Obituary:
Gerald L. "Jerry", Ashauer, 76, Town of Center, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a short illness on Sunday, March 28, 2010. He was born and raised on the family farm in the Town of Harrison on November 20, 1933, to the late Albert and Nora (Berghuis) Ashauer.
Jerry married Bernice Vander Loop at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute on January 20, 1954. They were longtime and active members of St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville. He was past president of Outagamie Pork Association, Town of Center Board member and he and Bernice were instrumental in developing Grand View Golf Course in Hortonville. Jerry was a lifelong farmer who loved to hunt, fish and provided for his family in a variety of ways with his time and talents.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Bernice of 56 years; children: Joe (Linda) Ashauer; Christii Ashauer; Jeff (Cindy L.) Ashauer; Cindy (Marty) Timm; Cathy (Mike) Timm; Jim Ashauer and Jason (Sari) Ashauer; grandchildren: Brianna Ashauer, Scott, Amie Arnoldussen, Quinn, Tristin DeDecker, Jesse (Becki) Ashauer, Justin (Rachel) Ashauer, Matthew, Maxwell Ashauer, Andrew, Victoria Timm, Kyle Timm, Zachary, Rebecca Ashauer; one great-granddaughter, Annabelle Ashauer; a sister, Em Meyer and a sister-in-law, Ceil Ashauer.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Loretta (Lawrence) Schmidt and Anna Ashauer; brothers: Paul (Bea) Ashauer and Edward Ashauer; brother-in-law, Harvey Meyer.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville, with Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Interment will be in parish cemetery. Friends may visit the family Tuesday, March 30, 2010, TONIGHT, from 4 - 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a prayer service. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the mass at church Wednesday. A memorial fund is being established.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Joseph Residence for their wonderful care of Jerry these last weeks.
