together have celebrated over 62 years of marriage.
Therese enjoyed taking care of her flower gardens and all sorts of animals. She had a love for them and helped raise many different pets. She also enjoyed playing cards, bowling, skiing and traveling throughout the United States with Dan in their motorhomes. She also played a key role in helping Dan start the family business, Darboy Stone and Brick. Therese taught her grandchildren how to ice skate on the family pond, and many fond memories were made ice skating as a family. The more time she could spend with her children and grandchildren, the better. She was a devoted and loving wife, and a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Hartzheim, VeronaVerona Hartzheim, 91, a longtime resident of Appleton, passed away peacefu lly on Sept. 2, 2004, in Milwaukee. Verona was born in Browns Valley, Minn ., on Dec. 19, 1912, to Cornelius and Ann Geurts (Heckel). She gr ew up on the family's farm in eastern South Dakota, the oldest of six chil dren.As a young woman, Verona earned her teaching degree and taught in a one ro om school in Browns Valley. After several years she moved to Appleton, Wis ., where she worked for the phone company in the days in which each call er had to be manually connected to the person being called. Appleton is al so where she met Clarence Hartzheim, whom she married on Nov. 30, 1944.Verona devoted her life to her family and her church. She and Clarence rai sed five children and Verona spent her adult life caring for her husban d, children, grand and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook a nd at our many family gatherings she stayed busy preparing and serving fo od and had to be encouraged to sit down and eat herself. She was alwa ys a sympathetic listener, even when she was not pleased by what she hear d. When not raising her family, she was often attending, or volunteeri ng to work at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. When Clarence pass ed away in 1998, Verona went to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Cla rice and Carl Geenen of Brown Deer, Wis.Verona was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Rita Hable and brothe r, Cleteus. Richard J. McCarthy, age 93, of Appleton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born April 21, 1921 in the Town of Center to the late William and Helen (Heckel) McCarthy. Following High School he worked in the Appleton Ice plant and developed an interest in diesel mechanics. He then attended The Diesel Mechanics School in Chicago. Shortly after completing school Rich decided to leave the ice plant and work the family farm. He utilized many of those diesel mechanics skills to maintain all of the farm equipment and enjoyed being inventive and creating machinery, elevators, and other equipment for the farm. He also enjoyed creating motorized go karts and mini bikes for the kids.
On August 31, 1950 he married LaVerne M. Coenen at St. John's Church, Little Chute. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this summer. Richard was the 3rd generation on the still operating family farm, working well into his late 70's. His son and grandson now continue this family tradition.
Rich had a great interest in mechanics and loved to hunt on his property. He was able to enjoy this lifetime endeavor until last fall when he was still able to climb a tree stand to go deer hunting. His many days in the woods were of great enjoyment to him both while deer hunting and cutting down trees for the winter fireplace.

Willard J. McCarthy, age 94, brother of several area residents, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, in Normal, Illinois. He was a retired professor of Industrial Technology at Illinois State University.
Willard was born March 16, 1922, in Appleton, a son of William and Helen Heckel McCarthy. He married Lynette Nolen Feb. 8, 1947, in Grand Prairie, TX. She died, Feb. 27, 2012, shortly after celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include two daughters, Leah (David) Kopka, Bloomington, IL; Constance (Alfred) Letizio, Chelsea, MI; a son Dr. Timothy (Barbara) McCarthy, Eden Prairie, MN; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
One brother survives, Cliff (Betty); and two sisters, Mary (Jack, deceased) Reardon; both of Appleton; Dolly (Clare, deceased) Plesser; Columbus, Ohio. He was predeceased by three brothers, Richard (Vern, survives); Emmet (Ardell); Donald (Liz Hopfensperger, survives); all of Appleton.

