    Obituary:
Lorraine Hagen, 84, passed away on Sunday, October 31 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. The Lord wrapped his loving arms around Lorraine and said enough, taking our sunshine, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister from her earthly home to shine down on us from the heavens above. Lorraine was born February 28, 1926 to George and Anna (VanAsten) Schommer in the town of Freedom, WI. She attended Delavan School for the Deaf where she met her soul- mate Lloyd V. Hagen. They were married June 2, 1945 and had celebrated their 65th anniversary this past June. Lorraine was an outgoing, friendly person whose warm smile made those around her smile too. Before her illness, Lorraine had a love for camping and was always looking forward to the fall months when the plump blackberries were in season. She and her husband would pick the berries to make jelly and sauce that she would share with family and friends. Lorraine was an excellent cook known for her lemon meringue and pumpkin pies. She enjoyed trying new recipes and always had a few recipe cards in her purse ready to share with others. Lorraine was a member of the Wisconsin Association of the Deaf and the Fox River Valley Deaf Association for the past 60 years where she was fondly referred to as Grandma Fox. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 65 years Lloyd Hagen, Neenah; three children: Ronald (Paula) Hagen, Larsen, WI; James (Donna) Hagen, Temple, NH.; Carol (Rick) Evensen, Neenah; son in-law Donald Witkowski, Neenah; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is furthered survived by her brother and sisters: Russell (Betty) Schommer, Redford, MI; Georgie (Lee) Casey Appleton, WI; Sister George Ann Schommer, Manitowoc, WI; and a sister in-law Lorraine Schommer, Shawano, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Florian (Buck) Schommer; and a daughter Judy Witkowski. The funeral service for Lorraine will be held on Thursday November 4, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Menasha at 1:30 P.M, Pastor Bud Palmer officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name. Special thank you to daughter; Carol and granddaughters Megan Evensen and Dawn Barrett whose love and compassionate care of mom/grandma made it possible for her to stay at home for the past 7 months. The Hagen family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Dr. Phillips office for all the care given to Lorraine over the past 6 years, to the staff of Theda Care Hospice and the staff of the Sign Language Group of Appleton.
