Obituary:
Joseph E. Demerath, age 88, of Janesville, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born in Appleton on July 29, 1923, the son of Frank and Anna (Koestler) Demerath. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Company F 534th Battalion with the Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment. Joseph married Janet A. Drives in Madison on Sept. 20, 1947, and she preceded in death on March 11, 2000. He had been employed by Piggly Wiggly and Eagle Foods on Milwaukee and State Street locations. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. He will always be remembered as the "Cookie Grandpa". Joseph is survived by his 7 children: Tim (Maureen) Demerath of Nekoosa, Tom (Lynn) Demerath of Janesville, Terry (Kevin) Kaveney of Chicago, Cindy (Kent) Weber of Rockton, Marcy (Doug) Johnson of Janesville, Dick (Darlene) Demerath of Janesville and Amy (Daniel) Dawdy of Dwight, IL; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Al Demerath of Marinette, Mike (Dee) Demerath of Seymour and Leon (Rosalee) Demerath of Mt. Pleasant, MI; and sister, Betty (Dave) Maas of Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 grandchildren; and 8 siblings: Francis, Edith, Rita, Mary, Ann, Teresa, Peter and Gloria. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY.