Appleton - Clifford "Cliff" McCarthy, age 87, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was born on March 10, 1930 in Appleton to the late William and Helen (Heckel) McCarthy.
Cliff married the love of his life Betty Bergeman, on January 30, 1952 at St. Edward Catholic Church. Together they were blessed with five children.
He was employed with the Outagamie County Highway Department for thirty-two years, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting at his cottage on Post Lake. Cliff's garage, tools and tractors were all special delights to Cliff.
Cliff was known as a hardworking and dedicated man who was very proud of all he accomplished. Above all Cliff cherished his wife and family, as they were truly his best accomplishments.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Betty; his four children, Jean (Joe) Talamanco of Appleton, Dan (Chris) McCarthy of Black Creek, Kevin (Jane) McCarthy of Hortonville and Perry (Dawn) McCarthy of Shiocton; ten grandchildren, Sara (Kris) Hoffman, Christine Calmes, Leah McCarthy, Tracey (Ryan) Kaphingst, Tara (Jason) Schmidt, Eric McCarthy, Megan (Nate) Panas, Holly (Ryan) Rusch, Pam (John) Griesbach and Gwen (Paul) Court and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his two sisters, Dolly Plesser and Mary Reardon; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Fockel and Liz Hofpensperger. Cliff also leaves behind many other family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.

She was born May 15, 1919, in De Pere, daughter of the late Michael and Ella (Remmel) Nolan. Marjorie was united in marriage to Patrick Randerson who preceded her in death in March of 1943. Thereafter, she devoted her life to the raising of her children. She was employed by the Freedom School District for 27 years, retiring in 1987.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 NOON on Monday, March 23, 2009, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom with Fr. Dave Hoffman and Fr. Dennis Ryan concelebrating the mass. Friends will be received directly at Church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in her name.

John Glenn Nolan, Kaukauna, age 90, died Tuesday April 7, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital from complications following surgery.
He was born on April 22, 1924 in De Pere to the late Michael and Helen (Remmel) Nolan.
Following his graduation from Wrightstown High School, John served in the Army from 1944-1946 during World War II. He served in the Philippines in the 31st Infantry and was a member of the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319. John married Rita Dashner at St. Joseph Parish in Appleton on October 25, 1947. He retired from Thilmany Papers after working there 42 years.
John was a talented craftsman. He enjoyed woodworking and could repair many things. John built his house and loved to use his talents to help his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and hunting. Together, John and his son Don, took a trip to Wyoming to hunt Mule Deer.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rita; children: Linda (Jim Nelson) Nolan, Brooklyn Park, MN; Donald (Linda Plutchak) Nolan, Madison; Diane Bloy, Kimberly; Steve Nolan, Madison; and Mary Ann (Roger) Fiebelkorn, Manawa; grandchildren: Aaron (Stephanie) Bloy and Melanie (Andy Lee) Bloy Lee, Emily and Amanda Nolan-Plutchak, and Amelia (Ryan) Casper; great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Olivia Bloy, Madelline and Alaina Lee, Declan and Ryland Nolan-Plutchak; and sister-in-law: Agnes Nolan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandson, Nick Nolan-Plutchak; and siblings: Lorraine Morsette, Robert Nolan and Margie (Pat) Randerson.

Donald G. Randerson, of Weyauwega, age 86, passed away at Weyauwega Health Care Center on Thursday, February 22, 2007. He was born in Appleton on September 13, 1920, the son of the late William and Helen (McDaniel) Randerson. He was employed at Konz Box Factory for many years in Appleton. Donald was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. Donald's hobbies included: collecting post cards from communities across the country, polka records, and was very fond of his cats. Donald is survived by his sister, Mary K. Rohde of Weyauwega; nieces and nephews: Mary (William F.) Ellen Wurzbach of Oshkosh, Tom (Sue) Rohde of Neenah, Bob (Joan) Rohde of Almond, Mike (Sue) Rohde of Weyauwega, Pat (Lois) Rohde of Houston, TX, and Anne (Merle) Alix of Wallace, MI; and further survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary Kathleen Rohde, age 94, was welcomed into glory and rejoiced when she met her Lord and Savior and was reunited with her beloved Leonard on Monday, September 11, 2017 at St. Joseph Residence in New London. Mary was born on October 4, 1922 in Appleton to the late William and Helen (McDaniel) Randerson. She was united in marriage to Leonard M. Rohde on July 27, 1946. He preceded her in death. Mary became a school teacher after graduating from Oshkosh State Teacher's College and retired from teaching to become a "super mom" for 6 children. Mary and Leonard moved to Weyauwega in 1949 and Mary lived there until 2013, when she moved to Trinity Terrace in New London. Mary was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Weyauwega. Mary had a special love for many things. These included her family, her church, books, dancing with Leonard and Prolife activities.

Nona L. Van Straten, age 97, Shiocton, finished her journey on Saturday, May 14, 2016. She was born on April 16, 1919, in Appleton daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Randerson) Wachlin. On February 19, 1936, she was united in marriage to Clark Van Straten at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek. Together they raised 8 children. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1950. Nona was a life long member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Shiocton; where she participated in St. Ann Christian Mother's Society. She traveled extensively with her children throughout the years.

Did you get a call from Fay Wagner? She's married to Les Wagner and his m other was Hazel Randerson. Fay was born in 1938 so Les was born in the m id 1930s. (Probably-I don't know his birth date.) Fay and I are cousin s. My Grandmother Anna Runge nee Mohr and Fay's Grandfather August Mohr w ere brother and sister. We've been working together for years on our fam ilies. Leslie W. Wagner, 76, Kokomo, Ind., died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Outagamie County, Wis., the son of Raymond and Hazel (Randerson) Wagner. On June 15, 1963, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour, Wis., he married Fay Lois Kell, who survives.
Les was a 1953 graduate of Seymour High School, Seymour, Wis. He received his Bachelor's Degree from University of Wisconsin in 1958 and received his Master's in Electrical Engineering in 1971. Les served three months in the U.S. Air Force in Critical Skills. He began his career with GM in the Milwaukee area and moved to Kokomo, Ind., in December 1971. He retired from Delco Electronics in December 1996 as Senior Project Engineer after 38 1/2 years of service.
Les is survived by his wife, Fay, Kokomo; two daughters, Lori (Michael) Kosek, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Katherine (John) Yochum, Ft. He was born August 6, 1940 son of the late Ray and Hazel (Randerson) Wagner. On September 17, 1964 he was united in marriage to Barb Fox at St. Nicholas in Freedom.
Merle was a delivery driver and self-employed in sales. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, playing cards, motorcycling, travel and golf, as much as anyone can enjoy golf.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour.

Gene Randerson, age 87, of Freedom, passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2017.
Visitation will take place at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom, from 3:00 p.m. until a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Church at 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Obituary:
Gene W. Randerson, 87, of Freedom, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was born on September 2, 1930, in Little Chute, WI to C. Lee Randerson and Margaret (Ludwig) Randerson. He leaves behind the love of his life, Margaret Ann (Garvey) Randerson.
Growing up, Gene was a member of St. John's Catholic Parish. He was baptized, made his First Holy Communion at St. John's, and attended schools in Little Chute until the family moved to Freedom to take over the Randerson Family homestead farm. Gene attended St. Nicholas Catholic School (Freedom, WI) for seventh and eighth grades, graduating in 1944. Gene celebrated solemn communion and confirmation at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Gene attended Freedom High School, graduating in 1948. He was involved in basketball, boxing, baseball and musicals. He was the Junior Prom King and an excellent student. After graduation, Gene continued to farm with his father until he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served his country for four years during the Korean Conflict at Lockbourne, S.A.C. Air Force base, Columbus, OH, and was honorably discharged in 1956, just missing the birth of his first daughter.
Gene and Margaret Ann married during the Korean Conflict on August 4, 1955 at St. Nicholas while Gene was still in the Air Force and made their first home in Columbus, OH. Gene brought his bride back to Freedom after being discharged, and with the help of his father, Lee Randerson, Margaret Ann's father, Joseph E. Garvey and close friend Lee Kabat, built their forever home on part of the Randerson Homestead.
Gene graduated from Green Bay Business College, holding down several jobs at a time, including the family farm, to keep pace with his and Margaret Ann's growing family. Gene worked in the Insurance Field and in the Paper industry, using his accounting and supervisory skills, retiring in 1992. He was an active member of St. Nicholas, including singing in the church choirs, a member of the Fox Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus, the Freedom VFW and Knights of Columbus. He was an excellent dancer, learning from his mother in the kitchen of the farmhouse, and loved to hit the dance floor with Margaret Ann, his daughters and granddaughters.
Summers were spent at Kelly Lake, and once the new family cottage was built there, fall, winters and spring were also spent at Kelly Lake. It was all about family with Gene. Especially Thanksgiving; Randerson Family celebrations at Romy's each and every Thanksgiving were legendary. Gene and Margaret Ann celebrated their 62nd Anniversary this past August. Gene's 87th birthday party at Kelly Lake, large as usual, ended with him singing a rousing rendition of "I'm 87 years old"! Gene was an avid golfer, traveler, bowler, reader, bridge player and gardener. His experiences on the Old Glory Honor Flight were life changing. Let's not forget his love of watching TV, especially sports! He passed on his competitiveness, even in dominoes, to all of us.
Margaret Ann has lost her rock, the love of her life. Neither ever wanted to be without the other. After kissing and saying goodnight to his bride, Gene rolled over and went to eternal rest.
Gene and Margaret Ann have six children, who will miss their Dad every day of their lives, especially all of the pranks he pulled: Mary Talbot (Marv), Tom (Jane), Jo Ann, Maureen Vanden Heuvel (Dan), Patti Peters (Randy) and Barb Gerritts (Tommy).

Catherine Murphy McCormick, age 94, Shawano, passed away Thursday, November 20, at Birch Hill Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by John McCormick, her soul mate, ally and husband of nearly 68 years. He died in his 91st year on April 5, 2005, and was buried on Kate's birthday April 11. Kate's story is so intertwined with John's story that it is difficult to reflect on her life separately from his, but she was incredible all on her own.
Kate had a powerful voice, talents and skills at a time when women were not encouraged to be strong, opinionated and successful. She was a trailblazer in so many ways as a student of the stock market, an avid political thinker, a community leader and a health care professional. She brought Dr. Bill Grover and Dr. Pat Stuff to Bonduel when the town really needed them. She was a registered nurse and treasured that profession her whole life.
Kate was a Murphy, a well-known construction family in Wisconsin. So despite construction being a man's world, she knew construction well and was successful. She designed and built houses - more than one - with a knack for maximizing closet and drawer space. Her sense of the visual with custom made cabinets and louvered doors were all done in a warm honey pecan color that she loved. She could comb through flea markets for days - finding buried treasure and using her skills as an extraordinary refinisher of furniture that was brought to life under her hand, patiently and richly.
If you knew Kate, you also know she loved to cook and create a home for her family. Maybe you remember having her chocolate on chocolate cookies or spice cake with caramel frosting. Or maybe you played bridge together, or watched the Packers, or talked about the stock market, or politics. Or perhaps you have enjoyed her Desert Rose dishes, or seen her elves attached to her stair spindles at Christmas.
Kate was the second of five children born to Ed and Stella (Garvey) Murphy. Family lore states that John and Kate met in the second grade at St. Nicholas Catholic School in Freedom, Wisconsin. Kate visited easily with everyone. So the teacher placed John, a new transfer, next to her; they became future life partners.
Kate later attended St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay and then graduated from Freedom High School. She completed her RN degree at the Bellin Hospital School of Nursing in Green Bay. She then moved to Chicago for nurses' training at Cook County Hospital, where John came to visit her on his way to the Philippines to visit his sister Daisy. John and Kate had dinner and then heard the Coon Sanders Band at the Blackhawk Hotel.
John and Kate were married on July 16, 1938, at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom Wisconsin. The priest, Fr. Van Dyke, rather autocratic, scheduled it for 8 a.m. So all the guests had to rise early to get there. Kate's parents had a farm about a mile from Freedom with a beautiful yard and farmhouse. Her aunts, supervised by her mother, served a bountiful dinner. John's brother, Jerry, and Kate's sister, Lorraine, were their attendants. John's sister Daisy and her daughter Joan came from the Philippines. The honeymoon was a trip to Milwaukee and Chicago followed by a stay at the Murphy cottage on Loon Lake near Shawano.
She was a successful businesswoman with her husband, John. When they were planning the next phase of their life, Kate's father, Ed Murphy, had a gravel crusher and washing plant with no one to manage it. So John and Kate operated it in Slab City, where it remains today under different ownership. Kate raised three children while answering the phone and managing Murphy Sand and Gravel with John. From 1947 to 1968 John and Kate lived gravel.
Kate was a great wife, a devoted mom, a constant, loyal gramma and great-gramma, sister, aunt, and good friend to many. She was especially close to the children of old friends from Bonduel and the families of women who rented from them in their big house on Division Street.
Though she missed living at her Shawano Division Street home, and treasured neighbors like Yolanda and Pat Coriz and their family, she was fortunate to have gentle and skilled caregivers at the Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano. Here she was visited frequently by her twin daughters, Betsy and Susan, and son, David, faithful son-in-law Steve, her grandsons, Bryan and Chris Hadley, and her granddaughter and namesake, Katie McCormick Lelyveld. While at Birch Hill, she looked forward to the nearly continuous phone calls from these three special grandchildren.
Catherine Murphy McCormick is survived by her twin daughters: Betsy Catherine McCormick (Steven Lelyveld) of Chicago; Susan McCormick Hadley (Richard Hadley) of Minneapolis; her son, David McCormick (Virginia Bores) of Madison; six grandchildren: Jeff, Peter, Bryan, Chris, Katie, and Megan; five great-grandchildren: Leah, Brianna, Gary, PJ, and Julia; and great-great-grandchild Collin; brother-in-law Jerome (Florence) McCormick of Green Bay; sister-in-law Eileen Van Drasek of Green Bay; brother-in-law William Jensen of Shawano; sister Lorraine Murphy Miller of Seymour; a sister-in-law Delores Murphy of Kaukauna; special niece, Joan Biason (John) Helble of Virginia, and her family; wonderful nieces and nephews, and many children of family friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Marvin and Joseph Murphy, sister Geraldine Murphy Jensen and sister-in-law Daisy McCormick Biason.

Lorraine M. Miller, 93, Seymour, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2010. She was born July 7, 1917, daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Garvey) Murphy in Freedom. On April 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to Bill Miller. He preceded her in death June 21, 1982.
From 1946 until 1976, she and her husband owned and operated Miller's Department Store in Seymour. Lorraine was member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour, and the Christian Mothers of the church.
Survivors include her children, JoAnn (Tom) Schroeder, Loon Lake; Terry (Lynn) Miller, Wild Rose; Mary Ann Balma, Seymour; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Delores Murphy, Freedom; and brother-in-law, Bill Jensen, Florida.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Miller; two sisters and two brothers.

Evelyn Radloff, Freedom, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2008, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. Evelyn was born in Freedom on March 11, 1913, daughter of the late George and Ella (Vandenberg) Garvey. On February 6, 1934, she married Walter Radloff; he preceded her in death in 2001. In her younger years, Evelyn worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills in Appleton, but later devoted herself to the care of her growing family.
Evelyn will be remembered by all as a great cook, flower gardener, and how she baked cookies for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, and gave away countless items to family and friends over the years. She was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, and was a former member of the Christian Mothers.

Marie Coffey, 91, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday at Appleton Medical Center with her family at her side. Marie was born in Freedom, on Oct. 16, 1917, daughter of the late George and Ella (Vandenberg) Garvey. On Aug. 20, 1938, she married Arthur Coffey. He preceded her in death in 1988. They were residents of Freedom until 1953, when they moved to Appleton. Together for many years they enjoyed wintering in Clearwater, Fla., and summers at their cottage on Shawano Lake.
Marie had many interests including painting, line dancing, Irish Club and playing the organ. She was also an avid walker. In 1996 she was thrilled to set foot on the original Garvey farm in Killaloe, Ireland. She will always be remembered for being a first-rate hostess. Her door was always open to family and friends. She made everyone feel very special. She was a member of St. Therese Parish.
Marie is survived by two sons, Francis (Sandy) Coffey, Appleton; Robert (Cathy) Coffey, Appleton; seven grandchildren, Ann Jones, Tim Coffey, Jeff (Carrie) Coffey, Meghan (Dan) Nickchen, Steve Coffey, Jesse (Josh) Adrians and Mary (Vaughn) Behnke; seven great-grandchildren, Emma Jones, Hannah Jones, Reeve Coffey, Veda Coffey, Elizabeth Nickchen, Zoe Nickchen and Wesley Nickchen; a brother, Emil (Anna Mae) Huss, Freedom; and one sister, Linda Garvey, DePere.

He was born June, 15, 1927, to t he late Patrick and Margaret (Murphy) Garvey in Oneida, WI. He married t he former Grace Biese on June 15, 1949, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in K aukauna. Buzz worked as a dairy farmer from 1949 until 1976 in Freedo m. He and Grace owned and operated Buzz's Bowl in Freedom from 1971 unt il they sold it in 1986. Buzz was on the Freedom School Board from 1970-19 76 and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 8061. He en joyed time with family and friends at the Cottage, sheephead with the Tues day afternoon card club, golf with the Kelly Lake Mulligan Crew, numero us Canadian fishing trips and bowling over the years with his many frien ds with his Holstein ball. Gerald "Jerry" Randerson, age 69, of Appleton, passed away on January 24, 2014 as a result of an auto accident in Langlade County. Jerry was born on October 11, 1944 in Appleton to the late Gerald and Helen (Crowe) Randerson. Jerry married Linda Glodowski on October 22, 1966 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Stevens Point. He worked all his life at the Hoffmaster Corporation in Appleton until his retirement in 2009. Jerry and Linda were members at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton. He enjoyed fishing, especially on Pickerel Lake in Langlade County where he and Linda spent most of the summer at their cabin. He was also an avid Packer fan.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Linda; son, Christopher (Faye) Randerson; grandsons, Sean and Brock; stepmother, Bernice Randerson; brothers, Robert and James Randerson; sister, Mary Bungert; along with his best buddy, Jameson, his golden retriever.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Wenneman.

See Image Sharon J. Wenneman, age 63, of Appleton, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 with her family at her side. She was born on April 11, 1946, daughter of the late Gerald and Helen (Crowe) Randerson. On December 30, 1967, Sharon was united in marriage to Thomas J. Wenneman. Sharon was a special person, selflessly helping with the care of her younger siblings and father after her mothers death. Later in life she loved to spend time at the cottage with her faithful dogs (Bo and Michael) and the family. She enjoyed her flower garden, fishing, snowmobiling, but especially taking Michael for a run around the lake with the ATV. Sharon had a passion for caring for the birds and animals around her, enjoying the return of the many humming birds each year. She is survived by her husband of almost 42 years; Thomas, three children; Tricia (Larry) Bubolz, Trina Dixon, Brian Wenneman and a very special grandson; Evan Dixon. Sharon is further survived by three brothers; Gerald (Linda) Randerson, Robert and James Randerson, a sister; Mary Bungert, very special cousins; Kay, Lois, Joanne and Judy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Sharon will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Valley Funeral Home with Deacon Rick Simon presiding. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home on Tuesday. The family would like to offer a special thanks, to the doctors and staff of the Oncology department at Appleton Medical Center. Menasha - Dr. Jerome W. Riese, age 85, died on January 18, 2018. Jerome was born on May 2, 1932, in Freedom, Wisconsin, to Ferdinand and Anna (Williamson) Riese. He was blessed to have a mother who was a teacher, and both parents who encouraged his desire to achieve.
Jerome completed eight grades of elementary school at St. Nicholas School, Freedom, in seven years, at the head of his class. He graduated from St. Mary High School, Menasha, where he achieved many positions of leadership, including drum major, Sodality president, and prom king. He graduated valedictorian of his class.
At Marquette University, Jerome was again active in many areas, such as band president and math club president. His top campus service was as All-University Homecoming Chairman in 1952. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1953, with a double major in physics and mathematics.
Jerome entered graduate school at MIT in Boston with a teaching assistantship in the physics lab. He was awarded a National Science Foundation Fellowship in subsequent years at MIT, where he received his Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics in 1958.
Jerome's other Boston achievements included winning the lovely Maureen C. Fenlon, also a teacher, as his bride in December 1956, and the birth of their daughter, Ruth Anne, in 1958. After graduation, the new family moved to Wisconsin, where Jerry joined the R&E Department of Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
But the space age beckoned, and in late 1962, Dr. Riese accepted an offer from Westinghouse Astronuclear Lab in Pittsburgh to join their team in developing a nuclear engine to propel an interplanetary rocket. He quickly developed a unique, finite-element method for analyzing neutron density outer space-time in a reactor. This caught the interest of other reactor scientists across the country, and led to his being Invited Speaker at the American Nuclear Society's meeting in Philadelphia in June 1964. Jerome was also promoted from Senior Staff Scientist to Fellow Scientist at Westinghouse.
However, Pittsburgh's not Wisconsin (as Maureen may have pointed out to Jerry!), nor did the space program offer the stability of a consumer products company. So Jerry re-joined Kimberly-Clark in late 1964, where he enjoyed a challenging career in a wide variety of math-physics applications until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1995. Career highlights included his presidency of the KC Technical Society, presidency of the KC Fellow Scientists and Engineering Consultants, and General Chairmanship of the 1992 KC Technical Conference in Madison, Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, Jerry and Maureen were blessed with eight children, each of whom gave them great joy. The family camping trips reached their zenith with a five-week exploration of the Southwest in 1971. To this day, the siblings say, "We never knew what was coming each new day, but we knew it would be great!" The children also provided their father with super "bragging rights" as they matured into two "double doctors (MD/PHD)," one corporate vice president, a business consultant, a journalist, a nurse, a Grammy-nominated singer, and a teacher.
But the very best times for Jerry were the nine years he got to spend with Maureen after his retirement and before her death in 2003. In subsequent years, Jerry worked hard at ignoring the huge hole Maureen's absence left in his life. Surely, he is delighted to be at her side now!
In addition to Maureen, Jerome was preceded in death by his eldest son, Randy; by his parents; by his brother, John; and by his sons-in-law, David Segal, Tom Kelly, and Brian Blaney. He is survived by his remaining seven children (and spouses): Ruth Anne (David) Landsverk, Rebecca Kelly, Rachel Segal, Dr. Richard (Jeannine) Riese, Judith Blaney, Jerome (Karen) Riese, Dr. Matthew (Annette) Riese, and daughter-in-law Jeanne Riese. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren: Maureen, Matthew and Joseph Landsverk; John Patrick, Thomas, and William Kelly; Alexander, Maximillian, and Victoria Segal; Gabrielle Riese; Richard and Erin Blaney; Rachel, Katherine, Mary, and Brigit Riese; and Adam and Liam Riese. He is further survived by his sisters (and spouses): Mary Ann (Ronald) Wenzel, and Rosemary (Walter) Pauls; by his sister-in-law, Sancee Riese; and by many nieces and nephews.
Jerry always encouraged each of his children to set goals and to aim for excellence, to love one another without fail, and to question the unquestionable. He was the most steadfast, loving, and generous of fathers, qualities his children will continually strive to pass on. Although his dream career of stand-up comic was sidelined by eight children, he will be fondly remembered for his great joy in cracking jokes and peanuts at the head of a very full, loud, and happy table.
The funeral liturgy for Jerome will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 26, 2018 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH (528 Second St., Menasha). Visitation will be held the evening before on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME (537 N. Superior St., Appleton) from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and again at church on Friday from 10:30 until the time of mass.

Ronald Thomas McCann, "McCann-nic," 74, Appleton, surrounded by his family, entered into eternal life on Monday, September 22, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer, He was born July 1, 1934, in the town of Freedom, to the late Thomas McCann and Evelyn McCann-Hoffmann. He married the love of his life Joyce DeWildt, on November 30, 1957, and together they shared 50 years. After high school, Ron served his country by joining the United States Navy. He retired from his work as a mechanic of McCann's Mechanical Services of which he owned and operated.
Ron loved to take leisurely rides on his Gold Wing and snowmobile the north woods, but most of all he loved to take out his boat and enjoy the beautiful lakes and rivers with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Joyce, three sons: Mike (Joan) and their children, Paul (Alicia), Kimberly (Jesse), Kayla (Mike); Pete (Teri) and their children; Joshua, Jarib, Jakob, Jaania; Rick McCann and his children: Adam and Hayley. He is further survived by his sisters: Jean Pierri, Evie Kohl and Molly Chapleau, brother Bob (Amy) McCann, sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Rich) Evers and Ione Schommer, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Linda Nolan, of Brooklyn Park, MN, formerly of Kaukauna, age 67, died Wednesday July 29, 2015 after a year and a half illness. She was born in Kaukauna on May 28, 1948 to John Glenn and Rita (Dashner) Nolan. While attending Kaukauna High School, she was inducted into the Quill and Scroll honor society. She loved music and was a member of the school marching band for which she played the clarinet. Following graduation in 1966, Linda worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper and the Outagamie County District Attorney's office. She also lived in Milwaukee and Maysville, KY, before to moving to the Twin Cities in 1986. Linda earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis.
She loved being a mom and did all she could for her daughter Amelia. Together they enjoyed going to out dinner, watching movies, and playing dominoes with family. She will be remembered for her kindness and caring spirit for friends, and family, including tending to her Grandpa and Grandma Dashner in the latter stages of their lives. Linda was also an animal lover and doted on her cats.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jim Nelson, Brooklyn Park; her daughter, Amelia (Ryan) Casper, Waukesha; mother, Rita Nolan, Kaukauna; siblings: Donald (Linda Plutchak) Nolan, Madison; Diane Bloy, Kimberly; Steve Nolan, Madison; and Mary Ann (Roger) Fiebelkorn, Manawa; and Amelia's father and previous spouse, John Klebenow. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, John Glenn Nolan; and nephew, Nick Nolan-Plutchak.

Nolan, Donald "Buck" Glenn
MADISON- On the evening of February 7, 2016, Don passed away peacefully at his home with his family Linda, Emily, Amanda, Declan, Ryland, Molly and Pippa; after a 4 year fight with Parkinson's Disease. Don was clearly waiting until the Super Bowl was over. Don was 66 years old.
Don Nolan was born in Kaukauna, Wisconsin on June 15, 1949. He was the second child and first son to John and Rita (Dashner) Nolan. Don had one brother and three sisters.
Don attended Kaukauna High School. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He obtained an undergraduate degree at UW-Madison in political science, and master's degrees at UW-Madison in elementary education and social work. Don worked for the Jefferson Area School District first as social worker, then as director of pupil services as well as assistant superintendent. Don worked tirelessly crusading to make sure that each child had a quality public education. Don wanted each child in the Jefferson Area School District to receive an education that would give them the tools to be a successful adult.
Don met his wife Linda when he was 18 waiting in the financial aid line at the Red Gym at UW. Don and Linda have been together ever since. Don and Linda enjoyed going to Badger football games, sitting in the backyard with an evening cocktail and traveling together. Don and Linda enjoyed being in each other's company and spending as much time together as possible. Don and Linda were truly one another's soulmates.
Don had 3 children Emily, Amanda and Nick. Don was a wonderful father. In a time where people often don't make enough time for their families Don always made time for his wife, children and grandchildren. Don had two grandchildren Declan and Ryland. Don made the time he had with his boys, "grandpa's boys", very special. Declan and Ryland loved spending time with their grandpa as much as grandpa enjoyed spending time with them. Declan and Ryland especially enjoyed going to see the animals at the zoo with their grandpa. We know that grandpa will continue to be with the boys each and every day of their lives.
In his free time Don loved to hunt, fish, garden and spend time with his family. Don enjoyed going on hunting trips to Colorado and Wyoming with his son Nick, friend Jack Schallern and brother Steve Nolan. Don loved spending time outside and spending time in nature.
No obituary will ever be able to summarize Don's life because he lived such a full life.
Don was preceded in death by his father John, sister Linda and his beloved son, Nick as well as his perfect dog Lady.
Don is survived by his mother Rita Nolan, his wife Linda Plutchak, his daughters Emily and Amanda, his grandsons Declan and Ryland and his almost perfect dog Pippa. As well as his brother Steve and sisters Diane and Mary Ann Fiebelkorn (Roger). Don is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don will be missed by many because he was loved by many. This world was truly a better place because Don was a part of it.
A visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 4 to 7pm.
